Chapter 96: +Chapter 96+
Caspian didn’t even bother taking a shower, climbing right into bed, he craved the solitude of sleep.
Asher on the other hand had to take one, his busy day aside, he was certain he had gotten some of the blood on Jael on him.
Caspian waited patiently for Asher to return, fiddling with his fingers as he watched the bathroom door.
He immediately rolled right into Asher’s arms the moment he got under the sheets, pressing his cheek right up to the bare skin of Asher’s chest.
He expected to smell the scent of body wash and warm water from the shower but instead, all he got was a mouthful of Asher’s scent.
The smoky scent was heavy on his tongue, it was nothing like the acrid smell of cigarettes or the smoke from a fire.
It was like a drug, the accompanying scent of spices warming him up from within.
Asher didn’t seem to notice it, and it had him wondering if it was just too much to him.
Breathing was a little difficult but at the same time, the heavy cloud of the Alpha’s scent was pulling him under.
Caspian woke up the next morning with a gasp, and it was because he was lying in a puddle of Asher’s scent.
He was disoriented for a few seconds, Asher’s side of the bed empty.
He sat up, frowning slowly. It was still early but somehow he had managed to miss Asher.
And he was certain that the Alpha hadn’t woken him up before leaving.
A lot had happened the day before but it was the first time ever since he asked that Asher would forget to say goodbye.
Caspian pushed himself to get up from the bed, Asher’s scent was muddling his thoughts, and it made it hard to think logically.
Asher probably just had a lot on his mind, and that was why he forgot to say bye before leaving for work.
Caspian winced at how much he sounded like a spoiled wife. With how potent Asher’s scent still was, he probably hadn’t been gone very long.
On any other day, he would have gone right back to bed until the sun came up but he needed to check up on Jael.
He had a feeling that if he didn’t intervene, the Beta would actually try to resume work. Caspian couldn’t have that.
So he reluctantly left the warm bed and Asher’s scent behind, trudging to the bathroom. His hair was tousled, the pale locks pressed flat on one side.

On the other side of the bathroom door, Asher was bent over the bathroom counter, his skin damp, his teeth gritted.
One of his arms supported his weight on the counter, the other was wrapped around his painfully hard dick.
He avoided his reflection in the mirror, he couldn’t stand to see the unrecognizable desperation in his eyes.
Asher had woken up in a haze; the only things he could register were Caspian’s sweet soft body in his embrace and the familiar burning under his skin.
He had wrenched himself from Caspian and stumbled to the bathroom, lava pooling in his veins.
He wasn’t sure how long he had been in here, trying to get off to cool his blood, and failing.
Although he must have been at it for hours, his sexual frustration was only a soft thudding in the chaos in his head.
On the forefront was bone-chilling terror. This wasn’t supposed to happen... he had fixed it... he had...
Keeping Caspian close to him was the cure, he just had to be careful, and cautious, and he wouldn’t be like his father.
He was scared shitless because he didn’t think he could be careful in his current condition.
The feral look in his mirrored gaze was familiar and foreign at the same time, his pupils little pinpoints.
The focus in them was unsettling, even to Asher because there was one thing he wanted, and he would soon shatter whatever little self-control he had left to get to it.
His inclination to bouts of insanity only seemed to get worse with Caspian around, it made him claw at the marble counter, bruising his fingers.
The door swung open at that point, and Asher made a little sound of despair in his throat as he turned around to the sound of Caspian calling his name in surprise.
"Here you are!" He beamed, his happiness too much to be contained in his bright smile. "I was thinking you had already gone off to work..."
Caspian was already halfway to Asher before he realized that something was wrong, freezing on a dime.
Asher’s hazel-gold eyes were like little orbs of sunlight, his gaze predatory.
It was quite the odd scenario, the Alpha was completely naked, dick hard.
He was drenched in his own sweat, his biceps flexing with the effort it took to keep him at the counter.
"Asher? Are you alright?" Caspian asked slowly.
His first guess would have been that the Alpha had caught another cold but...
Caspian’s eyes drifted lower, the Alpha’s lower half was hard to ignore. He doubted there was a strain of cold that could cause that.
"I’ll be if you go right to Jael, right now." He spoke slow and measured, each word coming out like he was in pain.
The scar on Caspian’s shoulder twinged, the circumstances around the unique scar coming back to mind.
The unfocused look he had then was back in Asher’s eyes, but just like he had told Jael...
Asher would never hurt him, and he was stronger than they gave him credit for, a little rough handling wouldn’t kill him.
So although his heart was beating so fast it hurt, Caspian took another step forward.
He snorted with confidence he didn’t feel, "I’m not leaving you when you look like that," He announced with finality, crossing the distance between them.
Even if Caspian didn’t want to do this, the very last person he wanted to drag into this was Jael. The Beta had already been through so much.
