Carrying a Jurassic on me -
Chapter 25 - 25 25 Pterosaur Da Zhan_1
25: Chapter 25 Pterosaur Da Zhan_1 25: Chapter 25 Pterosaur Da Zhan_1 After delivering food to Xu Xiaoyan, Yan Fei planned to buy a high-end item—a thermos.
This was the thing he had seen parents from the county town using to deliver food to their children at the school gate earlier.
He wanted to see if there were any larger thermos to buy and take back, so that he could stew meat at night and put it in, and then eat it whenever he felt like it during the day.
Of course, the next time he brought meat to Xu Xiaoyan, he wouldn’t have to worry about others asking why a pot of meat never gets cold.
Drizzling into the shopping mall next to the bus station, Yan Fei found the area selling thermos and kept looking.
The attendant probably didn’t think he looked like he was going to buy anything, so they ignored him.
Yan Fei waited.
He waited until someone came to buy a thermos.
He watched an older lady bargaining.
When the salesperson finally refused to lower the price, Yan Fei stepped forward, showed the lady the money in his hand, and said to her, “Auntie, I am also buying a thermos, I want to buy the same one as you.
After you finish bargaining, shall we buy together?”
The bargaining that had already tired the older lady suddenly rejuvenated her.
She insisted on buying two at once, and bargained with the salesperson till the mall was about to close.
Finally, she got it at a price that was less than half of the original call price.
Yan Fei, carrying the thermos and feeling like he’d snagged a bargain, completely forgot that he hadn’t had dinner yet!
He didn’t mind the hateful look the salesperson was giving him from behind.
Even though he didn’t know how to bargain, he had a knack for helping others in a situation like this, commonly known as flaming the fire.
Every time the old lady got tired from bargaining, Yan Fei would go up and cheer her on.
Hearing the common flattering words spoken by a young man was unusually pleasing to the ears, so the bargaining power of the old lady surged several times.
After buying the thermos, as Yan Fei exited the shopping mall, he noticed that the beef restaurant across the street was brightly lit, and the tables at the entrance were all filled with people.
At first, he was surprised, but then he laughed at his own silliness.
He was used to selling wild rabbits early in the morning and had forgotten that restaurants typically don’t open until noon or evening.
He was even planning on finding a place to wait until tomorrow morning to sell his wild rabbits!
So, Yan Fei walked along the street to the river, and after quite a while, when he found a chance where no one was around, he went in, changed into new clothes, and came out carrying the rabbit cage.
Once he entered the shop, he realized that the beef restaurant was really doing good business.
There were people sitting inside and outside, and several waiters were busy serving dishes and pouring wine, which was quite different from the usual quiet scene he saw every morning.
Sister Hong was sitting behind a small account desk near the back door of the restaurant lobby.
As soon as she saw him, she stood up and said, “Yan Fei is here.
Come and help bring the things to the backyard.
Your Fifth Brother is really busy and has gone out for a drink.
He probably can’t even find his way home now!”
After properly placing the wild rabbits and chickens and collecting the money, Sister Hong insisted on giving him a bottle of colorful drink.
Seeing that someone had come to pay their bill, Yan Fei hurriedly took it, thanked her, and walked out.
As he walked down the street, he let out a sigh of relief.
The air in the shop was simply unbearable, full of the smell of smoke and alcohol, which he found extremely uncomfortable.
It was time to go home!
Tomorrow is Sunday, his parents would definitely be coming back for inspection.
He found a spot, entered the island intending to put the cage into the cave and then hurry home.
After placing the cage in the cave, he noticed something was off outside.
As he came out, he was taken aback.
It had only been a short time since he sold the rabbits, and now, the situation on the island had changed drastically.
The sky above was filled with Pterosaurs, their chaotic and horrifying calls echoed in the air above the island, like the end of the world was happening.
He couldn’t see clearly from inside the cave, so he went to the center of the island and climbed a towering tree.
When he looked up at the sky, Yan Fei was stunned with shock.
The day on the island was slightly longer than in reality.
When Yan Fei came to the island, it was already completely dark outside, and there was only a faint light from the setting sun on the island.
In the gray sky, countless Pterosaurs were tumbling and flapping in the air, like the underworld, or thousands of demons emerging from the demon realm, wildly dancing in the sky above the island.
After watching for a while, Yan Fei could finally distinguish that several particularly large Pterosaurs were engaged in a fierce battle with the Pterosaurs here on the island.
From time to time, injured Pterosaurs would let out shrieking cries and angry squawks.
He could vaguely see flesh and blood flying about, and it was extremely cruel.
Even more shocking was the sudden appearance of several massive figures patrolling above the surface of the sea.
These figures were howling at the sky from time to time.
Some of these figures had necks like pythons; others looked like a boat with four oars on both sides, only this “boat” was magnified several times; still, others had robust front bodies with long tails trailing behind them, which they used to leap out of the water despite their massive bodies…
Every now and then, an injured Pterosaur would fall with a ghostly scream, often it was still in the air when a huge mouth would bite into it, abruptly ending its cries and sending chills down one’s spine.
Inside the forest beneath his feet, everything had fallen into a dead silence.
The normally frenzied compsognathuses didn’t even dare to make a whisper of noise.
Presumably, they were shivering in their nests.
There was no gunfire in the sky, only horrific collisions of body against body.
Those larger pterosaurs were incredibly vicious.
Even without their claws, each time they brushed past the pterosaurs on the island, whether by flapping their wings or attacking with their sharp beaks, they would cause their opponents to let out cries of agony.
In just a short moment, several heavily wounded pterosaurs, barely able to land, had landed on the cliff on the island.
Many more, too gravely wounded, had fallen directly into the massive jaws that filled the water below.
The battle had come out of nowhere, and the ending was just as bewildering.
Yan Fei even felt himself taken aback, only hearing a few screeching cries and then those particularly huge pterosaurs spread their wings, breaking free from the island’s pterosaur group, and flew towards the higher sky.
The pterosaur group on the island seemed to have no intention of letting it go.
With a series of rasp caws, they took to the sky.
In the blink of an eye, those pterosaurs that initially blotted out the sky became a swarm of small spots in the gray sky, faintly visible as the two sides of the battle were still entangled.
Yan Fei was brought back to the present and just as he thought the battle was over, screeching cries were heard once again, then a few larger spots made a U-turn, dove through the numerous small points below, and charged down with several small dots.
When their figures once again obscured the sky, those island pterosaurs lagging behind them, which were brought down during their dive, let out dying screams, their forms uncontrollable.
Crashing disastrously into the sea, they were immediately swallowed by the many gaping mouths, leaving behind only a massive splash.
Those invading pterosaurs pulled up when they were about to crash into the ground, traced a beautiful arc in the air, and flew upwards.
The pterosaurs on the island were further aggrieved and more infuriated.
They let out anguished cries as they pursued.
At the moment when they were about to catch up to the invaders, one of the invading pterosaurs in the forefront spun around mid-air, astonishingly charging towards the pterosaur group once again.
Just a single pterosaur was able to decimate the battered pterosaur group.
This invading pterosaur was huge and swift, stirring the entire pterosaur group into a frenzy with its acrobatics in the sky.
In the blink of an eye, another five or six unfortunate island pterosaurs crashed screaming into the sea.
The pterosaur group, already scattered, quickly began to retreat.
This pterosaur seemed to be on a killing spree, not heeding the calls of its companions as they retreated, and relentlessly pursued and attacked the island’s trailing pterosaurs.
Seeing this, the wounded pterosaurs resting at the top of the cliff could no longer maintain their recovery; they let out desperate cries and took to the skies.
Thus, the battle resumed.
The sky had grown completely dark, and with not many stars out, the details of the battle could no longer be seen.
Only the occasional shrieking howls and the roar along with the splash from the sea surface that transmitted up, testified to the brutality unfolding in the sky.
“Smack…”
Yan Fei, just as he was settling from the shock, felt something strike him.
Taken aback, he smelled a warm and bloody scent and understood what it was.
Roaring continued from the sky; the battle was no longer visible.
Unlucky enough to be splattered with dragon blood, Yan Fei, filled with frustration, moved to the edge of the Spring Pool.
More precisely, he moved to the small creek flowing out from Spring Pool.
This was where he usually washed his clothes and bathed to avoid contaminating the water in Spring Pool, after all, that was his drinking water source.
The forest was even darker than on the tree.
Yan Fei rinsed his clothes casually in the water and tossed them aside, then he lay down in the creek, letting the moving water cleanse him.
He had already been exhausted from running for the whole day and the alarm caused by the sudden battle had left him particularly drained.
As he lay back in the creek, he felt an overwhelming sense of comfort spread through his body.
Suddenly, a piercing cry echoed through the air.
Yan Fei shot up in surprise; his eyes only caught a glimpse of that looming shadow before it erased his presence completely.
Right where he had disappeared from, an enormous shadow swept through, breaking branches and scattering leaves.
It crashed with a thud, snapping countless small and large branches, and buried itself on the edge of the other side of the forest.
