Captive Mate BL
Chapter 83: + - 83+

Chapter 83: +Chapter 83+

That wasn’t enough to deter Jael, he walked right after him and addressed the middle-aged man.

"Drew was really helpful," He lied in a pleasant tone, "But he might have been too young to remember what auto store the past Alpha frequented before the accident."

Andrew had already gotten under the car again, and nothing was getting him out.

"He’s thirty-five," The middle-aged man deadpanned.

Jael whistled, "He doesn’t look a day over twenty-three."

Silence greeted his quip, the middle-aged man providing him with an answer just to get rid of him.

"The guys over at Motorbay were his go-to," He said flatly, resuming his task.

Jael knew that he wouldn’t be getting anything more out of them, striding off.

Just as he feared, there was going to be nothing easy about this.

Warren did keep to his words and provided Asher with the schedule for the day.

There was to be a welcome brunch and afterward, he would personally take Asher on a tour of Moonstone so that they could further discuss investment plans.

The main opening event would be in the evening so it was a pretty packed day.

Caspian sat on the couch as he watched Asher get ready, Jael had sent one of the men over that morning with breakfast.

So they already had breakfast, and although it was stipulated that Caspian would also join them, he had no plans of leaving the Pack house.

Especially not in the company of Alpha Warren.

So he would stay back while Asher went with the Reeves. They had already discussed this prior but Caspian would play Luna Tammy at her own game.

When they were all gone for the brunch, he would go searching through their apartment as well.

Asher also planned to return earlier so that he could pry through Warren’s office. He would use Caspian as an excuse to leave if he had to.

"Make sure to keep it on you always," Asher cautioned as he pressed a kiss into his hair.

Caspian doubted it would be any help to him in danger, he had never used a gun before, he might end up blowing his own foot off.

But Asher was really insistent, and it seemed to reassure him enough so Caspian smiled, "I will."

The sight of the gun reminded him that Asher was very much a Mafia King. It made him realize that they were probably going through a roundabout path for his sake.

If it were up to Asher, there would have been a lot more violence and less diplomacy.

Jael’s words about his parents’ death not being an accident had sunk its teeth into his skin. But there was nothing about Alpha Warren that screamed murderer.

He was far from a decent person, certainly, his mate and son as well. So this might all end in a stalemate.

Caspian had no thoughts, he couldn’t say which would be worse. If it had just been a cruel twist of fate or murder.

Once again, he sat in the room with the television off, staring at the blank screen.

It took him back to the years he spent with Noah, it made him feel trapped.

Caspian waited for an hour to make sure that the people he needed to be gone were no longer in the Pack house, gingerly getting to his feet when it was time.

He made sure to lock the door behind him, although there was little to see in the apartment he shared with Asher.

They didn’t bother unpacking their bags, the apartment still devoid of life.

It was strange walking back to the apartment where he had spent the first fifteen years of his life in.

The Alpha’s room was easily the biggest in the Pack house, it was on the second floor of the townhouse.

And as he walked to the wing that held the room, it felt like the air was getting thinner.

He reached out and tried the door, and for a split second, it felt like his parents would be standing on the other side of the door.

But it didn’t open, it was locked. His parents were dead and he was standing in front of someone else’s apartment.

Caspian expected it to be locked but he hadn’t lived in the apartment all of his life, not to know all the ways to get in without a key.

The room to the right of the apartment was a storage, and there was a vent that led into into the apartment in there.

Caspian had never had a reason to use it before but he always thought about what it would be like to.

He never had to sneak out because his parents let him go wherever he wanted as long as he was safe and he informed them ahead.

But it wasn’t like he went out often.

The storage was open so he easily slipped in, hoping that he would be able to fit in the vent.

He was.

Getting into the apartment was far easier than he thought it would be, Asher’s gun an uncomfortable weight in the waistline of the distressed jeans he wore.

He was the most impressed by how clean the vent had been. All of his tops were in soft colors, so he would have been a human rag if the vent had been dirty.

After getting in, Caspian needed a moment. It was so familiar and yet everything was so wrong.

He shook himself out of his thoughts and got busy rifling through the room.

He had no idea what exactly he was searching for, nor how to find it.

There was a computer but it was password locked, and there were only the usual things in an apartment.

A glance at the vanity table brought back the memory of his mom showing him her secret safe.

It had seemed so cool when he was young, and that didn’t change now. He wondered if Alpha Warren had found out about it...

The vanity table was an antique, it was a family heirloom. The secret compartment was underneath the table, in between the drawers on either side.

The drawers all had knobs as handles, and one of the knobs was the key. He just had to twist it a couple of times...
