Chapter 230: She blame herself

The next morning both Ashley and Gwen along with Noah ended up waking with a severe headache.

Last night turned out to be both fun and exhausting for all the couples. Fun because they managed to make their partners jealous and exhausting because they ended up having heated make-out sessions, which drained them both mentally and physically.

"I warned you not to drink it. See what you’ve gotten yourself into" After passing Gwen the cup of green tea, Karl pulled the chair for himself before he sat next to her.

Avoiding meeting Karl’s gaze, Gwen quickly took the cup and began blowing it before she took a sip.

"I feel like my head is going to split into two" Noah hissed pinching his temple while he kept resting his head on Alice’s shoulder.

"Do you want another bottle to empty babe? I think it will help you cure the pain" she said looking next to her shoulder.

Alice purposely reminded him how he finished three bottles in a row before she came and stopped him from having the fourth one. If not for her presence, he would’ve surely been demoted to the infirmary nearby.

Making a puppy face, Noah ignored the sarcastic words and snuggled into her neck," Hmm... this feels much better"

Rolling her eyes at his cheesy behavior, Alice pulled his ear," Behave" making him whine Noah was about to complain when they heard Tristan’s voice.

"I thought we would be exploring the island today, but now looking at you all, I think we need to skip this plan for the next day"

Tristan had made the list of the things they were supposed to do after they came to country X. He had everything preplanned but now he had to postpone a few of his plans.

Noah bobbed his head agreeing with Tristan and pulled himself away from Alice

"I think we need to rest and recuperate from the hangover. Come babe let’s go to bed" Noah was about to get up but Alice’s deadly glare made him sit back on the seat.

"Are you feeling better now" clenching her teeth she asked and watched him gulp?

"Yes... I mean No." scared Noah pulled his chair a little away from Alice and forced a smile looking at everyone who caught his lie.

Noah was like that sneaky, naughty kid who came with excuses hoping, he wouldn’t be caught but failed badly.

"I think we should skip any of our plans and stick to what we have decided," Ashley said.

"Yes, I agree with sister-in-law" Gwen who had been quiet all the time spoke.

"Okay then, if that is what you have decided then let’s continue with our plans" Tristan declared and they all finished the breakfast before they walked back to the rooms to get change.

Browns mansion

Since the children were out enjoying their vacations the elder decided to have a gathering at the Brown’s mansion.

Herd and Dante were busy playing chess trying to make the other lose the game while Grace and Trevor took a stroll around the mansion along with Richard.

"Raven would’ve been so happy to see our kids together," Grace said looking at the huge portrait of her best friend hanging inside Richard’s study.

Her eyes well up as she began missing her. If she wouldn’t move to another country, she and Raven would still have been in contact and she wouldn’t have missed being with her at her last moment.

"Yes, she would’ve been the happiest" Richard agreed before taking a seat on the couch.

"She used to talk about you a lot, telling stories about how you never let anyone bully her. You would keep missing her dearest friend" Richard’s words made Grace’s heart swell with pain and a tear roll down her eyes.

"She is in a better place and is watching over us from the sky" Trevor wrapped his arms around Grace’s shoulder, watching her slowly wipe off the tears.

With a happy smile, she bobbed her head before they turned and took their respective seats.

"When did you found about her cancer?" Grace asked, eager to know about her friend’s life.

"Before Ashley’s birth" Richards’s smiled faltered as he lowered his eyes, recalling how difficult it was for her to carry their daughter knowing how it would affect her life too.

Grace could sense something off with the way he ignored meeting her eyes.

"Ashley’s birth was never planned but Raven was adamant to keep her" he continued.

"Does Ashley knows about it?" Grace asked and watched him nod his head.

"That’s why she avoids talking about her mother because she blames herself for taking away her mother’s life" his eyes dimmed with sadness.

It had been months since she met Ashley but never once had she mentioned Raven on her own, except for the day she showed her some of their old photos and even talked about the times they were together.

She had seen how her eyes shrink with different emotions within them but she was too quick to hide them from her.

"I could understand what Ashley must be feeling, but she should also know that it isn’t her fault. It was Raven’s decision to give birth"

"I know. But for Ashley, it became a bitter truth that she can’t swallow but keep to herself without throwing it"

Though Ashley said she didn’t blame herself but deep inside he knew she did.

There was nothing no one could do about it but to let it be as if was, until one day she would finally realize why her mother decided to take such a big step.

Back in the resort, the couples finally began their trek. The island was vast with many trees and bushes covering the place. It was a maze-like forest, hard to memorize the way.

Tagging along with their partners, the pairs began exploring the place. Once they cross the long tress, a serene place came into their view which connected to the other side of the water.

"Woah...This place is heaven" their footsteps slowed down when they reached the other side of the island where there was nothing but clear blue water.

Their trek came to a halt once they reached the place where Tristan guided everyone.

"He knew about this place?" Noah asked turning his attention from the vast water towards Tristan and watched him nod his head.

"When?"

"A few years back. I just stroll around to the other side of the island and came to find this place. Very few people know about it" he said.

Noah was amazed at how Tristan was able to find such a calm and beautiful place, quickly gave him a thumbs up.

Since the plan was to spend a night, they carried a camping tent along with some beverages and food to eat for a day.

Soon the tent was set up and Ashley hopped in laying flat inside the cozy space. Tristan too stepped in and sipped the tent before he joined his wife and pulled her closer to him.

"Do you like it here?" he asked caressing her arms with his eyes looking next to her.

"Hmm.. very much" snuggling closer to Tristan she inhaled his manly odor.

They both lay still when Tristan broke the silence." About last night, I didn’t realize that my actions will hurt you so much. I am sorry" pulling her closer he kissed her head.

Tristan was never going to act immaturely like he did last night. The actions he used to prove his words affected his wife badly and she cried because of him.

"You better be" she fake an angry tone and prop her head up, meeting his sincere eyes.

She had already come to realize it but her jealousy took over her rational mind and she acted stupid, giving him hard time.

She cupped his face brushing her cheeks lovingly, getting spelled by his clear blue eyes, and moved forward to plant a kiss on his lips." Never do that again. I can’t imagine you with someone else except me"

Ashley didn’t hold back her insecurity and expressed it vocally. Tristan bob his head and kissed her back again," I won’t, never ever again" he concluded.

While Ashley and Tristan were having deep conversations, in a tent next to them Karl and Gwen lay down without uttering a word to each other.

Gwen had been avoiding talking with Karl after she remembered the things she did last night. She was embarrassed by her and didn’t know how was she supposed to face Karl.

With her eyes closed, Gwen acted to fake sleep as she didn’t know what was she supposed to do in such an awkward situation.

’You should’ve thought before you sneakily gulped Karl’s drink’ her subconscious mind scolded her.

Karl who was sleeping next to her with his head resting on his palm turned his gaze slightly towards the girl who was acting weird since morning.

He had been observing her the entire time and he could tell that she was ignoring him because she remembered her action last night.

"Gwen, I know you aren’t sleeping?" Karl’s gentle yet deep voice made Gwen freeze on her spot
