Chapter 255: Two boring people in one frame

The car entered the main gates of the Agency building where Ashley saw Miley already waiting for her at the entrance.

"Miley is already here," she said turning her attention toward Tristan.

Ducking his head down Tristan watched Ashley’s manager who had reached earlier than them and was already waiting for her.

"Hmm..." he hummed bringing back his attention to his wife and said," I know you don’t like being crowded, but Jack, I want him to be around you. In that way, I would be kept updated about your surrounding"

Tristan knew Ashley was against his idea of letting his men follow her, but after the kidnapping incident, Ashley didn’t dare to reject him. And with Jack being her personal guard she could feel more relaxed.

Bobbing her head in understanding Ashley pecked his lips before stepping out of the car and saw Jack already standing next to the car.

Giving a meaningful glance to Jack, Tristan slide up the window and drove away from there.

"Let’s go," she said with a smile and walked toward the entrance where Miley was already waiting.

Jack maintained his distance and followed Ashley silently when he saw a lady who stood there all the time suddenly rush towards them.

"Good morning ma’am" Miley greeted Ashley with a polite smile and then turned her eyes to her side and frowned in confusion.

"He..." she mumbled pointing her forefinger at Jack and looked at Ashley in questioning.

"Oh, let me introduce you both. Jack this is Miley my manager and Miley this is Jack my new bodyguard" Ashley said moving her hand back and forth between Miley and Jack.

"Good morning Miss Miley" Jack spoke with his robotic voice making both the girl look at him in surprise.

The man looked too young to carry such a deep voice, but then she should judge anyone for being so manly.

Ashley who was too new to this tone gave Jack a strange look before she turned her eyes to Miley who had the same reaction as hers.

"Ahem... "

Jack cleared his throat when he saw both the girls giving him a strange look and snapped them out of the trance.

Turning her head Ashley motioned for Jack to come closer to her and whisper," Can you act like a normal guard? This tone is making you sound like a broken machine"

Ashley knew Jack wasn’t like this a few days back, but today he appeared a little different. She was now missing his old approachable behavior.

Jack shot his eyes wide at Ashley and watched her give him a displeased look. He opened his mouth but close it back as he felt at a loss for words.

Sensing the embarrassment on his face Ashley patted his shoulder before she turned and walked inside the building followed by Miley.

Reaching the top floor of the building the trio stepped out of the elevator and headed towards Finn’s cabin since he was the one who was going to introduce her to the director of the move.

Knocking on the door, Ashley stepped inside the cabin asking Miley to accompany Jack outside.

There was an awkward silence between the two since they both didn’t know each other to even have any common topic for the conversation. Biting her lips in anticipation, Miley decided to break the silence, now that she was alone with him.

"So?" Miley asked turning her eyes toward Jack.

She had been observing the boy and could tell that he was new to this field of being someone’s bodyguard.

In these few months, she had been familiar with Tristan’s men who lurk around them without even their knowledge. They carried this strong manly aura and by the blank looks on their face, she could tell who they were. But this boy, the way he tried to fit himself into the criteria just made her smile.

Jack had been standing ideally maintaining his posture knitted his brow and turned to look at the girl next to him in confusion.

"Huh!, Did you say something, Miss Miley," he asked.

Miley stared at the boy, who was still unknown of her words, let out a sigh.

"Are you going to stiffen your body by standing like a statue the entire time?" Miley said showing him the empty corridor. "There is no one around to look at you so you relax" she further continued.

Jack looked at Miley in disbelief before he turned his eyes around the corridor and found no one but just the two standing alone.

Jack didn’t realize that the girl had already sensed his discomfort, but now that he was assigned to a reputed job, he didn’t want to look lazy.

He had been genuinely trying to keep up his role as a guard following the lessons he had gotten in these few days. Though he wasn’t accustomed to it entirely still he was trying his best.

"It’s okay I am good," Jack said clearing his throat and averted his eyes from Miley, hiding his embarrassed face.

Letting out a chuckle, Miley shook her head in amusement. She had already sensed his uneasiness but still, he was trying to keep up.

’Stubborn kid’ she thought with the smile still lingering on her face.

Jack didn’t realize the girl had an observing eye, that she easily read his posture. Impressed, Jack looked at Miley from the corner of his eyes and smiled.

Inside the cabin, Finn was happy to introduce Ashley to Bernard Franklin, the director of her upcoming untitled movie.

The casting call for the second lead character was going around for some time now. Bernard was finding it hard to get the girl who perfectly matched his character name, Liza.

He was thinking of getting a well-known face on board since the character was impactful and needed a bold and fierce appearance. But whoever he approached didn’t meet the criteria and he had to step down from that thought for a while until he met Finn at an event.

Being a good friend he went on suggesting him on casting a new face and he also had someone in mind who could fit the bill.

Bernard was satisfied to see Ashley’s appearance matched perfectly with the character, he had imagined in his mind named Liza, the second female lead. Though she didn’t have a long screen time but she carried a significant role in the entire film.

"Now I understood why Finn was so excited when he told me about you and I am glad that I trusted him. It will be nice working with you" Bernard genuinely felt happy that his search had finally come to an end.

Ashley was perfect for Liza’s character and now he was looking forward to what this young girl had to deliver.

After having some talk, Bernard left the office as he had a meeting with other cast members.

"I am happy that you are going to work in Bernard’s direction. He is a very creative man and I am sure you will be able to learn so much from him"

"All thanks to you. If not for your suggestion, I wouldn’t be able to challenge myself. So thank you Finn for always standing like a pillar, guiding me all this time" Ashley respected Finn for being so knowledgeable toward her. It was his hand for uplifting her career from scratch and making her who she was now.

She will always be grateful to him but from here on, she had to create her own path and make a name in the acting world.

Discussing a few things with Finn, Ashley bid goodbye and stepped out of the room. Her eyes went to see Jack who stood there in the same alert position doing his job and then it fell on Miley who stood next to him lazily.

She wanted them to get familiar with each other now that Jack was going to tag them everywhere, but the scene ahead said other things.

"What’s next in the schedule," Ashley said standing in front of them, breaking their lazy composure.

Heaving out a sigh, Miley finally break free from the pin-drop silence and straighten herself, before she started dictating the following plans.

Tristan went through back-to-back meetings with Jack keeping him updated about Ashley’s whereabouts. He felt glad that he picked Jack for this job. He knew Jack wasn’t that mature enough to carry risk but the determination in his work and to improve himself made him change his mind.

Looking at the picture in which Jack had just him, Tristan let out a smile. Ashley was having a photoshoot and he was happy to see her active enough to carry herself professionally.

Zooming on one of the pictures, he tried to find the marks on her wrist but was amused when he didn’t see them.

Tristan was so busy admiring Ashley’s picture that he forgot about still being in the meeting hall sitting amongst his employees.

"Boss. just. smiled" one of the employees whispered.
