"I didn’t know you could play games," Angelo spoke up when they were well on their way, contemplating whether he should take Katya’s suggestions and have some sugar cookies on the road.

"I’m in my office all of the time, sitting behind my laptop. Do you think I’m working all of the time?" Silvia asked, texting on her phone.

Angelo thought about it, Silvia really was always in her office, she would spend a lot of nights in it.

"Teach me to play when we get home," Angelo murmured, curling up in his seat.

Lightning streaked through the dark clouds gathering, it looked all the more sinister being viewed through blacked-out windows.

Silvia looked up from her phone with a curious smile, "What are your thoughts about dinner?"

Angelo kept his attention on the worsening weather outside, "Caspian wasn’t what I expected."

Silvia hummed, this was the first time she had gotten to have a proper conversation with Caspian, she had to agree. The Omega was a complete sweetheart, it had her wondering how Asher managed to convince Caspian to fall for him.

They made it home before it rained, and to Silvia’s surprise, Angelo insisted on learning to play puzzle games. It ended up with her playing and Angelo watching over her shoulder while he ate the confectioneries he got at the Knights.

Rosie wasn’t as quick, the rain falling heavily with generous swathes of lightning and booming thunder.

She was in a living room on the second floor, watching a movie with Patty and Jael while Asher and Caspian went off to ’play games’.

She didn’t mind the rain, it was still pretty early after all. She would rather spend some more time at the Knight Mafia House than wait for Lake and Davian in the empty house while a thunderstorm was raging.

It was quiet, and she was pretty sure the others were already dozing. Rosie had been waiting for the right moment to bring up Angelo, but now it was long past the ’right moment’.

She had been informed by Patty not to talk about Mafia King Nikolai at the table, and it was easy to tell that that request had been for the sake of the Omega Silvia brought with her.

It made her very curious, she knew well enough about Silvia, they had occasional, friendly dealings where they bought generic information from her, nothing too important - that was always handled by the Mafia House.

But that was the first time she had seen Angelo, she had been surprised by his secondary gender. He looked nothing like an Omega, it was enviable, he could easily pass as a Beta or an Alpha.

But casual curiosity was where it stopped, she couldn’t help but think if Angelo had any connections to Mafia King Nikolai.

Rosie didn’t plan to sleep, but the weather was soothing, and the room was warm. Patty had flung a leg on her sometime ago, but she didn’t even mind, falling fast asleep as well.

Hours later, the rain had slowed to a stop, the television flickering against the pile of sleeping people on the couches.

"What was for dinner?" Lake whispered quietly to Caspian, who was clinging to his arm.

Caspian suppressed his happy laughter, "Nothing out of the ordinary. It might be all the sugar cookies they had after dinner."

Asher had informed Davian about Rosie being here, so they just drove right here from the airport. Lake quietly stepped out of the room, taking Caspian with him.

"How have you been, though?" Lake still spoke quietly, their mates were discussing what they would do about Nikolai and the High Council.

Lake should also be there, but Davian had suggested that he go pick Rosie up. There were very few things Davian kept from him, so he didn’t mind, regardless of the reason Davian had for stopping him from being a part of the conversation.

"Everything has more or less remained the same," Caspian replied honestly, knowing that Lake was asking about the possible face-off with the High Council. "I hope it doesn’t change in the new week."

Lake blew out a breath and gave him a reassuring smile, giving him one last hug. "Me too. Do you think Asher will let you come to the meeting?"

"I know he won’t, it’s not the quarterly meeting," Caspian shook his head, opening the door for Lake.

The pregnant Omega quietly made his way to the couches and lightly patted Rosie’s shoulder. Lake wasn’t too surprised about Caspian’s response, he wasn’t even sure if Davian would be onboard with his presence.

Lake would go with whatever he wanted, he would rather not put the baby in danger, so if Davian felt he should sit it out, he would.

Rosie grudgingly opened her eyes, freezing when she saw Lake. She instinctively reached out to touch his face, an upside-down smile on her face when she realized that he was real.

"Lake!" She reached out to hug him, her voice muffled from how tightly she held him.

"Rosie? I can breathe." Lake protested amidst gasps. "We came to pick you up," He tagged on after she let him go.

Rosie shot to her feet with vigour, completely wide awake. "Where’s Davian?"

"Talking to Asher," Lake started for the door where Caspian stood, his secretary clinging to his hand just like Caspian had done. "He sent me to get you, we can wait for him in the car."

Caspian accompanied them down the stairs, "Call me when you can." He stood on the stairs, slender arms wrapped around himself due to the aftermath of the thunderstorm.

"If I’m not going for the meeting, I’ll come over for lunch." Lake was quick to offer, dark eyes glossy underneath fluorescent lights.

"Deal..." Caspian eagerly agreed, remaining on the stairs while Lake went on to the car with Rosie, shivering slightly from the cold wind that blew after the rain.

"You’ll catch a cold, baby," Asher’s voice came from right behind him, a warm heavy coat covering him up, Asher wrapping his arms tight around him over his overcoat.

Davian walked past Asher and immediately retrieved his mate from Rosie. He could already see the secretary scheming to steal Lake away to the backseat.

He carefully helped Lake into the passenger seat, ignoring the piercing look Rosie shot him. "It’s good to see that you’re okay."

Rosie smiled despite being huffy, things had gone back to normal right away, she couldn’t be happier.
