Chapter 531: Worried Ashley

Giving Miley an understanding look Ashley resumed reading the script. It took her an hour to finish the work before she left the agency and decided to head home.

Ashley was on her way to the Knight Mansion when her phone buzzed and she answered the call instantly watching her father’s name flashing on the screen.

"What’s up dad" Ashley cheerfully greeted her father. He seems to enjoy his vacation very much and every time Richard would make a call, he would end up sharing his experience.

It was a pleasant feeling to finally see her father enjoy his life without worrying much about her.

"I am telling you, Ash, you and Tristan should surely plan a trip. It’s an amazing adventure to trek on mountains" Richard expressed knowing how much Ashley enjoyed trekking.

Not only did he take the photos but also made note of everything that would amuse his daughter and son-in-law if they ever planned on visiting the places.

Ashley smiled agreeing with her father. It was a delight to see him happily share the stories of his trip with her.

"By the way dad, are you keeping a check on your health? Last time you had a spike in your sugar level" Ashley reminded and sensed the line turned quiet the next second.

"DAD..." Ashley exclaimed with a warning tone and heard Richard sigh.

"Don’t worry, I am keeping a check on my health. So please refrain from reminding me about it every time"

Ashley couldn’t help but roll her eyes helplessly.

"I just want you to stay healthy since you plan on traveling all of a sudden" Ashley pointed.

Richard didn’t say a word and quietly listened to his daughter.

As the two kept on talking, Ashley finally reached the Knight Mansion.

"When are you coming back?" Ashley asked stepping out of the car and entered the house.

"I still have two places to visit before I return, why, is there something you want to talk about?" Richard asked sensing the concern laced through her voice.

Ashley had gone through a lot, but he also knew his daughter was strong enough to cope easily, however, there was a sense of alertness in her tone that got his attention.

After losing her child, it took Ashley some time to get back on track. She might seem happier from the outside but the feeling of losing her firstborn still pierced in her heart.

Ashley finally realized why her father would always worry for her. And now she understood how much she needed the people she loved to be with her, Ashley couldn’t stop herself from getting concerned.

Ashley stopped in her tracks. Richard easily sensed the trouble in her words, however, she didn’t want to worry her father.

"It’s nothing, Dad. I was just missing you, so.." Ashley refrained from expressing her real concern however she pestered her father to return as soon as possible.

Richard smiled at hearing her cute request. It did lace with a stubborn tone, however, Richard couldn’t refute his daughter’s request.

Hanging up the call Ashley was about to enter her room when her eyes caught the sight of Gavin heading toward his room

He seemed so preoccupied by something that he failed to notice her until Ashley called him out.

"Gavin!"

Putting a brake on his feet, Gavin stopped right in front of Ashley and gaped.

"Sister-in-law" Gavin muttered staring at Ashley cluelessly.

Gavin was so caught up in his thoughts that he failed to see Ashley, but now that he did, he couldn’t help but smile awkwardly.

"Sorry, I didn’t see you" Gavin apologized, however, Ashley didn’t mind since she could already guess that something was bothering her little brother.

"Mind to have a coffee with me?"

Ashley suddenly asked leaving Gavin speechless. However, he instantly agreed to her request and so they both headed to the terrace of the mansion to have a peaceful talk over a cup of coffee.

"I heard you and Jenny team up to find Sandra’s whereabouts," Ashley asked.

"Hmm... if it wasn’t her we wouldn’t have learned that Martin is the one who’s helping them" Gavin stated.

On his way home Gavin received a call from Jenny who informed him about Martin’s visit to her cabin. She told him how he tried to seize information from her, however she was smart enough to learn his motive.

Gavin felt at ease knowing Martin didn’t use any trick on Jenny. However, it did give him a sense of satisfaction that Gabriel’s plan started to work. It was just that Martin was being cautious.

Ashley nodded her head in agreement and carefully observed Gavin.

"Jenny is surely brave a brave girl. No doubt you liked her so much"

"COUGH! COUGH!"

Ashley cocked her brows and watched him smile sheepishly.

"Gavin, what’s with that look? Did I say something wrong" Ashley asked sensing the discomfort in his posture.

"No sister-in-law, it’s nothing" Gavin retorted and hastily finished his coffee before excusing himself back inside the house.

Gavin might have denied speaking anything, but Ashley could sense there was something he was trying to hide.

Darting her gaze from the direction Gavin left, Ashley continued enjoying her coffee and soon retreated to her room.

As soon as she stepped inside, a pair of arms engulfed her from behind.

"Tristan! When did you come?" Ashley asked tilting her head to look at her husband who almost caught her off guard by his sudden arrival.

Ashley didn’t even hear the sound of his car entering the gates or maybe she was so busy chatting with Gavin that she failed to notice any change.

"It’s me who should be asking this. You texted me that you were home, so why couldn’t I find my wife in the house" Tristan muttered burying his face into the crook of her neck and hearing her chuckle.

"I was with Gavin upstairs. We were having coffee together" Tristan pulled back hearing her words and arched his brow in confusion.

"Huh! Did I miss something?" he pondered.

Ashley’s smile faltered a little, and she dragged Tristan inside the room. Making him sit on the couch, Ashley soon joined him and asked.

"Are you sure Gavin and Jenny are serious about each other? I mean don’t you find it hard that they agreed to date each other right after their first meet’’

Ashley might be wrong to judge Gavin and Jenny, but after observing her brother-in-law, she found something was wrong.

Tristan pouted watching her serious expression and complained," Why are you interested in them? Can’t you see I came all the way from the office just to see you"
