Chapter 285: Lisa’s Grandfather

Amon walks into Lisa’s room and finds her standing, waiting for him.

"Thank you for coming, Mr. Amon," Lisa says while looking a little nervous.

Even though she has already promised herself to Amon and isn’t planning on going back, she is still a little nervous now that Amon is here to fulfill the part of his deal.

"Let’s get right into studying," Amon says with a smile.

Lisa nods.

Amon begins going through all of Lisa’s strengths and weaknesses and focuses on her weaknesses, which are languages and chemistry.

Lisa is a bright girl, but getting a perfect score in all subjects will be an extremely hard task; luckily, she has Amon as her teacher.

He immediately begins teaching her in the best way possible, making Lisa pick up on things much faster and better than she ever has.

Two hours later, Amon is done.

"That’s it for the day. The next class will be on Monday, my house. Here’s the address," Amon says, and gets up.

Lisa nods. "Do you have anything extra for me?" She asks. "Nothing. Just go through what I thought you once. Don’t overwork yourself," Amon says and walks out of Lisa’s room when he sees the maid, who greeted him at the front door, waiting for him.

"Master Amon, the patriarch wants to speak with you," the maid says with her head down. Amon was expecting to talk to this old man sooner or later, but he didn’t expect the old man would be so eager to meet his granddaughter’s teacher so soon.

"Lead the way," Amon says. The maid nods and guides Amon to the patriarch’s office.

Since the mansion is massive, it takes them some time, but they are here. The maid stops before the grand door embedded with gold and silver and steps aside.

"The patriarch is waiting for you inside," she says, still keeping her head down.

Amon nods, pushes the door open, and walks in. His eyes immediately fall on the tall, lanky old man with a long white beard and fierce, slanted eyes who is staring back at Amon.

Amon smiles and approaches the old man. He doesn’t wait for the old man to say anything before grabbing a chair, pulling it back, and sitting down before locking his eyes with the old man again.

The old man has a frown on his face as he can’t figure out the man sitting before him.

When he first learned that Lisa hired a teacher from the university to personally teach her, the old man got suspicious.

He knows his granddaughter better than anyone. He knows how smart she is, so for her to hire a person teacher means whoever she is trying to hire is an exceptionally intelligent man. But that isn’t enough for him.

He loves his granddaughter very much, so he is not going to let some random man be close to her for hours. He tried to look into Amon’s background.

But the only thing his people could find was Amon’s current information about him being a teacher and a multi-PhD holder. They couldn’t find anything about his past, where he lived, what he did, nothing.

This surprised the old man, which forced him to make some calls to people who could look into Amon, but he was outright denied.

Most of them couldn’t help him, and the ones who could, told him to mind his own business and not look much deeper into this.

The old man is very powerful, a wealthy billionaire who has connections all over the world. Whether they are politicians, crime bosses, or famous personalities, very few people in the world dare to go against him.

These people would go to extreme lengths to please him, but when he tried looking into Amon and just get some information on him, he was outright denied by these very same people. Even when he passively-aggressively threatened them, they didn’t budge.

The old man realized that this teacher Lisa just hired is not someone people want to mess with, even at the very highest level.

"Who are you?" Is the only question he could ask Amon as he sits before him.

Even though Amon has a smile on his face and looks friendly and approachable, the old man feels a little tense and on edge. He remembers the last time he felt like this.

It was when he was just a lackey working for his crime boss.

"Well, you were looking into me, weren’t you? And I think you already know enough. No need to worry your old bones over it," Amon says with a smile.

"What do you want with my Lisa?" The old man asks.

He doesn’t believe that Amon is just interested in teaching his granddaughter, because why would a man as powerful as Amon, someone who even the mayor of this city was scared to reveal anything about, spend his time teaching a bunch of students in a school?

He must have an ulterior motive.

"Why would I want anything from Lisa? It’s the other way around. It is she who begged me to tutor her," Amon says.

"Don’t bullshit me! Why would someone like you waste your time teaching a school full of brats? What is your end goal?" the old man asks.

"You are one paranoid old man, aren’t you? Years of working in crime have made you wary of everyone. Like I said, I want nothing from your granddaughter. She is the one who is desperate to cut off ties with you and your family and make a life for herself," Amon says. His smile never leaves his face.

The old man’s frown deepens as he hears Amon’s words. He didn’t expect Lisa to actually reveal her family situation to a stranger. This made the old man worried.

Lisa seems to trust this man before him way more than he anticipated. For her to reveal their private dealings to a stranger meant that this stranger had influence over Lisa, and that is a dangerous thought.

Sure, the old man loves his granddaughter very much, but his priority for the empire he has created is even greater. He wants his family to rule this city for a thousand years, and for that, he needs to turn this family into an unshakable entity, and to do that, he needs to form powerful relationships.

Lisa is part of this plan. By marrying her into another underworld family, the old man plans to strengthen his control over this country. That is why he went through a rigorous process of choosing the best suitor for his beloved granddaughter.

Not only does he want his granddaughter to be happy for the rest of her life, he also wants to increase his power and influence. It’s killing two birds with one stone.

But his grand daughter, Lisa, is being a pain the ass. She doesn’t want to be treated like an object for him to get more power. No matter how many times the old man tried to talk to Lisa and make her understand, she stayed stubborn. Which led to the deal between them. If Lisa manages to get a perfect score, which is impossible, she will have her freedom, but if not, then she will have to listen to him.

But now there is a new variable in this bet between them, and it’s the man sitting before him. For some reason, this man, Lisa’s teacher, seems to hold influence over Lisa, which is a huge red flag.

A man who doesn’t belong to their family or his chosen in-laws’ family now holds influence over Lisa, which could cause rifts to grow between the two underworld families, and the old man cannot afford a war.

He is not afraid to go to war with any underworld family, but doing so would significantly reduce his family’s strength.

"I don’t want you anywhere near Lisa anymore. State your demands, and I will fulfill them," The old man says.

He will not allow some random dude to have influence over his previous granddaughter.

Even though Amon’s background is mysterious raises some concern for the old man, his plan for strengthening his reign won’t change. He will go to any lengths to make his vision come true.

Hearing his demand, Amon’s smile gets wider as he leans in a little closer.

"I don’t think there is anything in this universe that you can give to me, old man," Amon says. His words, slow and clear.

"Everyone has a price," the old man says, making Amon nod his head.

"Indeed, every man has a price, but anything you offer me is just chump change. You can sell everything you have to give it to me, and it still won’t be enough. But the most important part. I really don’t care about your money," Amon says and leans back.

The old man frowns, hearing Amon’s words. He begins to wonder what Amon’s real identity is, for him to look down on all his wealth. Mind you, the old man is a multi-billionaire.

"If money is something that doesn’t entice you, then I will owe you a favor. Ask me anything and it will be done," The old man says. He has never owed anyone anything, so for him to promise this to Amon is indeed a huge deal from his side.

Amon chuckles and shakes his head.

"Like I said before, there is nothing in this world you can do for me, old man. Your wealth, your status, your connections, your men, nothing is of concern to me. I don’t give a fuck about them.

Let’s get this clear. I am just a teacher, nothing more, nothing less." Amon says and gets up.
