Chapter 141: Bluff or Not

Jules’ pov

Landon didn’t look offended by my question. If anything, he looked unfazed as he lazily shrugged.

"I guess you’d just have to take my words for it." He finally responded and I scoffed before rising to my feet.

This is clearly a waste of time that’s not gonna amount to anything tangible.

"I’m out." I called out as I headed for the door.

"Wait." He called out and I slowed to a stop. When I turned around, he was on his feet and he looked a little irritated.

"Wait, we aren’t done with our conversation yet." He continued and I threw my hands in the air.

"But it looks like we are. It looks like you just summoned me here without having anything vital like you insinuated." I accused and he massaged the bridge of his nose with his fingers before flopping back onto the couch.

"I do have some vital information here." He explained and I scoffed.

"You said I was gonna have to take your words for it." I reminded him and he shrugged again.

"That’s because I wasn’t gonna tell you for free." He explained and I scoffed again.

"Well, I’m still unsure if you really have anything vital." I reminded him again and he leaned forward in the next moment.

"Alright. Let me give you a hint. Have a seat." He suggested while waving me over to the spot I just vacated. I eyed him wearily as I returned back to the seat.

He cleared his throat before speaking.

"Let’s see... your life is in danger. A lot of people wants you dead." He started and I blinked slowly. It still wowed me how he was aware of this, I was still blown away by that, but I fight let it show.

I got to my feet and shrugged this time. "That’s not solid enough. A lot of people can figure that out." I informed him and he glared at him in annoyance.

"What now?" He demanded and I threw my hands up again.

"What you’ve just said isn’t solid enough. It doesn’t prove that you have tangible information with you." I explained just as he got to his feet and folded his arms.

"Why have you been acting like you’re the one in charge here? I’m the one in charge here!" He cried out and I let out another scoff because even though I couldn’t believe he was bringing that up now, it was still very typical of him, especially after our first encounter whereby he had been backed up by a bunch of other omegas who seemed like his followers.

I shook my head as I spoke. "I’m Leaving. The only reason why I really wanted us to meet up in the first place was because I thought you knew something." I explained and he pushed his hair out of his face.

"Why? You think I don’t? I really do know something. And besides, the price isn’t something outrageous or anything." He explained while I kept on eying him skeptically.

I’m currently in a very desperate position. I really wanted to know whatever it is that he knows. I also want to know how he got a hold of said information. If he knows anything super personal about me, like my true identity for one, that’s gonna be a big ass problem for me and it’s gonna automatically complicate everything.

"What’s the price? And how am I gonna pay? Is it money?" I asked after a few moments without bothering to sit back down because I wanted to get this over with as fast as possible.

Landon glared at me like I just insulted him. "Are you insane? Why the hell would I want money? I literally have more than enough."

I rolled my eyes as I responded. "My bad."

He shortened the distance between us before continuing. "What my price is, is something you have, which you do not deserve."

I blinked at him in confusion. "Huh?"

He scoffed as he walked closer to me. "My price in exchange for vital information is... Blaze."

It took a few seconds for what he just said to register in my head and I blinked slowly to be certain I heard correctly,

"What?" I blurted out and he grinned this time.

"You heard me."

"You want Blaze?" I echoed, still yet to fully comprehend what he had just requested.

He hummed as he stroked his hair.

"Him and no one else."

I spluttered next, finding it hard to settle on what to say next.

"You want me to give you Blaze? Do I look like I own him? Like he’s- he’s some sort of lifeless toy that I can just give to you?"

Landon shrugged lazily as he bluntly responded. "Yes."

"You’re actually insane." I breathed out as I shook my head.

"Aren’t we all?" He drawled and I scoffed.

"You’re the only insane one here, Landon. Last I remember, weren’t you hanging off Xander’s arms the other day? I thought you and him were together or something. Why do you suddenly want Blaze?" I demanded just as Landon scoffed.

"Me? Together with Xander? Hell no! Xander and I aren’t together, we just have fun here and there. The person I actually want is Blaze." He explained and I felt a bitter feeling settle in my throat and chest.

I threw my hands in the air as I responded. "Well, I can’t help you with that. He’s not a toy so I can’t hand him over to you."

"Oh, but you can." He drawled as he diminished the gap between us.

"You can help with that." He repeated and when I asked him what he meant, he whispered directly into my ear.

"You can make yourself disappear from here. If that happens, you’d also be keeping your life safe from the people who want you dead. It’s literally a win-win situation for the both of us." He explained, a grin plastered across his face as he pulled away.
