Chapter 27: Chapter 27: I, Queen Selena, am not a weakling.
Queen Selena’s face became red from all the humiliation. She struggled to maintain her composure but failed terribly; Vincent’s remark had clearly hit a nerve, and she felt tongue-tied. She tried to mask her irritation, but it was still visible on her face.
Vincent smirked at the Queen’s colorless face and how her face was twisting in rage, and the fact that she couldn’t show him her anger made it even more amusing for him.
Queen Selena opened her mouth to say something, but her mouth simply stopped responding when she locked her eyes with Vincent’s unyielding gaze. She felt lost, unable to respond, and felt like a cornered animal who would be dead in seconds if they dared to scream.
She realized that she was in no position to continue the conversation. The Queen gave a tight-lipped smile to Vincent and nodded curtly. "Yes, well, honesty is indeed a virtue. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must see other guests."
In the end, Queen Selena could do nothing but offer a weak nod, her attempts to please him crumbling to dust. And Vincent also had no interest in appeasing her or playing her games. He had seen through her facade from the start, and it was best that she knew it too.
he watched her retreat farther away from him, Vincent felt a sense of satisfaction. Even if she despised him, she would now know better than to cross him.
Vincent looked around to find that person, whom he had came here for, but he was not in sight.
Strange, how could he not be present here when he should have been? I think his status would make him attend these types of functions. Vincent murmured to himself as he looked everywhere to find that person.
~~~~~
Bang!
What does he think of himself?
Barbarian!! He is nothing but a lowly barbarian.
How dare he look down on me? Me, the Queen of Aetherlyn Kingdom, the highest noble lady of the entire nation! Selena screamed at the top of her lungs as she looked at the shattered mirror in front of her. Her eyes had a crazy look in them.
She felt deeply humiliated today. How much time had passed since someone actually dared to say something like this? The last one who did was already under seven feet of the ground.
She lifted the entire table and crashed it sideways, and then shattered all the cosmetics on the table to the ground. Everything that landed on the ground made loud noises, but it was still not enough to quench her anger.
The nanny looked at the mess Queen Selena had created out of her anger. Her expression was unreadable, but her brows furrowed slightly as she looked at the crazy look of Queen Selena.
"Selena! Control yourself! Is this how a Queen should behave?" The nanny said in a slightly angry voice. She was very unhappy to look at the disgraceful act of Queen Selena.
Selena threw whatever came to her hand toward the nanny. She was not in her right mind to distinguish anyone. She had become blind in her anger; she felt deeply humiliated.
The nanny quickly dodged the flying vase, and it shattered behind her with another bang. And that’s it. She had lost all her composure. Her eyes burned with fiery anger as she walked toward the crazy queen, who was so busy throwing objects everywhere and landed a resolute slap on her face.
Slap!
Slap!
Queen Selena felt her ears buzzing from the impact as she looked at the figure in front of her. Her mind seemed to be clouded from all the anger, but now it became dazed as she could not believe she had actually been slapped, not once but twice.
"Yo...you, how...could you do this? I am your queen!" Selena stuttered as she tried to speak. "You can’t lay hands on your queen..."
SLAP!!
Another resolute slap landed on Queen Selena’s face, making her face turn sideways, and her hair scattered on her face, making her appear almost pitiable.
"Stop this bullshit, Selena!! And don’t forget who I am to you. You may be the Queen of the entire nation, but to me, you are still that useless girl whom I raised until now. And I have every right to teach you," the nanny said while gripping Selena’s chin, her fierce eyes locking with Selena’s fearful one.
"If you can lose your calm just because some barbarian insulted you, then you are nothing but a weakling, and there is no place for such weaklings here," the nanny said as she jerked Selena’s chin away forcefuly.
Selena could feel the intense pain in her chin, and she feared that it was almost broken by the nanny. But she did not show pain on her face and murmured, "Now I am not a weakling. I, Queen Selena, am not a weakling. Everyone fears the very presence of me.
Even the most dangerous person in the kingdom, Prince Dorian, is under my control. How could I fear anything? They should be the ones who fear me." Selena said with tears pooling in her eyes, and with each word, her tone became higher and higher, like she was proving it to someone or more to herself.
Her expression became twisted with each word, and finally, she started laughing like a madwoman, her back pressing on the cold floor, which was filled with countless shattered pieces of glass, but she felt no pain, her eyes looking at the ceiling with a crazy look as she lay on the ground with her hair sprawled like a web of spiders.
The nanny looked at the sprawling figure of Selena with a proud look on her face, like she was looking at her greatest masterpiece, a masterpiece she had created with her blood and tears.
There was intense hatred on her face, but her eyes became unfocused as she looked at the sprawling figure of Selena, like she was not looking at the present but was lost in the past.
Alorian, I have promised you that day, and look how hard I am working for it. Believe me, the day will come sooner than later. The day your lineage ends at my hands," the nanny murmured in a low whisper, which was audible only to her.
