Chapter 117: The Truth pt.2
Jules’ pov
"Mass murder?" Blaze repeated and I held my breath as I tentatively nodded.
I was nervous as hell. If he ends up believing that I had a hand in the murder, it’s gonna completely shatter me.
Blaze rolled his eyes this time before speaking. "Were the people who made that up being serious? You cannot even hurt a fly."
"You believe me?" I whispered, almost on the verge of tears.
He stared at me for a moment longer before cupping the side of my face with his palm.
"Of course I do. Why? You think I wasn’t gonna?" He asked and I felt relieved tears sprang to my eyes as I shook my head.
Blaze thumbed the tears away before they could roll down my cheeks.
"No crying, bunny. I hate it when you cry, remember?"
I tried to sniff back the rest of my tears, blinking a couple of times.
"I’m sorry." I breathed out. He ended up stroking his thumb over my cheek a few more times before speaking.
"Of course, I have a lot of questions, but they’re not questions you need to be panicked over." He began and I felt myself grow tense at once.
"What kind of murder were you framed for?" He asked and I had to remind myself that I have nothing to be worried about as I began to respond.
"A mass murder. Of every warlock of our clan, and our neighboring ones. It’s like the end of a bloodline... of a generation and of a breed." As I spoke, I gauged his reaction once again, mind pounding against my ribs.
"Was that what killed your parents?" He asked after a few moments and I slowly nodded, while my throat got clogged with a lump of emotion.
"Along with the rest of my siblings." I ended up admitting quietly, blinking back the urge to cry because whenever I think of the rest of my siblings, I end up getting the urge to cry. It still hurts to get reminded of the fact that they’re no longer alive, which means I’d never get to see them again.
"It must have been traumatic, losing your entire family in one night." He finally breathed out and he worded it perfectly. It was beyond traumatizing because I witnessed most of them getting killed.
His hand squeezed my fingers as if silently giving me strength where I was lacking and I genuinely appreciated it.
"How did it happen?" He asked after a while and I had to exhale slowly before starting to speak.
"It- it happened all of a sudden." I began, heaving slowly.
"It took place in a large party. One moment, everything was normal. I was playing the piano for the guests." I continued.
"I remembered you as you don’t like things like that. Was it different then?" He asked and I shook my head, a huff slipping past my lips.
"I didn’t back then, not since I was born. I was forced to do it by my father." I explained and the side of Blaze’s eye twitched as he scoffed.
"Typical."
"So, that was happening, when all of a sudden, people began to drop dead. I didn’t understand what was happening at first until I noticed people breaking into the hall through the windows and shooting arrows into the people."
Blaze nodded slowly as he spoke. "I thought arrows couldn’t kill people with magic? I read about it somewhere."
I nodded slowly because he was clearly right.
"Normal arrows couldn’t, yes. But the ones coated with certain portions can, and that’s exactly what was used to wipe out the entire hall that night."
My heart felt heavy as I spoke. Since the night that massacre happened, I refused to vividly think about it until right now that I was narrating it. In order to narrate it, everything had to return back to the front of my mind and it made me feel faint and nauseous.
I didn’t realize my hands were shaking until Blaze was wrapping his hands around mine, holding them between our bodies and massaging them with his thumbs until the tremors slowly ebbed away.
His eyes held so much emotions as he spoke. "You alright?"
I nodded vigorously because I really am alright, I’m just reacting this way because the grief was clinging to every inch of my heart in waves.
After a few minutes, Blaze broke the silence once again.
"What happened after that?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat and tightened my hold on his fingers before resuming.
"M- my mother was the one who technically saved me first." I started, feeling a fresh wave of emotions wash over me in gentle waves.
Blaze remained silent, giving me all the time I needed.
"She told me the people who attacked that night were after my magic, which made no sense to me because I could barely pull off half of the magic skills the rest of my siblings possessed back then."
"But my mother insisted that the bad guys were there because of me. So, since the rest of my siblings were already dead, their magic was still floating outside of their bodies. She then took everything, combined it along with hers, and then she placed everything inside my core of magic."
I took in a sharp breath before continuing.
"Then she sealed up the entire magic in me, including mine. She said she did it to protect me, and she urged me to remain alive since I was the only one left of our bloodline. I didn’t get to ask any questions before the bad guys came in and killed her in my presence."
My voice cracked around the edges at the end of my sentence and I noticed as Blaze’s eyes significantly softened.
"Oh, bunny." He whispered softly and I had to blink a couple of times in order not to burst into tears.
"After they killed my mother, they realized that my magic was sealed away and got mad, because they knew that was my mother’s doing."
"How did you escape?"
"I didn’t. I almost got taken by one of the men who my father had informed me to pick a husband from. That was the same man who betrayed my father by being amongst the people behind the entire massacre that night."
"Wow." Blaze breathed out and I let out a small huff.
"But then Andrian and his men came in, killed the entire bad guys present, along with the creepy man who informed me he was taking me to his boss."
"Andrian?" Blaze echoed and I nodded.
"My guardian. He helped me out of the country and helped me come up with a new identity, then he got me enrolled into this school because I was being accused of a murder I didn’t partake in, and Andrian was convinced the people behind that claim were the mastermind behind the massacre ... then I saw you the first day I enrolled here, and that’s it."
I exhales slowly once I was done speaking, heart racing and stomach in knots as I waited for Blaze to speak.
I had completely laid everything at his feet without holding anything back.
Whatever his next decision is, is completely up to him.
He ends up reaching up and cupping my face with his two hands, thumbs tilting my head up until I was blinking at him.
"You poor thing... you must have been so scared, going through all that and getting enrolled in this horrendous school in the same period." His voice was so soft and quiet as he spoke and my eyes widened as my heart hammered against my ribs.
I sucked in a sharp breath, blinking a couple of times as he continued.
"I’m gonna protect you from now on, and no one is gonna be able to cause you pain any longer. Okay?"
A stinging sensation gathered in my eyes and I blinked a couple of times as I sniffed, lips wobbling when I attempted to speak.
"You d- don’t care that I’m not a werewolf? I- I’m not an omega, I can’t even call myself a warlock with my magic currently sealed away." My entire heart was breaking as I asked that question, but then Blaze let out a tsk while rolling his eyes.
"Bunny... I knew you weren’t a werewolf from the onset."
