Chapter 68: +Chapter 68+
Jael sighed and put his gun away as well when the representatives hurried out, relieved that it hadn’t gone as badly as he had thought it would.
Caspian stood stiffly, looking from Asher to Jael. "Do I get a proper explanation?"
Now that the threats were gone, he stood awkwardly in the dress, wishing he could take it off.
"My guess is that Alpha Warren Reeves made a report to the High Council," Jael answered.
Now the only person confused was Asher, "Warren Reeves?" He repeated, the name new to him.
"The Alpha of Moonstone," Caspian supplied, the realization that Asher had helped him out without fully knowing what was going on either, sinking in.
Asher’s expression darkened, "Why do they need the heir then?" He sat down, his displeasure evident.
Jael looked to Caspian as well, he was the only one who could answer that.
When the Omega didn’t look like he was going to be answering the question, he spoke up instead.
"Reeves is the acting leader. He took over after Caspian’s parents died while he was still a teenager..."
It was strange for Caspian to listen to himself be talked about, it felt like he was listening to a stranger’s story.
He had been about to respond but then it hit him that it would mean admitting that he was mated and that he had run off without telling anyone.
Asher’s expression darkened the more he learned about this, "Caspian is no longer a teenager," He pointed out the obvious.
"Yet Reeves is still the Alpha of Moonstone," Jael completed.
There was a stretch of silence, it didn’t have to be said out loud, the implications were clear.
"Do you want to go back to Moonstone?" Asher broke the silence.
"I don’t." Caspian’s response was instantaneous.
He had been quick to demand an explanation but Asher and Jael deserved one from him even more.
Yet they didn’t ask...
"Then you won’t," Asher decided easily, dismissing the matter like it wasn’t worth his time.
Jael just studied Caspian as the Omega wrapped his arms around himself, looking uncomfortable.
He would never mention it until he was absolutely sure but he couldn’t help but be curious if Caspian had ever considered that his parents’ death wasn’t an accident.
Asher was attached to the Omega now, so he might as well put more effort into investigating.
He also didn’t say it but he had a feeling that this wasn’t the end of the matter.
There were a lot of words unsaid, and it went beyond the matter of Caspian’s past.
He noticed the awkward distance Caspian put between himself and Asher, and deduced that it had something to do with the Alpha staying back late the past couple days.
"I think you should call an early day," He spoke up, his voice firm.
Asher looked like he would like to protest but all he had to do was take a look at Caspian who was completely spaced out to accept.
"Sure," He rose to his feet, heading right for Caspian. "Are you alright?"
Caspian wasn’t alright. Alpha Warren had found him, he wanted to yank his wig off, he wanted Asher to want him.
"Yes."
He didn’t even sound like he believed himself but Asher took his response in stride just like he always did.
"Let’s head back to the mansion," The Alpha said instead, offering a hand.
Caspian took it, quietly thanking Asher when he opened the car door for him and helped him in.
It was like the night he had been rescued by Asher all over again.
If he was just better at expressing himself... If he just didn’t get caught up in his own head so often.
Maybe he would stop feeling like everything was falling apart if he looked like himself again.
Maybe his thoughts would feel like they were his own if he didn’t look in the rearview mirror and see a woman.
When the car stopped at a red light, Asher leaned across the center console, tipping Caspian’s face to his and placing a light kiss on his lips.
The Omega had been lost in his thoughts the entire drive so he wanted to distract him a little.
He didn’t at all predict that instead of looking bemused like he often did, Caspian would deepen the kiss.
When he tasted the flowery sweetness of his mouth, he realized just how much he had been starved of it.
The kiss went on until impatient drivers behind them honked loudly, sending them springing apart.
Asher cursed as he refocused on the road. Caspian looked disheveled right beside him, his wig slipping, his lipstick smeared.
It was a good thing they were almost at the mansion because if the ride had gone on any longer, he would likely break several traffic violations.
Caspian was still reeling from the kiss, he didn’t know what came over him but he found it hard to regret it.
With how unsettled he felt, he wouldn’t at all mind passing out on Asher’s dick again.
The engine was barely off when Asher got out of the car, striding around with purpose.
Caspian opened his door just as Asher got there, expecting the Alpha to offer to help him out of the car.
So he was blindsided when he was picked out of the car and thrown over Asher’s shoulder, the wig completely obscuring his vision.
The mini dress he wore nearly gave him a heart attack because it rode up when he was flipped upside down.
There wasn’t enough time to panic about that however because in no time they were in Asher’s room, the Alpha claiming his lips the moment the tips of his heels touched the carpeted floor.
Caspian’s hands immediately found their way into Asher’s hair.
He would never get enough of this, the cold metal on Asher’s tongue, his head fogging up from the Alpha’s scent.
His hands trailed down to Asher’s shoulders, expressing a quiet sound of disapproval at the heavy coat around the Mafia King’s shoulders.
There was too much happening at once, Asher’s tongue tasting his teeth even as they slowly moved across the room, limbs entangled in a sensuous waltz.
