Chapter 91: Don’t you dare

Dylan was quiet for some time. He was trying to understand how Alice had changed so much that she became so fierce to answer him. She wasn’t that courageous before and was like a pup who kept tailing behind him like his pet, agreeing and obeying him.

"You have got a sharp mouth, Alice. I like it," he said, trying to cover his surprise because he didn’t want to get intimidated by her words.

"You should be Dylan, that’s why I’m warning you for the last time. Don’t you dare come closer to me because this time I won’t spare you," saying she cut the call on his face, which made Dylan fume in anger?

"How dare she cut the call on me. How dare you Alice" Dylan gripped the phone tightly until his knuckles turned white.

While slamming his phone on the table, Dylan was about to curse when his cabin door opened, and Avera walked in with a beautiful smile.

"Babe," she called his name, and his mood switched from aggressive to normal.

Avera was the daughter of Hayes Reid, one of the influential businessmen and also one of the investors in his company. He was so impressed with Dylan’s way of handling that business that he proposed a marriage alliance between him and Avera.

Dylan first wanted to reject it because he never liked Avera. She was too clingy and spoiled and kept pestering him even when he didn’t spare her glance. But when his father told him to see the brighter side of the marriage and look at how profitable her being their daughter-in-law would increase their business, he immediately agreed.

Getting in her car, she slammed the door and slumped back on the seat. ’Does he still have feelings for her?’ Avera couldn’t help but think.

That day, she noticed how Dylan looked at Alice made her doubt if he was entirely over her or if he still had a soft spot for her. But then he quickly covered up his emotion and treated her like a stranger that surprised her.

"Maybe I am thinking too much" she brushed off her insecure thoughts and asked the driver to drive her back home.

Bedroom

Ashley woke up when she felt a kiss on her forehead. Her eyes opened, and she saw Tristan all ready to leave for work, and she frowned." What time is it?" she asked, worried, thinking she was late.

"Shh... now need to panic. It’s still early" Tristan slowly pushed her back, making her sleep, and brushed her face with his thumb." I have to leave early. It is an emergency business trip. I will be back tomorrow" his words surprised Ashley, and she sat on the bed in shock.

"Business trip? tomorrow?" Ashley wasn’t informed about his departure, and that too, all of a sudden.

Tristan saw her eyes dim with sadness, and he pulled her close to his heart and stroked her back carefully.

"Sorry I couldn’t inform you beforehand. Even I learned about it n the morning. Karl said it’s important, and I can’t ignore it" even though he was gentle with his words, he still couldn’t fill the void she was feeling because of his leave.

Ashley was so used to his kisses and hugs that she felt anxious when she could find him next to her on the bed.

Still finding her silent, Tristan pulled back and made her look up." I promise to finish the work as soon as possible," he assured her and saw her smile a little that eased his heart.

He could leave knowing she was upset because of him. Ashley had become his entire world, and he didn’t want to make her upset.

Ashley let go of her sadness and leaned forward, kissing him. "I will be waiting," she said, pulling back and seeing him smile.

Talking for some time, Tristan finally left while Ashley got ready. Today she decided to go for a walk since she hadn’t done it for a while.

After being replaced by Jane for Masha fashion week, Ashley’s schedule wasn’t that tight, and she had a lot of time to pamper herself.

Getting ready, she stepped out of the building. It was still early for anyone to notice her and snap her picture. Taking the other side, she began to walk, keeping her eyes straight, when she caught sight of someone familiar.

’Is that Benny?’ Ashley stopped and looked at the girl, who looked just like the one she had seen in the photo Miley had shown her.

On the other side of the road, a girl was walking in a hurry, forgetting that a pair of eyes were watching her. She looked like she was running from someone.

’I think I should follow her’ her mind gave instruction, and Ashley began to walk parallel on the other side of the road and followed Benny.

Ashley had a very sharp memory when recognizing a person, and she was damn sure it was Benny. But... what is she doing here, and where is she going. Didn’t her grandmother say she hadn’t contacted her since the day she left without telling her about her whereabouts?

Many questions began to pop up in her mind. Would it be she didn’t leave the country and was still living here? Or she just fooled her grandmother, knowing somehow she would end up telling about her and they will find her?

Ashley kept following her, ignoring everything, making sure she wouldn’t get caught when suddenly a black SUV stopped in front of Benny, and two men stepped out, dragging her forcefully inside the car.

"Hey, stop" Ashley screamed when she saw the scene and crossed the road in a hurry. But before she could reach there, the car accelerated and drove away as fast as possible.

"Damn..." she cursed in defeat while trying to catch her breath.

Ashley was damn sure the girl was Benny, but then the men,’ Who were they, and why did they take her away? She knew nothing, but it said those people weren’t friendly.

Reaching home Ashley first made Miley a call and instructed her to check on Mrs. Albert. She feared that those people would come and harm the old lady.

"I have to keep her safe. That’s the only way I would reach Benny."

Somewhere in the abandoned warehouse, Benny was lying on the floor with her hand and legs tied with rope. They had stuffed her mouth with a cloth, stopping her from making noise.

Struggling to get herself free, Benny heard the sound of clicking heels approaching her, and she heard someone speak.

"Why did you go against my word Benny" Jane’s voice immersed from above her head, and she flinched, recognizing her chilling voice.

Benny, who was asked to leave the country so she would have a lavishing life elsewhere without any struggle, lied. On the day she left, Jane didn’t once contact her or give her the money she was supposed to, which made her anxious, and she came back hoping she wouldn’t return her words.

But what happened was beyond her expectation. Jane not only tried to kidnap her but also threatened that she would kill her grandmother if she went against her words.

Benny somehow managed to get out of the warehouse and ran to her house to see her grandmother. But who would’ve thought her men would get hold of her and she would be dragged back again to this isolated place?

Benny raised her head and looked at Jane, who didn’t have any kindness within her, and that scared the shit out of her.
