Captive Mate BL
Chapter 426: + - 426+

Chapter 426: +Chapter 426+

Davian walked back to the bedroom he had left his sleeping mate in, he just had a word with the pilot and was on his way back to Lake.

They had been in the plane for a total of five hours, and Lake had slept for all five of those hours. At first, he had been bright-eyed and energetic, wandering around the plane when they were free to leave their seats.

That only lasted for a few minutes, he stopped at a bedroom to get some rest and promptly rolled in between the sheets.

Davian was content to watch him, the cabin crew constantly updating him on what was going on outside the bedroom.

He was told that the pilot wanted to have a word with him which was the only reason he left his mate’s side, he returned to find Lake still deeply asleep, his hair messy.

Davian sat gently on the bed beside him, trailing gentle fingers down his face. He preferred this outcome of Lake sleeping, because he had been worried that his pregnant mate would be more prone to airsickness.

Doctor Perez hadn’t even needed to do a checkup, the doctor having a relaxing time in his cabin.

Davian planned to wake his mate soon if Lake didn’t rouse by himself, he didn’t mind all of the sleeping, he was just worried that Lake hadn’t eaten properly before sleeping off.

Eventually, he had to rouse his mate to eat lunch. Lake wasn’t pleased about being woken up, his eyelids constantly drooping.

Davian was more than happy to feed him, and despite being on the cusp of sleep, Lake ate generously, chewing with his eyes closed.

He wished he could take a video but his hands were full of his sleepy mate. He fed Lake until the Omega refused to eat more, keeping him partially upright in his arms so he wasn’t lying down right after eating.

Lake was half sitting in between his legs, the Omega’s upper body resting against his chest. Davian only ate after making sure Lake was full, a smile growing on his face when Lake turned to the side so he could tuck his face in his neck.

Nikolai made his way back to his penthouse apartment sometime after four PM, he didn’t bother denying the fact that he had been paying attention to how many hours Angelo would be asleep.

There was really no reason for him to hang around his casino, it could run uninterrupted without his presence. His influence was strong enough that the mere mention of his name was enough to get things done.

Most of the time spent at the casino was him sitting in his office smoking alone. Few people met him in person, avoiding a one-on-one meet-up if they could. They would rather invite him to an event and then mention whatever favor they needed.

Nikolai saw right through them but it spared him from the monotony of his day so he turned a blind eye to it. But now there was a diversion, why sit alone in his office when he could be entertained at home?

Without needing to spy on the assassin via the cameras, he knew he was still knocked out, so he walked right to his room without knocking, coming closer to study him.

Angelo was curled up in a corner, it was like the Beta wasn’t used to having a bed all to himself, his hair smelled clean but was still tangled.

Nikolai frowned, reaching out to run a hand through it. He rather liked the long dark hair, it was an unexpected contrast to the dangerous assassin with the delicate features.

He was reminded of Angelo pleading to not be put into the safe room anymore, promising not to cut his hair, as he ran his hands through the soft but disheveled hair. Nikolai pulled his hand away, retreating. He didn’t stay away for long, returning after taking a quick shower.

He was a sweatshirt instead of his usual formal dress shirts, just like his usual outfits, it covered every inch of his body except his face and hands.

The dark blue sweatshirt matched his cool eyes, eating a meal alone in the silence while Angelo slept. The curled-up assassin was as silent as prey, his breathing barely audible in the silence of the bedroom.

After eating, he set up his laptop and went through emails and documents he couldn’t focus on when he had been at the casino earlier today. Strangely, he wasn’t impatient for Angelo to wake up, content in the empty silence.

As the sun started to set, the Beta on the bed roused. He didn’t move, remaining curled up while sharp pale green eyes peered at Nikolai from underneath a stray lock of hair.

The silence between them was disrupted by a knock, and without lifting his head from his laptop, Nikolai spoke. "That’s your dinner, go get it."

Angelo uncurled his long limbs and got off the bed to do as he was told. After the night spent in the safe room, his demeanor was much different, it felt like the bubbling lava under the surface of his pale skin had cooled.

Angelo wheeled in the mobile tray, dutifully moving the tray to the table Nikolai was seated on. It was where the Alpha had asked him to sit and eat the previous times, so he naturally did it without being asked.

Nikolai lifted his head when Angelo was all done, watching the Beta willingly sit across from him. "Are you going to be so obedient now?"

Angelo nibbled on his bottom lip, looking like he was fighting an internal battle but Nikolai didn’t notice, drawn in by the assassin’s lips.

"I could be disobedient if you want," He forced himself to say, keeping his face devoid of expression.

"I’m not going to put you back in the safe room." Nikolai found himself saying. He felt like he had crossed a line last night, and an apology was in order.

Angelo pursed his lips, "I’d be stupid to believe that."

A frigid light came into Nikolai’s eyes at a glimpse of some of Angelo’s old fire. "What would it take to convince you?"

Angelo had to bite down on his lip to stop himself from blurting something dangerous. He knew he was nothing but a plaything to the Mafia King, this was all amusing to Nikolai.

"Nothing," He shrugged, focusing on his food. "My mind is set."
