Chapter 96: The Archdemon’s Summons
Chapter 96: Chapter 96: The Archdemon’s Summons
So much time had passed and he had yet to meet any humans. He could not torture them if he could not even lay eyes on them. But finally the day had come. He would leave the demon world and satisfy his urges.
His long fingers clenched at his sides as he paced back and forth. His movements were sharp, restless and full of suppressed fury. He stopped suddenly, his dark eyes narrowing as he glanced into the distance. A twisted grin stretched across his pale face, but it did not hide the madness in his gaze.
"No longer," he muttered under his breath. His voice was low and cold. It was trembling with an edge of excitement. "No longer am I confined because of that cursed wall."
The thought of the wall soured his mood. His grin twisted into a snarl. His sharp teeth glinted as he bit out, "Why is it always us? Why were demons the only ones confined? Why not these pathetic humans?"
The anger in his voice grew louder with each word. His claws flexed as though he could tear apart the very thought of that wall. His eyes burned with an intense fiery rage and glowing faintly in the dim light of his surroundings.
"Just wait," he said with his tone dropping into a growl. He tilted his head , the wild hair falling over his face. but it did not hide the mad glint in his eyes. "You lowly creatures...you pathetic, hopeless humans. Just wait!"
He threw his head back and let out a bitter laugh. His shoulders shook with each mocking chuckle. the sound filled with contempt and bloodlust. "Our lord has returned!" he declared with pride and madness.
His lean figure straightened as he looked into the distance. His hands curled into tight fists. his claws digging into his own palms but he did not care. Pain meant nothing compared to the satisfaction he felt at the thought of revenge.
"The wall will fall," He said with a big and uncontrolled grin. "And then you will know. You will see who the true overlords of this world are."
His sharp eyes gleamed with a mix of pride and expectation. He could already imagine the chaos , the fear and the screams. The thought made his lips curl in delight.
"When the Supreme Lord went to slumber with our four Demon Kings. we were left at the mercy of humans. Miserable , powerless and caged," his voice was dripping with venom as he snarled. He spat on the ground as if the memory itself disgusted him.
"But not anymore," his voice softened, but it carried a dangerous edge. "Centuries have passed, but the flames of anger still burn inside me."
He raised his hand. his long fingers trembling with anticipation. "Soon, soon the demon world will awaken. We will take back what is ours and no one—no humans, no other pathetic race—will stand in our way."
He laughed again. his voice echoing like thunder. His madness was no longer hidden. It was laid bare for anyone who dared to see it.
"This time it will be you humans behind the walls," he said his grin growing wider his eyes sparkling with cruelty. "But your walls won’t protect you. No, your walls will become your prisons. And I will make your lives more wretched than the demon world itself!"
He tilted his head back and closed his eyes for a moment as if savoring the thought. Then he whispered almost lovingly, "After all, you should have a taste of your own medicine."
His laughter rang out again sharp and menacing as he continued to stare into the distance already planning the destruction that would follow.
"The event at Galdreth is far too important," he murmured. His voice was soft yet it dripped with venom. "I won’t allow any insignificant humans to disrupt it."
He leaned against a gnarled tree. A grin spread across his face as he imagined the despair that would cross their features when they realized the futility of their efforts.
"It would be delightful to break them. To watch their spirits crushed under my feet," he whispered, his words heavy with malice.
But just as his thoughts wandered, he froze. A sudden, dark pull reverberated through him like a thunderclap. Someone was summoning him. His grin faded, replaced by a look of irritation. "Tch, now? Of all times?"
With a wave of his hand, a bust of shadow appeared around him. Soon in no minutes, it swallowed him whole.
he appeared in an instant. The air grew cold and heavy as he materialized in a vast, dark area. There was no light, but his lingue as a demon fully allowed him to outline the silhouette of a figure standing before him.
The figure was so imposing that even he, an archduke of the demon world, dropped to his knees without hesitation.
"My exalted lord," he said. His voice was filled with reverence. "Your presence humbles me."
The figure moved towards him with extremely slow steps, intimidating him with every noise it made. Though the darkness revealed no details about him, Teneb could feel the oppressive power radiating from him. And he perfectly knew who the man was.
It was Vyrion, the right-hand man of their supreme Lord, the only ruler of their world. The man in front of us was only second to the four demon kings of the demon world.
"Someone has entered Galdreth," Vyrion’s voice rumbled. The sound seemed to echo endlessly. "Must I remind you again of what I told you before? We cannot allow humans to interfere. Not now. Not in such a crucial time."
Teneb kept his head bowed. His claws pressed into the cold ground. "My lord, do not worry," he said. His tone was careful but confident. "I was only toying with them. Letting them think they had a chance. I can end them in seconds if you command it."
Vyrion’s silhouette loomed closer. His presence grew suffocating. "Toying with them?" he hissed with disgust. "This is no game, Teneb. Take care of them now—or if you fail, you know the consequences. Not even I will be able to protect you."
Teneb’s heart skipped a beat at the warning. He didn’t dare show his fear. He nodded quickly. His voice was firm. "I understand, my lord. I will ensure they do not take another step toward Galdreth."
Vyrion did not respond immediately. The oppressive silence stretched on. Each second felt like an eternity. Finally, his voice echoed again. It was softer but more threatening. "See that you do. Failure is not an option."
With that, the figure disappeared. Teneb was left alone in the void. He exhaled shakily. The weight of his lord’s presence still pressed down on him.
"Humans," Teneb growled as he rose to his feet. his jolly mood was already ruined after being reprimanded by his lord. And it only fueled his anger more for humans.
"You’ve sealed your fate. I will make sure you never set foot in Galdreth."
He vanished once more. His laughter echoed in the empty void as he returned to the forest to finish what he had started. The humans wouldn’t know what hit them.
