Chapter 425: Healing together

Alice held her breath, as she remained frozen on her seat. The bad memories from her past came rushing through her mind, breaking away all the good ones and she couldn’t help but feel her blood run dry.

Her hand that was aiding him trembled dropping the cotton bud.

Alarmed by her reaction, Noah panicked and immediately pulled away his hand from her hold and kneeled down in front of her.

"Alice... look at me," he said immediately cupping her face as he made her look at him.

"Breath okay, just breath" he tenderly spoke and started imitating. Taking a deep breath he tried to enact.

Alice wasn’t entirely healed from the trauma she faced in her past. They still triggered her when mentioned. They weren’t as severe as before, but the thought of it can sometimes make her freeze.

Caressing her face, Noah kept doing breath in and breath out, requesting her to follow him. In the beginning, she did react, but sooner, she started hearing him and slowly followed his words and action repeating them until she returned to normal.

Her entire body had turned cold, but the caressing of his palm warm her up and soon tears brimmed in her eyes. She tried to speak but words didn’t seem to leave her mouth and in the end, she broke down.

Taking her in his embrace, Noah tried to comfort her. He thought after so long she finally managed to put herself back, but with Dylan’s constant fear, it was hard for her to entirely forget her past.

His name itself was a threat to her life and now Noah was more determined to eliminate him out of their life.

Once Alice was stabilized he told her everything that Officer James mentioned. He even told her from now on they had to be more cautious than before.

With Dylan being underground before, it was kind of hard for cops to locate him, but now with Lucas’s death, they were sure he would step out.

Alice remained silent as she tried to absorb his words. She knew she shouldn’t let her fears overtake her subconscious mind and should bravely face her demons, no matter how many times they try to show up.

Being weak wasn’t something she want to be. She wanted to fight her fears and the cause of it.

Wiping off the tears from her face, she bobbed her head and said," I won’t let him scare me anymore. I won’t let him break me again" came her firm words.

It was time for her to break free and overcome her trauma. She had to stand her ground strong and face Dylan. Even if it was today or any other day, she had to face him.

Noah was taken aback by her words, but when he noticed the determination in her eyes, he understood, that his Alice can beat anything to overcome her demons.

Proud of her braveness, he immediately leaned and sealed her lips. He couldn’t stop himself from showering her with the love he carried for her in his heart.

"I trust you," he said and slowly pulled back.

The silence drew between the two when Alice noticed the cut in his hand and immediately resumed her aiding. She warned him to never lose his temper no matter how hard the situation would turn. He had to remain clear-headed and think wisely.

Keeping her words in mind Noah then carried her toward the bathroom. After making love, Alice dozed off to sleep, so the first thing he did was to let her take a shower.

He made sure, not to leave her alone, even though she assured him that she was fine. Yet, his heart wasn’t ready to part from her.

In the end, he ended up staying inside and watched her clean herself. His member did cause him trouble by twitching underneath his pant, but he ignored it bluntly letting it suffer in silence before they both stepped out of the bathroom.

After spending two more days, Ashley was finally discharged from the hospital and was currently resting inside her room.

Tristan never left her side and stayed with her, giving company.

"You should get back to work Tristan. I will be fine" Ashley spoke following Tristan who kept moving inside their bedroom doing something or the other to keep himself busy.

"No, I am not leaving you alone," he said ignoring her words for the fourth time.

She had been trying to convince him to resume his work. Being the CEO of the company doesn’t ask him to neglect his responsibility for personal reasons.

He had already missed a lot of work that needed his attention, but this man wasn’t ready to leave her side. He was worried that she might keep on thinking about their child and hurt herself by keeping it to herself. But he forgot, more than her it was he who missed him and to stop himself from tearing up he needed to stay around her.

She was the reason for his sanity, and leaving her side wasn’t something he would afford.

Watching him neglect her words, Ashley dropped the thought of convincing him anymore and decided to rest.

Once Tristan was done doing whatever he was up to, he made his way towards the bed and hopped in sleeping next to his wife.

Lately, it had been hard for her to catch sleep but whenever she did, he would make sure not to disturb her, or else she would wake up even with the slightest voice.

Laying on his side, Tristan observed her tired face. She claimed to be fine but only he knew she wasn’t. She was trying to act strong, but only he knew it wasn’t the case.

He promised to cherish the moment they spent together with their child and prayed one day that god will grant them with the same happiness without taking it back.

Tristan didn’t move an inch and kept staring at her ignorant of how much time passed by. It was only Ashley’s moan that snapped him out of this trance.

"How long did I sleep?" she asked slowly opening her eyes.

Ashley had already sensed his presence next to her when she genuinely fell asleep. It left her surprised that she didn’t stir up even for a moment and remained sound asleep.

Tristan on the other hand didn’t answer back and just kept staring at her. His heart wasn’t content even after he kept observing her face for one and a half hours straight.

He could keep on staring at her for all his life and never get bored. Her presence itself was enough to vanish the void inside his heart and for her, he too will try to stay strong and heal from their loss.

As they both kept looking at each other, it was Ashley who finally broke the stare and looked down.

Pushing herself up she then turned to face him and saw him sit up. Ashley was a bit hesitant to speak, but after much thought, she realized she couldn’t keep on going like this and it was time for her to resume back her life.

After much silence, she finally spoke," I want to resume shooting". The moment those words left her mouth Tristan frowned.

"You haven’t recovered yet," he said quickly rejecting her the next instant.

Ashley frowned when he bluntly declined her, but then she realized where this rejection came from.

Knowing Sandra was still out there hiding somewhere, Tristan didn’t have the heart to leave Ashley alone. The shooting could wait as he was the one who was going to produce it. But Ashley didn’t want to prolong it anymore.

She had already wasted a lot of time and now she wanted to get her life back on track. Just because they weren’t able to capture Sandra, it didn’t mean their life would come to a standstill.

She had faced many hardships and was strong enough to fight even more. She wasn’t a coward who would hide somewhere just because her life was under constant threat.

Heaving out a sigh, she cupped his face and made him look at her. "We can’t keep on going like this. We have to face everything no matter what circumstances await ahead" She started to put some sense into his scared mind.

The unshakeable Mafia leader was getting scared of something which was irrelevant. But she would let this fear shake his strength.

"Sandra is still out there. What if she-"

"Shh..." she stopped him from speaking by resting her finger on his lips and shook her head.

"She won’t do anything, since everyone has already turned their back on her and I know we would soon be able to find her. So, please... never let these fear overpower your rational thoughts" she said and slowly leaned forward to kiss him.

It was just a gentle peck but was enough to soothe his wrecking nerves.

Ashley was about to retreat when suddenly Tristan pulled her back and dived in for a passionate kiss. These small pecks weren’t something he preferred. They have been passionate and wild and doing stuff that would only enhance their desire wasn’t something he would neglect.
