Chapter 477: Sorted
Sitting on the bed, Ashley once again looked at the time. It had been an hour since Tristan was gone. She did receive a text from him informing her about his sudden meeting with Gabriel yet she didn’t stop waiting for him.
Heaving out a sigh, she climbed down from the bed and walked onto the balcony when she heard the sound of a car entering the Mansion gates.
A sense of relief crossed her eyes and she walked back into the room ready to open the door for him.
She was too quick to reach the door of their room and opened it only to find Tristan making his way upstairs.
The moment he climbed the last step, he stopped and their eyes met. Tristan’s heart pounded inside his chest and he wondered if she was still waiting for him.
He had long given the thought of giving her space. He couldn’t bear the distance she tried to put since morning. It was too much for him to handle.
How can he stay away from her... No way in the world he would survive without her presence.
As those unsaid thoughts lingered in his mind, Tristan’s legs began to move on their own as he approached his wife standing by their bedroom door.
The way her eyes silently stared at him Tristan couldn’t hold the urge to grab her chin and kiss her endlessly.
Ashley gasped when Tristan stopped in front of her. All her worries flew out of the window and a sense of relief crossed her heart.
"Why are you still awake? You must be tired because of continuous shooting" Stopping himself from acting recklessly, Tristan held back his urge to kiss her.
An entire day passed without him hearing anything from her or seeing her and the moment he saw a glimpse of her beautiful face, Tristan hesitated.
When did he start to feel so cautious around her, he thought? But knowing how he messed up the other night spoiling their beautiful moment, Tristan felt it was better if he kept himself to the limit.
Ashley noticed the restriction in his actions and suddenly she remembered the silent treatment.
Ashley wasn’t a cold-hearted person when it came to Tristan, but his actions lately had started to bother her. If it hadn’t gone beyond her limitation she wouldn’t have forgiven him way earlier than this.
Staring at him without uttering a word Ashley tried to access his emotions and suddenly felt a pinch in her heart. She was expecting a kiss from him but found him resisting.
Instead, he questioned her for waiting for him.
’Wasn’t he happy that I am no longer angry with him’
Ashley’s brows furrowed when he acted like he wasn’t expecting her to wait for him.
"I was waiting for you. You left without a word and texted long after I called you" She was hurt but still managed to keep her composure.
Tristan pursed his lips into a thin line and bobbed his head. "I am sorry. I thought you wouldn’t look for me, so I left without informing"
Ashley gave him a disappointed look and turned around. "Get in, I am sleepy" With the coldness in her tone, she walked further into the room.
Tristan on the other hand silently followed her.
’Did I upset her again’ he wondered.
Tristan found it difficult to understand how he was supposed to improve her mood towards him. Their relationship wasn’t this difficult, but lately, because of his insecurities, he started finding it hard to behave in front of her.
As he followed her, suddenly Ashley stopped and turned around to face him and asked," Did you call Dad today?"
Ashley wanted to keep the conversation going between them. She wanted to eliminate the awkwardness because now it was getting too much for her to handle.
Stopping right behind her Tristan looked at her with bafflement. Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he then gave her an answering nod.
"I just wanted to check on him. He is been traveling for quite some time now"
"Then what about others you called after that? They weren’t traveling. Not that you don’t see them every day" she continued crossing her hands, while her eyes kept looking at him intently.
Ashley mentally smirked when his face changed from embarrassed to shocked. She so wanted to keep pulling his leg, letting him realize how childishly he acted, just because he was missing her and wasn’t able to fathom the courage to talk with her by himself.
Did he take her for stupid?
She now understood what he was trying to do by keeping away from her. He was trying to give her space. He thought maybe being around her would suffocate her, but she wanted to stay away from him either way.
Tristan watched her smirked and just like getting struck by a thunderbolt, the mountain of embarrassment made him hide his face in shame.
He just wanted to pass his time trying to forget about their fight and ended up calling everyone, including his parents and sister whom he just met at the breakfast table this morning.
As if losing his voice in shame, Tristan immediately looked away and scratched his forehead.
"I... I was just concerned for them" he tried to justify his actions but stuttered helplessly.
Tristan realized how much of a fool he was and now he had no face to face his wife.
Watching him behave oddly as he tried to hide his embarrassment, Ashley let out a chuckle. She covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing wholeheartedly but she also knew it would be disrespectful for Tristan.
She didn’t want to take advantage of his helplessness but he was too cute to resist. He would make mistakes and to mend them he would end up doing things that melted her heart.
After a heartfelt laughter, she finally stopped and walked toward Tristan whose back was now facing her. He didn’t dare to look at her and kept hiding his bewilderment.
Reaching out her hand she clasped his shoulder and made him look at her. Her eyes grew wide when she noticed the blush on his cheeks and how he had been lowering his gaze in shyness in front of her.
"You know everyone was surprised by your gesture and your words did give them a benefit of the doubt that we fought" She stated the truth but in a gentle way.
Tristan stood there with his head down when suddenly Ashley made him look up placing her hand under his chin and smiled.
"You are really bad at pretending Tristan. You thought that by staying away from me, you would manage to give me space. Can you even survive yourself" she asked slowly wrapping her arms around his waist and took a step closer.
"But I was wrong and you not wanting to see was justified" Tristan finally pondered realizing his mistake. Yes, he was overprotective of her and would end up hurting her with his possessiveness, but he never wanted to stop her from doing what she liked or urged her to do.
Ashley couldn’t resist the cuteness on his face and leaned forward before pecking his lips. "So what did you conclude? Were you right or not?" she asked even though she knew what he was about to say.
He had said it many times for now...still, she wanted to hear him again.
Tristan looked at her smiling face and sighed before snaking his arms around her and said, "I won’t stop you from doing anything, but I also won’t stop myself from being over-protective. I love you and watching you getting hurt rips my heart"
His words swayed her resolve and she understood his fears even more deeply. She knew this nature of his was never going to change. He was born that way, so she decided to let him do as he wished without misunderstanding his actions anymore.
"But you can’t keep on complaining now and then, your reaction scares me" she responded with a pout only to get laughed at by Tristan in return.
"You!... scared of me, no way" his reaction made Ashley frown and she slapped his arm in return.
"You do scare me at times. It’s unpredictable to guess how you would react. You look scary"
"...."
