Chapter 248: Taken

Noah and Alice walked inside the studio, hand in hand catching many eyes staring at them in awe.

"Isn’t that Noah Wayne," one of the staff members asked.

"Are they together" came another voice just as surprised as the one earlier.

Everyone around was awestruck by the beautiful couple as they watched them walk together heading towards Alice’s office.

"No doubt the man had stopped coming to the nightclubs," said the lady who had seen Noah flirting with many women before. Being the labeled playboy it wasn’t easy for anyone to not recognize him.

Noah on the other hand was enjoying the attention they were getting and felt so proud to walk with Alice, letting the entire world know that he was taken and had no room for anyone else.

Entering the cabin, Alice let go of Noah’s hand and walked toward her desk. Placing her handbag on the table she then took a seat and looked at Noah who had his eyes scrutinizing the room.

Noah was amazed by Alice’s thoughtfulness in keeping the space tidy with only the needed things around. Looking around, his eyes then fell on the bulletin board with a few pictures tucked on it.

Alice had a good sense of vision, and the pictures she captured with her camera looked so lively. No doubt she had achieved so much reorganization. It was all because of her hard work and dedication, which brought her to this stage.

"Do you like traveling?" Noah asked, his eyes never averting from the pictures.

"Hmm... I used to but now with busy schedules, I barely get any time to click random pictures" Alice said recalling the initial days of her career when she used to travel a lot taking random photos that would catch her attention. It was like a soothing moment for her, away from all the chaos and hardship she faced after separating from her parents.

Ashley was the one with her but she didn’t want to depend on her for her daily needs. So she took a few jobs while completing her studies.

Noah bobbed his head in understanding. He knew how busy they were in both of their lives but they still managed to find time themselves.

He then walked around and took a seat on the couch as he watched Alice do her work. This was the very first time he had to step his feet inside her studio and he was quite impressed with the way Alice was committed to her work.

Alice had just started to concentrate on her work when she felt Noah’s intense eyes on her. Lifting her head, she watched him stare at her with admiration and a sudden heat creep on her cheeks turning them pink.

"Will you stop staring at me? It’s very intimidating" she spoke whatever she felt and heard him chuckle back in return.

She was bold for the outside world but in front of him, she would lose her strength. His eyes had the tendency to make her melt in no time, making her feel cautious about her actions.

"You asked me to behave. Look I am on my best behavior now don’t ask me to stop looking at you" Noah was trying his best to keep his hands off her and behave but he didn’t realize even his staring was bothering her.

Alice regretted allowing him to stay with her. She forgot the man was too witty in twisting his words with his actions confusing her own thoughts.

"Ahem... but still don’t look at me that way, it’s distracting me" averting her eyes from his playful gaze, Alice tried to concentrate back on her work.

Alice knew with Noah being around her, she was never going to finish a single work.

Brown mansion

After the kids left Richard soon started missing them. These few days with her and Tristan staying with him made this house come back to life.

He knew both the kids had their respective work to look after and they wouldn’t be staying with him for lifelong, so to avert his thoughts from missing them, he decided to take a stroll into the garden area.

Picking up a sprinkling can, Richard started to water the plants. When he had nothing to do, he would like to take care of these flowers around. It reminded him how Raven was obsessed with them and took care of them like babies.

"Are you watching me, Raven? I am taking care of them just like you did" he talked to himself imagining his wife was there besides listening to him.

Spending his time gardening, Richard then washed his hands and turned around to head back inside the house when his eyes caught something unusual. Something shined from the corner of the entrance wall and he halted his step.

’What was that?’ he thought and was about to take a step to have a better look when Piper came out of nowhere.

"Master, the lunch is ready" Piper’s voice broke his attention from the thing he was looking for and he turned around passing her a nod.

Richard forgot what he was doing and walked inside the house. Piper who was still standing in the same place looked in the direction where Richard was looking at, she heaved out a sigh.

’Thank god he didn’t see it’ she assured herself feeling grateful that she came at the right time and stopped him from seeing the cameras that were fixed on that spot.

Taking a deep breath, she quickly composed herself and followed her master before anyone could see them getting suspicious.

Piper had been very cautious about her actions lately. She had never said to anyone that she had found some cameras placed all around the premises.

After that night when she was knocked down, Piper tried to act as if she had no recollection of what had happened to her because somewhere deep inside her heart, she knew something wasn’t right.

Tori, the new assistant chef, she found her quite mysterious. Though she didn’t say it to her face but her actions lately had been very suspicious. The way her sharp eyes kept stalking her made her a little cautious around her.

She didn’t know what was her motive for stepping inside the Brown mansion, but now she wanted to find it and for that, she had to act dumb. She knew it was her behind her fainting that night because after walking up she found her bracelet in her hand.

She didn’t mention it to anyone and quietly she sneaked into her room secretly keeping it on the bedside table.

Once she was inside the house, her eyes caught the sight of Tori suspiciously looking at Richard, but the latter seemed to be in his own world.

Standing right next to Tori, she said," Get the food on the table" her voice broke her gaze from the old man. Blinking her eyes Tori turned to look at Piper who quickly changed her expression from blank to smile and walked past her inside the kitchen.

Tori watched Piper in a daze before she looked back at Richard and then followed the lady.

"Where did you go?" Tori asked Piper went she noticed her return just after Richard came from the garden area.

"Oh, I just went to call Master. He needs to have the meals on time before taking the medicines. He is diabetic" she said placing the food bowls on the tray and turned to leave.

Tori bobbed her head, her eyes watching her retreating back. She knew Piper was acting strangely recently. Her talks with her were limited after the day she opened up about her deceased daughter.

Maybe she reminded her about her daughter very much which was why she was maintaining her distance from her. But little did she know this wasn’t the case.

Composing her thoughts, she picked up the remaining bowl of food and walked out of the kitchen.

After spending sometimes with Tristan soothing his jealous heart, Ashley finally climbed down his lap and resume her script reading.

Sitting next to her ideally, Tristan started playing with her hair strand, trying to distract her. He was suddenly acting like a child trying to grasp her attention but failed when she didn’t even turn to him even for once.

"I think you should go and do some work darling. Your constant need for attention is not working here" Ashley said lazily without looking at him.

She was so immersed in her reading that she barely spare a glance at him.

Tristan pouted feeling neglected by Ashley, swift and laid down with his head resting on her lap, "I am not going anywhere. I will stay here until you notice" concluding he laid there with his hands crossed while his eyes fixed on the gorgeous face.

Busy admiring his wife Tristan didn’t realize when his eyes turned heavy and he fell asleep. "Tristan, can you please get up, my legs are getting numb" Ashley asked suddenly feeling discomfort in her legs but got no response.

"Tristan get up please" She said once again pulling away the script from her eyes and saw Tristan fallen asleep.
