Chapter 39: Chapter 39: forget him like a nightmare
Cassian felt a soft and moist sensation on his lips. And when he realized what had actually happened, his eyes couldn’t help but widen like a saucer. The disbelief was visible in his eyes.
"W.. What in the world?" Cassian thought to himself, but the next moment he found himself releasing a very strange voice, and he doubted that it was his voice. The voice felt more like a moan.
Xalor had slightly bitten him on the side of his lips when he found no response from the Cassian.
After hearing Cassian’s moan, the gentle and peaceful kiss became more fervor, and Xalor was not able to control the urge inside him.
While Cassian found his mind going blank, he was unable to think clearly. He just found himself responding with equal fervor, not wanting to be left behind.
His mind left every precaution and fear at the back of his mind.
"Why was a stranger kissing him?" The thought didn’t even come to his mind. He just found himself losing in this heartfelt moment.
Cassian also closed his eyes and enjoyed the moment, even when his brain was against it.
"Maybe dying would be beautiful if you experienced a mind-blowing kiss from your murderer."
This was the last thought in Cassian’s mind before he gradually lost consciousness and fell into Xalor’s arms, like a sleeping beauty.
As Cassian’s body grew limp in Xalor’s arms, a gentle stillness enveloped the space around them. The world outside them faded, leaving only the soft sounds of their breaths and the faint chirping of crickets with the night breeze. Xalor looked down at Cassian’s peaceful face; it was a beautiful sight, a blend of vulnerability and beauty that stirred something deep within him.
He cradled Cassian carefully, his fingers brushing against the soft skin of his cheek. For a moment, Xalor felt a surge of protectiveness, as if he had found something precious he didn’t want to lose.
The kiss had ignited a fire within him—an urgency and tenderness that he hadn’t anticipated and never thought he was capable of after that day. He had come here with intentions that felt distant now, overshadowed by the kiss they had just shared.
"Why did it have to be like this?" he murmured, though he knew Cassian couldn’t hear him. The weight of his actions pressed heavily on his chest. He hadn’t meant for things to escalate like this.
All he wanted was to instill some fear in him and probably find some answer, which kept bugging him until now. But now, all he felt was the intoxicating aftermath of that kiss and the ache of something deeper—a yearning that both frightened and exhilarated him.
Xalor gently tilted Cassian’s head back, searching for signs of consciousness, but his eyes remained closed, lashes resting softly against his skin. A slight blush colored Cassian’s cheeks, and Xalor found himself captivated by the sight.
He brushed a thumb along Cassian’s lips, recalling the way they had felt against his own—soft, warm, and utterly inviting.
"What have I done?" Xalor whispered, his voice barely above a breath. He shifted slightly, adjusting their positions to make Cassian more comfortable. At that moment, he was acutely aware of the vulnerability that surrounded them. The quiet night was both soothing and ominous, and a sense of urgency began to settle in.
Xalor feared that he was losing his control over himself. How. How could he do something like this? This is not right... He was only capable of hating, not love. And he can’t... kiss that same person... Who was the reason for his suffering?
As he held him close, memories flooded back—moments of laughter, glimpses of vulnerability, the spark of life that had drawn him in from the very beginning.
Xalor had been lost in a haze of confusion and desperation, but now clarity began to form. He realized that this moment, he was truly weak; he succumbed to his desires. What about those words and betrayal... He is just truly pathetic.
"Why?" he whispered, his voice thick with anguish. He clenched his fists, feeling the sharp edges of his self-loathing cut deeper with each passing moment. How could he betray himself like this?
His expression morphed into something dangerous, a storm brewing in his eyes. A cruel smile appeared on his lips, one that held no warmth, only bitterness. "Pathetic," he muttered to himself, the word tasting like ash. "You’ve become everything you swore to hate."
As he watched Cassian, he recalled the mind-blowing kiss and the soft sensation, but now all this twisted like a dagger in his chest. Why did he feel this way? Why did the warmth of affection taunt him?
Suddenly, his eyes start flickering, shifting from inky black to a swirling mix of brown. "No, not now!" he murmured in a low voice, the reluctance was visible in his eyes. But he knew he could not avoid it. His time is over.
He scooped Cassian into his arms gently, he didn’t have left much time. He looked at Cassian’s sleeping face and hoped he would forget about everything like a nightmare. That a person like him never existed.
Today’s Cassian is too innocent for his cruel personality, he would wait for the day Cassian remembered his memories before confronting him again.
With a swift motion, he vanished from the hallway, leaving nothing but silence. He reappeared in a small, dimly lit room with two beds and a small window from which the soft ray of night was peeking.
Xalor looked at the other boy lying on one of the beds. His back facing them. Cassian gives him a look before shifting his eyes towards another bed.
Xalor laid Cassian down gently and tucked him under the covers. "Sleep, Cassian," he whispered, his voice barely more than a breath. For a fleeting moment, he allowed himself to linger, and watching the steady rise and fall of Cassian’s chest.
His emotions were unreadable. Nothing can be seen on his face. Like, just in minutes, the man before them has completely changed into another person.
Then he turned away, and disappeared from the small room, leaving nothing behind him. Not even a trace.
Just as he vanished, James stirred in the other bed, his eyes fluttering open. Confusion clouded his mind as he scanned the room. "Who’s there?" he murmured, the remnants of sleep still clinging to him. A shiver ran down his spine, a primal fear settling deep. But he finds no one. But the feeling was too real and James shuddered visibly.
Then his gaze fell on Cassian, peaceful and unaware. James heart slowed, and he let out a sigh, believing it had just been a nightmare. With that thought, he turned away, drifting back into the depths of sleep, leaving the room steeped in silence once more.
Then his gaze fell on Cassian, who was sleeping soundly, undisturbed by anything. James’s beating heart slowly calmed down and he released a sigh of relief.
"Probably a nightmare", With this thought, James turned back again and drifted into his peaceful sleep. Leaving the room silent once again.
