Chapter 96. Probably the Last Lie
Chapter 96: 96. Probably the Last Lie
The time without Bae Juhyun passed swiftly.
In the blink of an eye, it was already late at night on the last day of 2020.
Of course, busy with rehearsals and practice, Bae Juhyun couldn’t afford to make a mistake. She hadn’t seen Liu Xin’an for nearly a week, and she didn’t want to mess up on this last day.
However, the growing longing in her heart seemed to seep into her bones, making her, already anxious about tomorrow’s concert, even more restless.
"Juhyun, aren’t you going to wash up?"
The time was getting late, Liu Xin’an had even gone to bed, expressing his anticipation for tomorrow’s date on his phone before sleeping, which made Bae Juhyun feel even more pressured.
"Seungwan, do you think it’s too late to regret this now?"
Bae Juhyun blurted out unexpectedly, only to be met with a speechless look from Son Seungwan.
"Who was it that confidently said they weren’t nervous when we were chatting two days ago?"
Revealing secrets was Son Seungwan’s favorite pastime.
After saying this, Bae Juhyun’s fair and smooth face quickly turned red.
"I... I was just saying, there’s no way I would regret it!"
"Then that’s settled. Go wash up quickly, or Yerin will beat you to it."
They had to get up early tomorrow, so tonight’s sleep was crucial.
Mmm... of course, if needed, they could catch up on sleep during makeup and styling tomorrow, but dozing in a chair couldn’t possibly compare to a real good night’s sleep in bed.
Understanding the importance of sleep, Bae Juhyun temporarily suppressed her anxiety and followed Son Seungwan out of the room quietly, slipping into the bathroom to wash up second.
After washing up and forcing herself to sleep quickly, Bae Juhyun was eventually shaken awake by Kang Seulgi.
"It’s time to go, Juhyun."
Bae Juhyun opened her eyes in confusion, instinctively looking out the window. The early light of dawn answered her.
Stage makeup was a hassle, and since the concert was scheduled to start at 1 PM, they had to leave for the stadium at first light.
Makeup and styling would be done backstage at the stadium, and since all performing artists were from the same company, S-M had invited a large team of stylists.
"Haaa~"
After a lazy yawn, Bae Juhyun mechanically got out of bed, following Kang Seulgi out of the bedroom like a soulless figure.
———
Liu Xin’an, however, didn’t have to suffer like Bae Juhyun, waking up so early.
At 8 AM, Liu Xin’an climbed out of bed and, as usual, checked his phone, feeling a bit puzzled.
When chatting with Bae Juhyun yesterday, she said she’d tell him the date details today, but she still hadn’t contacted him.
But considering his girlfriend’s busyness lately, she was probably just sleeping in.
Without overthinking, Liu Xin’an went into the bathroom to wash up and then began considering what to wear today.
Bae Juhyun had commented on his outfits many times, and now, on their first date, he didn’t want to be criticized again.
Thankfully, given his standard height and build, finding an outfit was simple; he just needed to check online and copy a look.
Online shopping was very convenient, so Liu Xin’an had received his clothes two days ago.
For a surprise, he hadn’t sent Bae Juhyun any photos.
After breakfast and changing into his new outfit, Liu Xin’an sat on the couch, lost in thought.
It was already 10 AM, and she still hadn’t woken up?
As Liu Xin’an debated whether to call her, his phone finally rang.
The caller wasn’t anyone else but Bae Juhyun, who had agreed to meet him today.
"Hello."
"Ah, I almost overslept... have you gotten up?"
Bae Juhyun’s voice on the other end sounded groggy, like she had just woken up.
The mental image made Liu Xin’an chuckle softly, "No worries, don’t rush. Where should I meet you?"
"Um... since you helped Seulgi get Girls’ Generation signatures last time, Seulgi gave me two concert tickets... can we watch the concert first and then have dinner tonight?"
"A concert? Girls’ Generation’s?"
"Yes, sort of."
Liu Xin’an was puzzled for a moment and asked instinctively, "I don’t mind, but don’t you not have any favorite artists? Why do you want to go to a concert?"
Bae Juhyun had thought about this already. Without hesitation, she explained softly, "It’s free, and from what I’ve heard, the tickets were hard to get. Plus, it’s Seulgi’s way of showing appreciation. She’d be upset if we didn’t go. Just think of it as accompanying me."
"Alright, then where should I go?"
Bae Juhyun quickly gave Liu Xin’an the concert location and hung up after setting a meeting time.
...
Actually, Bae Juhyun’s worries were a bit excessive.
Liu Xin’an still wasn’t very familiar with the local entertainment scene.
So even though he was going to a concert with Bae Juhyun, he wasn’t bored enough to look up the concert lineup on his phone.
Even if he did, he wouldn’t recognize anyone. Why bother?
Besides... wasn’t Kim Taeyeon supposed to be there? Knowing one person was enough.
Since he didn’t have a car, Liu Xin’an took the subway to the stadium following the directions.
Considering it was a winter concert, the venue chosen was a mid-sized indoor stadium instead of an open-air coliseum.
The artists wouldn’t mind the cold, but the audience would. If the spectators were to get cold, that would be troublesome.
After a subway ride and a quick lunch, Liu Xin’an arrived at the stadium a little past noon, as agreed with Bae Juhyun.
By then, the area around the stadium was already filled with concertgoers, making spotting Bae Juhyun among them a challenge. Liu Xin’an put in his earphones and called his girlfriend.
The call was answered almost immediately.
"Juhyun, I’m here at the stadium. Have you arrived?"
"Uh... I might be a bit late. Go inside first!"
Since entry usually began 40 minutes before the concert, the staff at the stadium had started checking tickets and managing the crowd just as Liu Xin’an called.
"But I don’t have a ticket."
Liu Xin’an laughed helplessly; how could he go in without a ticket?
"Oh! I forgot about that. I’ll give you a number to call. Contact that person, and she’ll bring the tickets to you."
"Huh?"
"Or you can wait for me. I’m not sure I can make it by one o’clock. If not, I’ll definitely meet you within half an hour!"
Bae Juhyun’s pitiful tone on the other end was almost tangible to Liu Xin’an.
Given how his girlfriend sounded, Liu Xin’an certainly couldn’t blame her.
Besides, it was only noon; there was plenty of time ahead.
"No problem. I’ll wait until you get here and then we can go in together."
"Oh no, if you wait outside, I’ll feel bad! Go in first. If I can’t make it by one, I’ll absolutely be there within thirty minutes!"
"But don’t I need a ticket?"
"The person I’ll have you contact is a major fan club leader. I’ll get my ticket from her. You go in with your ticket first."
"Alright, I’ll get the ticket and wait in a nearby café."
"Mmm, don’t wait too long, okay? If you miss an exciting performance because of me, I’ll feel terrible."
No one could resist Bae Juhyun’s coaxing.
Feeling amused, Liu Xin’an teased, "Why do I feel like you’re trying to persuade me to go in fast?"
"What? I’m just worried you’ll miss a great show. If you don’t appreciate it, so be it!"
"No, no. I will go in. I’ll record the performances you miss."
"Hmph!"
