Chapter 506: I am not your type"
Jenny tilted her head and stared at Gavin in anticipation before she let out a chuckle in disbelief.
"Don’t tell even you didn’t see my picture before coming here" she said learning how similar they had been at this point.
Claudie had forwarded her the time and location along with his photo attached, but she simply refused to see it. Jenny knew she would eventually reject the boy after spending five minutes with him, so had no liking he seeing who the person was.
"You too" he asked and watched her bob her head in agreement.
Jenny turned back to her seat and motioned Gavin to sit." I wasn’t expecting to see you either" she said with a light smile.
The displeasure Jenny felt before was now replaced with amusement. Watching Gavin sitting before her gave her a sense of relief.
Gavin was taken aback by her genuineness. He remembered how she ran away from him the other day. It left him wondering if he did something wrong for her to leave without a proper goodbye. But now, watching her being back to normal, he somehow felt at ease. At least he didn’t have to put an act, behaving out of his character.
"By the way, how come we never met? I heard our parents are friends but I never once saw you at any gathering" Gavin initiated the conversation after a brief pause.
Now that he knew who his blind date was, he couldn’t help but ask the doubts that popped up with Jenny’s appearance.
"I don’t live with my parents. It’s been years since I moved out from our familial house and started living independently" Jenny didn’t find any clams from sharing the truth. It was her initial plan when she decided to attend the blind date. All she wanted to be was true about herself.
Gavin frowned at how frankly she shared her thoughts without restraining the truth. He felt somewhat amused with her straightforwardness.
"No doubt you turn out to be the best surgeon" he couldn’t help but praise. Now that he heard her, Gavin recalled the information he gathered about her, but never once did it click into his mind that she must be the same Jenny Han, the doctor he had joined hand in finding the general’s daughter.
Jenny simply smiled at his comment, before falling silent. Though she was comfortable being here with him, still the lingering awkwardness from that day didn’t seem to leave her mind.
Jenny knew it was just an accident and she shouldn’t be thinking too much. But when she recalled how her body began to react to their closeness, she couldn’t help but feel shy. It’s been years after Landon since she allowed herself to be this close with someone and now that she did, it left a mark on her mind.
’Why did she feel that way’ she had been asking herself since that moment, secretly going through the message he sent, but there was nothing she could conclude.
She had concealed all her emotions after she lost the most important person in her life. His death shattered her to the core and no matter how much she tried to forget him, she couldn’t move on, but Gavin... his thoughts were slowly making their way to her mind, momentary letting her forget about Landon.
Gavin expected Jenny to speak something, but when she didn’t say a word and kept spacing out, he decided to speak instead.
"By the way Jenny... there is something I want to make clear to you" his voice snapped Jenny out of her thoughts and she looked at him in a daze. It took her a moment to recollect her thoughts before fully focusing on Gavin.
"Even I have something to tell you" she joined hoping whatever she would say, Gavin would respect it.
"Go ahead" he expressed and Jenny took a deep breath before opening her mouth and said,
"I don’t think anything can happen between us. This blind date was arranged by our parents and I don’t intend to take it seriously, because I was never interested in the first place" she said keeping her eyes sternly on Gavin. Jenny didn’t flinch before expressing her true opinion as she was sure nothing was going to happen between them.
Gavin was taken aback by her boldness but quickly composed himself. "Even I was going to say the same," he said but with much hesitation.
Even though Gavin was totally against this blind date concept that his mother imposed on him. But learning Jenny was the girl he was set up with, his thoughts began to waver. At the back of his mind, he began to feel the curiosity of knowing more about her as a person.
Throughout their meeting inside the coffee shop, Jenny had been quite upfront about whether it was her doubts regarding his relationship with Bianca or whether he was genuinely going to find her. She had been clear with her perspective on regard towards his response. It took him an act of immense courage to lie to her knowing how she easily agreed with him.
Gavin could tell Jenny was truly worried for her friend, but he was bound to confide the truth from her. But now that he thought about it, Gavin felt she was someone whom he could entirely put his trust into.
’But the girl bluntly rejected him’ he smiled mentally at his fate before stretching his lips evidently.
Jenny frowned when she saw him smile and asked," Why are you smiling?"
"No, it’s nothing" Gavin answered brushing off her doubts as her eyes normalized on his response but then he quickly added asking.
"What about your parents? What will you tell them" Gavin wanted to know how was she going to deal with her parents. Maybe he could use the same reason.
Jenny thought for a moment contemplating on what basis was she going to reject him. Either way, her mother was going to know the truth, but for now, she had to come up with a convincing rejection reason.
"How about you tell your mother that I am not your type" she debated.
Jenny couldn’t be the one to decline him, so she wanted him to be the one to reject her.
"And how do you know who is my type Doctor Jenny" Gavin cocked his brows and leisurely took a seat back as he watched her eyes go wide at his sudden statement.
