When Caspian was done, he walked over to Asher to take off the Alpha’s rings.

It was a silent exchange, he just reached out for the Alpha’s hand, and Asher held it out for him, a spark of warm light in his eyes as he stared down at him.

Caspian was able to keep the rings in a safe place this time, making a note to always remind Asher to take them off whenever the Alpha took a shower.

Or he could just take baths with Asher, that way he could always make sure that the rings were off.

Caspian got into the tub after Asher, leaning against the Alpha’s chest, the soothing warm water rippling softly.

"Did they hurt?" He asked randomly.

"Did what hurt?"

"Your piercings." He answered, looking over his shoulder.

Asher sat up, the bath water slippery with soap. "Why? Do you want to get some?"

Caspian had a difficult time stringing together a response when Asher’s hands found his chest, the soapy water making the glide smooth.

"N-No..."

"Are you sure?" Asher’s voice dropped to a whisper beside his ear, his nipples getting pinched between the pads of his fingers.

His response was a helpless moan, succumbing to the onslaught of pleasure.

"I think you would look great with piercings... right here."

Caspian caught Asher’s wrist, feeling like he was running out of oxygen. "A-Asher..."

"But no, they didn’t hurt," Asher added, amusement evident in his voice as his hands trailed down the sides of his body.

Caspian doubted that Asher’s experience would be the same as his, not to mention how unforgivingly sensitive he was.

He didn’t dare consider getting nipple piercings, although Asher had sounded a little too excited about it.

A few minutes in the bathtub and he was already getting drowsy again, and he would have completely slid underwater if it weren’t for Asher holding him up.

When it was just him and Asher like this, it was easy to forget all of his worries.

Although a nap would have been his first choice after getting out of the bathtub, Caspian found that he wasn’t sleepy.

Instead, he spent most of the afternoon playing games with Asher.

The fact that he hadn’t spent this much time with the other in a while might have had something to do with it.

They ate dinner together and watched shows after, crammed into one couch in a tangle of limbs.

"She’s clearly the killer," Caspian announced confidently.

"Now why would they make it so obvious?" Asher countered, arguing for the fun of it.

"She’s the only one with motives-"

"People kill for fun," Asher doubled down.

Caspian slowly turned around to shoot him a blank look, "So who do you think the killer is?"

"The mailman," Asher answered shortly like he had been waiting for the question.

"No way-" Caspian started to refute, only to be interrupted by a knock on the door.

They both stared at the door and then shared a look, it was highly unlikely that it would be a maid.

And it wasn’t...

"I’m coming in!" Jael announced loudly before opening the door.

He opened the door slowly even then, wary of walking in on them being in any state of undress.

"Is something wrong?" Asher rose to his feet, walking closer.

It was odd for his second-in-command to come all the way to his room, if there was something important, he would have gotten a phone call or text.

The fact that he had come in person meant it was really important.

"Warren Reeves is here." Jael announced to the entire room.

Caspian shot to his feet then, his mouth going dry. "W-What?"

Asher returned to Caspian’s side, his gaze dark. "What does he want?"

"An audience with you," Jael revealed, a faint frown in his eyes.

"I’ll see him," Asher accepted, already walking out.

Caspian tried to reach out to stop him but the Alpha had a one-track mind.

Jael caught sight of this and tried to reassure him, "Don’t worry, I won’t let him do anything rash."

That was the least of Caspian’s problems, he couldn’t care less if Asher’s hand slipped and he shot Alpha Warren.

He was troubled by the secrets he had yet to share.

Now he wished he had just gotten it out with earlier in the day when there was a chance to.

He had no idea how Asher would react to hearing that he was already mated...

Well, shit.

Why couldn’t his past just remain in the past? What more did Alpha Warren want from him?

Caspian paced in the room after both men left, feeling a little lightheaded from anxiety.

Jael led the way to the receiving room on the first floor where Warren Reeves had been kept in.

He took his spot right beside the couch Asher sat down on, for two reasons.

One, so that he could properly study the Alpha seated primly on the couch facing them.

And two, to stop Asher from lunging across the table at him if things started to go south.

He still hadn’t told anyone that he suspected the Alpha of killing Caspian’s parents but Asher knew that Warren Reeves had stolen Caspian’s birthright, and that was already enough to piss him off.

"Good evening, Mafia King Asher," Warren smiled placidly, "I apologize for barging into your home without prior information?"

"And who are you?" Asher asked frigidly.

Warren took this in stride, it was understandable that the Mafia King would be pissed considering that he had wrongly accused him.

"The acting leader of Moonstone Pack, Warren Reeves." He said in a straightforward manner, "I wanted to apologize in person for the fiasco I caused earlier today and the trouble with the High Council."

He took the Mafia King’s silence as a go-ahead to keep talking, "It would seem that my informant had been indeed wrong. There won’t be a repeat of today-"

"Your informant?" Jael cocked a brow.
