Chapter 157: What Do You Want To Know?

Stephanie walks in with a bottle of expensive wine in her hand. Martin specially ordered this wine from abroad, but since he is out somewhere and doesn’t want to spend time with his wife, she can at least use this to entertain the guest.

But she suddenly stops in her tracks when she sees Amon and Megan staring into each other’s eyes while Amon holds Megan by her chin and kisses her passionately. Slipping his tongue in and savoring her.

Seeing this makes Stephanie jealous and reminds her about her first love, her first boyfriend who loved her very much, but he couldn’t live up to her expectations. She didn’t want to live a life of mediocrity. So one day she broke up with him and moved to this city.

She used her looks to get into some modeling business, dated a few rich men who promised her success, and then finally married Martin to settle down with all this money.

But as she looks back at her life, she wonders if she made the right decision. She has all the money and luxury she wished for, but she cannot find happiness in them.

She wonders what her life would have been like if she had stayed with her first boyfriend. Would she be content and happy living in mediocrity? She doesn’t think so.

Stephanie has always been someone who wanted to thrive and be successful. If she hadn’t broken up with her boyfriend and left her little town, she wouldn’t have been able to live her dream of being a model.

But now that she has retired and has something to look back on, she doesn’t know what would have made her less happy, a mediocre lifestyle or this loveless marriage.

As she looks at Megan, she can’t help but be jealous of her. Megan has both of what she wants, a rich lifestyle and someone she is deeply in love with.

Stephanie cannot ignore the fact that Megan is cheating on her husband with Amon. She knows that Megan too is in a loveless marriage, but Megan decided to kick it to the curb and follow her feelings. To fall in love again with someone else.

But for Stephanie, she doesn’t have that luxury. She knows her husband and how dangerous he is. She can’t risk having an affair and risk both her and her lover’s life.

"Ahem!" she coughs trying to get the lover’s attention, which she succeeds in. Amon and Megan stop kissing and look at Stephanie.

Amon smiles at Stephanie as she approaches them. "Sorry, I can’t keep my hands away from her," he says.

Stephanie gives Megan a look and shakes her head. "I don’t mind," she says putting down the wine bottle on the table.

"Nice choice," Amon says looking at the wine. "Martin imported it from somewhere I don’t remember, since he doesn’t drink it, it feels like a waste," Stephanie says.

Amon can tell that Stephanie wouldn’t have brought this wine if not for her wanting to punish her husband for leaving her all alone.

"Well, we are honored," Amon says.

Stephanie pours the wine for them, and they begin drinking.

As they drink the wine, Stephanie can’t help but take glances at Amon and Megan as they continue flirting with each other.

"You can ask," Amon suddenly speaks, catching Stephanie off guard.

"What?" she questions.

"I can see that you are very curious about us, so I said you can ask. It’s not like we are hiding anything," Amon says.

"Oh... Well, I have been curious... how did all this start?" Stephanie says, clearly questioning them about their relationship.

Amon smiles and looks at Megan. "You tell," he says. Megan nods and begins talking.

"Well, I was very unhappy with my marriage. I married Stewart because I was with his child and when he found out and proposed to me, I agreed to marry him.

In the beginning, all seemed fine. He was working; I was taking care of our daughter, but there was nothing else to our marriage but our duties to the family.

When my daughter was old enough, I started working and the little interaction I had with my husband was gone.

The marriage was just a contract. I forgot what love feels like and the sex was terrible.

But then Amon came into my life and everything changed. He made me fall in love again. I have never felt this happy ever. I never thought my life, which had lost all light, would rekindle with joy again,"

Hearing Megan’s words made Stephanie feel her cheating was justified. As she could see herself in Megan. Someone who is just going with the flow of life with nothing to live for. But unlike her, Megan found someone to love and relive again.

Stephanie wonders if she will ever get the chance to fall in love again. She looks at Amon and sees him looking at her.

His intense gaze, his handsome face, his perfect body, everything makes him so appealing to her eyes. She wonders what her life would be like if it was she who became Amon’s lover, and not Megan. Stephanie questions if she would be just as deeply in love with him as Megan.

"Well there you have it," Amon says.

"But what about your husband, Stewart? Are you not afraid that he will find out?" Stephanie asks.

Hearing Stewart’s name causes a frown on Megan’s face. "I don’t love him anymore, so it doesn’t matter if he finds out about it or not. I am planning to divorce him anyway so that I can completely dedicate myself to Amon," Megan says staring at Amon with unquestionable love and devotion.

Stephanie can see how genuine Megan’s love for Amon is. She wonders what made Megan fall so deeply in love with Amon. What does he have that makes him so special?

"I need to use the washroom," Megan says getting up. "It’s down the hallway to the right," Stephanie says pointing Megan in the right direction. Megan walks away leaving Amon and Stephanie alone.

Stephanie finds herself feeling a little uncomfortable in Amon’s presence, as she doesn’t know what to say to him. Luckily for her, Amon knows how to make her feel uneasy,

"You look uncomfortable," Amon directly calls her out, forcing her to defend herself and open up a little, allowing him to spread his influence.

"What do you mean?" Stephanie immediately goes into defense.

"Well, it’s clear that you are uncomfortable talking to me, but you don’t have to. I won’t bite," Amon says.

"... I just don’t know what to talk about," Stephanie says.

"You can ask me anything. I bet you have a lot of questions," Amon says.

Stephanie looks at Amon with a lot of questions on her mind. Especially about her husband.

She has noticed that her husband has become a lot more eccentric after meeting with Amon, and she wonders what happened between them to change Martin so much.

"I want to know about my husband Martin," Stephanie says.

Amon smiled as he was waiting for her to ask.

"What do you want to know about him?" Amon asks.

"What is happening to Martin? He has been on edge for a while now. He has been distant and now he suddenly left without saying anything," Stephanie questions.

Amon doesn’t answer her directly and keeps his silence to increase the tension in the air.

"Are you sure you want to learn what’s happening with Martin?" Amon asks while making his tone serious. He wants Stephanie to feel how serious this is.

Stephanie gulps as she comes to realize that the answer to her question might be more than she can handle, but she can’t keep living in the shadow. She needs to know what is happening.

"Yes, I want to know," Stephanie says and steels herself for the revelation.

"I think you have some idea of what kind of person your husband is, right?" Amon asks.

Stephanie stares at Amon but doesn’t say anything. She doesn’t want to cause any unnecessary trouble to her husband by admitting to something, because this trouble will trickle down to her as well.

Amon smirks and sees Stephanie’s reaction. He can’t help but be impressed by this woman.

"I can tell you know a few things about your husband from your reaction, but don’t worry, I will make sure that you don’t get in any trouble," Amon says.

Stephanie still maintains her silence. Amon continues speaking.

"I hate to break it to you like this, but Stephanie, your husband is much worse than you can imagine and currently his life is being turned upside down," Amon says.

"What did he do?" Stephanie finally speaks up and asks in a worried tone.

Amon sighs, putting on a master class for acting and showing concern. He gets close and sits right next to her, putting his hand on hers in an act of comfort.

"I am sorry, but your husband’s actions are unspeakable. I don’t think you should hear about them," Amon says in a concerned tone.

"Is it that bad?" Stephanie asks, worried. If it really is that bad, then her life might be completely ruined. The world that she built around herself, which is already shaky, starts to show signs of crumbling.

"That is why he fled the country. He pissed off someone who he shouldn’t have even in his dreams. This person has a lot of dirt on Martin. If it comes out, Martin will lose everything," Amon says and pauses, staring deep into Stephanie’s eyes, showing deep concern for her.

"I don’t want this to come to fruition, but you being his wife... This will affect you as well," Amon says squeezing her hand.
