Lyra screeched at Cassian. She felt odd and uncomfortable when he asked her this question. If it were in the past, he would have recognized her in an instant, even if she changed her appearance countless times.

"What?" Lyra widened her eyes, her cat eyes becoming even rounder with shock. Did he just call her an old, grumpy cat?

How could he? Did he not know? Girls hated it when someone commented on their age, especially when they were actually old.

And what did he have to remind her that she was actually an old snake who had lived far more centuries than he could count on his fingers?

Lyra dropped her little head and sulked. Hump! She would not talk to him. She was still a little beauty in her prime age. She still needed to find herself a partner. How could she get old without him?

Cassian looked at the drooping head of the kitten and found himself scratching his head. He was confused now—what did he do? He shook the little kitten, but it seemed she was hell-bent on not responding to him.

"Ms. Little Grumpy? I have to go to work," he said, placing her on the bed. He would have loved to play with her more, but he could not afford to be late.

Cassian immediately got ready and was just about to get out of the room when he found the little kitten following him like a lost kitten.

He crouched down on the floor and said, "No, you can’t walk like this. If someone finds you, it would be dangerous for you."

"You can stay here or go back to your home," Cassian said in a gentle voice, but the kitten shook her head in a repeating manner. She refused to be left behind.

Seeing the kitten’s reaction, Cassian found himself in trouble. He also did not want to leave the kitten alone here. What if something happened to her while he wasn’t around?
