Chapter 1222 - Chapter 1222 Chapter 376 Shadow Abyss Market_3
Chapter 1222: Chapter 376: Shadow Abyss Market_3 Chapter 1222: Chapter 376: Shadow Abyss Market_3 Fortunately, Leonard Churchill was well-versed in the workings of the Gang.
After contacting a local faction and spending a sum of money, he easily obtained the exact coordinates of the Black Market.
As luck would have it, there was a meeting today.
At 8 o’clock in the evening, Leonard Churchill arrived in North City on time.
Guided by the Gang, he took a small boat and glided through the dimly lit Underground Dark River for a quarter of an hour before arriving at a temporary gathering place built along the underground river.
Both banks of the river were lined with shabby stilt houses made of wood.
Dim lights emitted from the houses, obscured by coarse cloth curtains, making it impossible to see clearly what was inside.
Materials were piled up at the entrance: large and small, with no signboard visible.
Crude steel rails were also fixed on the rock walls to transport some goods.
The embedded gas lamps flickered on and off, casting erratic shadows on the water, shrouding the entire Black Market in an uneasy atmosphere.
The small boat ferried Leonard Churchill to the shore; after paying the fare, he stepped onto the wet stone slabs and proceeded without hurry.
The Black Market was eerily quiet, and although it didn’t seem populous, Leonard Churchill sensed there were not a few people around.
Inside the several dozen stilt house shops were groups of three or five people, and on the rock wall roads, there were quite a few mysterious individuals like Leonard Churchill, their faces obscured by gas masks and cloaks.
Here, there were no constraints of law or morality, only sin and darkness.
Everyone acted with extreme caution.
Yet, in his heart, Leonard Churchill felt not the slightest bit uncomfortable; walking in darkness felt more reassuring to him than being out in the open.
He continued forward.
As he passed the stilt houses, he just glanced at them.
Although the Black Market shops had no signboards and the goods were mostly not displayed, a peek through the gaps in the doors allowed Leonard Churchill to guess what was being sold inside.
A pungent odor of herbs mixed with chemical reagents wafted through the air, and glass bottles were filled with liquids of various colors… This was a Potion Shop, and the owner was a one-eyed old man.
If he remembered correctly, his name should be “Blind Christ”.
At the entrance with a hanging beast bone, the main business was the sale of various corpse materials…
The cloth curtain with the Black Soul Flower insignia specialized in selling curse materials…
There were also shops selling poisons, Cards, and Mechanical equipment–a complete variety.
Leonard Churchill had gathered data from the Gang and Information merchants, and it almost all matched up.
The owners of these shops had far-reaching connections; they could get anything.
Arriving at the entrance of a shop selling body materials, Leonard Churchill even saw two Dragon Descendants locked in cages, still alive.
He then reached the door of a Machinery Shop and noticed two burly clients testing out a Steam Hammer.
Leonard Churchill just glanced and was surprised, “A TE22 Steam Siege Hammer? They have this here?”
This was no ordinary Mechanical equipment, but a part of the Hunting God Armor!
You should know, this was a top secret in Orlan.
They even sell it in this Black Market?
Even though the build quality looked rough, like a knockoff from a black workshop and not fully functional… the item was definitely that very piece.
Not to mention some military-grade banned equipment–he saw plenty along the way.
Seeing all this, Leonard Churchill grew even more expectant of the Black Market.
The Shadow Abyss Market was scattered with dozens of shops, but Leonard Churchill wasn’t much interested in most of them.
He had come to the Black Market to find materials for his advancement.
He had already inquired at the Gang’s place, and there was a shop in the Black Market called “Old Morgue’s Potion Shop.”
It had “genuine good stuff.”
Although Leonard Churchill knew those Gang guys were up to no good, he still wanted to see what exactly would leave him completely satisfied.
After walking along the rock wall pathway for a bit, he then saw the shop with a light bulb made from a glass bottle containing a glowing green larva at the entrance.
Leonard Churchill waited for a moment; after two customers left, he walked in.
Such was the rule of the Black Market: no loitering, each shop would only attend to one set of customers at a time.
As for outsiders who didn’t know the rules… well, the shops were very welcoming too.
Because at the very moment, you break the rules; countless eyes are watching you from the dark.
Upon entering, the less than ten-square-meter room was lined on three sides with counters stuffed full of goods.
The shopkeeper behind the counters was an old woman with a full face of tattoos and a mouthful of black teeth when she opened her mouth.
She looked at Leonard Churchill as he came in and asked, “What would the customer like to buy?”
The hooded Leonard Churchill spoke with feigned depth, “Do you have any Mysterious Type or Close-combat series Cards using advanced relics? The higher the quality tier, the better.”
He also wanted to see what kind of good stuff such a shop could really have.
“Oh? It seems we have a distinguished guest,” said Black Tooth Granny with a sneer creeping through the gaps in her teeth, “you’ve come to the right place.”
Without any fuss, she raised her hand and wiped it across, pulling out three cards.
Depicted on the cards were a skeleton, a blood-red fish bone sword, and a green burning flask.
Black Tooth Granny introduced, “Second-tier Relics [Curse Skull], just need a bit of the target creature’s marker, and it can cast boils curse from afar, almost certainly fatal to anyone below a Third-order Card Master; there’s also this third-tier Relic [Wicked Weapon: Longfang], anyone stabbed by it will be cursed with witchcraft and bleeding… and there’s also this second-tier [Black-Bellied King Snake’s Acid Bottle], which can corrode almost any substance you can think of…”
Indeed, the shopkeeper had brought out three items right off the bat that grabbed Leonard Churchill’s attention.
However, if Leonard Churchill remembered correctly, wasn’t this [Wicked Weapon: Longfang] something that belonged to a certain fugitive?
After just a glance, Leonard Churchill, with an unimpressed expression, said lightly, “Got anything better? Preferably a Disaster Object.”
The items were somewhat interesting, but to him, they weren’t that attractive.
At his attitude, Black Tooth Granny also showed a slight displeasure and said, “Heh… you sure don’t mince words, my dear.”
Leonard Churchill listened without saying a word.
But after all, she was running a business. Narrowing her eyes with a hint of cold light, she sinisterly said, “Old Granny might have some… but what do you got to buy them with, huh?”
Could it be true?
Leonard Churchill was just trying to probe the bottom line and did not expect there really to be such items.
In this Underground Black Market, money was no longer the only currency; knowledge, information, even soul contracts could become the chips of trade.
But Leonard Churchill wasn’t short of money; he took out a bag containing valuable rare Crystal Cores without betraying any emotion and said in a deep voice, “As long as you have something that satisfies me. We can negotiate the price…”
Black Tooth Granny watched Leonard Churchill’s demeanor, the murky light in her clouded eyes flickering.
Leonard Churchill was observing her, and she was also constantly assessing Leonard Churchill.
The old woman couldn’t see through what he was, but she knew a real big spender had come.
Upon hearing his words, she was straightforward; she brought out a clay pottery jar and introduced, “[X-227-Soul Hosting Clay Figurine], a genuine Disaster Object.”
Seeing this item, Leonard Churchill kept his composure, but couldn’t help being taken aback: Did she really bring it out?
