Chapter 423: +Chapter 423+

Angelo expected to be taken to his usual room, his expression falling when Nikolai led the way to his ’safe room’ instead.

"Why are we here?" Angelo asked tightly as the wretched room came into view.

Nikolai reached out and casually pinned him in place with a punishing grip on his hair. "I don’t appreciate threats to damage my property," He said blandly, easing his grip and then shoving him headfirst into the room.

Angelo was full of disbelief when the door slammed in his face, the ominous sound of the lock turning filling his ears. Nikolai was upset that he wanted to cut his hair? Not because of his blatant defiance...

His questions trailed off there, that actually tracked. He had attacked the Mafia King twice at the gentleman club and all he had gotten was amused laughter.

Angelo peeked over his shoulder like he expected monsters to jump him, he placed his hands on the door, he really didn’t want to spend the night here. He didn’t say his thoughts out loud, certain that Mafia King Nikolai was long gone, but right then he would have apologized and promised not to cut his hair if the Alpha just let him out.

He slowly dropped to the ground and sat curled up with his arms around his knees, his back to the door. He leaned his head against the door, sighing softly. He was a little tired tonight, getting knocked out by a glass of drugged wine seemed very appealing right then.

On the other side of the door, Nikolai paused, he had been expecting an outburst but not even a single sound came from Angelo. After a few minutes, he turned away and walked off... how disappointing.

"Have you packed your beach shirts?" Lake’s voice came from his bedroom through the connecting door.

Davian was currently in his own room going through the suitcases so he could give answers to Lake’s questions. His harried mate had asked to help him pack but Davian turned him down, so it meant that he constantly had to answer questions like this.

"You saw me pack them," He answered in an indulgent tone. Lake had bought him the brightly patterned shirts and although he preferred neutral colors, they were the first outfits to go in his suitcase.

"I can’t find my gold hairband," Lake said in turn, barely processing his words.

"Also in my suitcase, you said to hold on to them for you." He was quick to respond, ditching the suitcase to join Lake in his gold-themed bedroom.

He caught the restless Omega and pulled him into his arms, "You need to take a break."

Lake tried to wiggle free, looking up at him with a troubled expression, "But our flight is leaving first thing in the morning, we can’t forget anything."

Davian held him close, gently putting their foreheads together. "If we do, I’ll just buy a new one." He spoke softly, "It’s almost midnight, you need to get some rest."

Almost like he had forgotten he was tired until Davian mentioned it, Lake yawned, rubbing his face against the Alpha’s shoulder. "I’m fine, just a little longer."

Davian didn’t let him go, Lake’s bed was covered in suitcases and bags like he hadn’t even thought about sleeping. "I’ll finish up here," He steered Lake slowly to his own room.

They never had a reason to sleep in his room before but now it had the only bed not covered in luggage.

Lake was rubbing his eyes sleepily as he guided him in, the Omega was usually fast asleep at this time, Davian knew it took considerable willpower for him to still be up this late.

Lake climbed clumsily onto the bed and rolled to his back, sprawled out on the black silk sheets which made his pale skin stand out. His loose night shirt - which was just dress shirts Davian never wore - was slightly curved over his rounded stomach.

Davian knew he should quickly finish up the packing so he could join his mate in bed but he couldn’t look away. Lake was so tired that he was already dozing off as soon as his soft brown hair touched the pillows, sprawled out carefree like this, it made Davian want to take a bite out of him.

He forced himself away from the entrancing look of his mate, reminding himself that the sooner he got their luggage organized, the sooner he could join him on the bed.

Ten minutes later, he was slipping into bed. He got in at the very edge, a smile growing on his face when Lake immediately rolled across the expanse of the bed right into his arms. Nothing had changed after all these months, except that he now wore Lake’s mating mark.

Davian pulled his mate close and tuck his head into the curve of his neck, the familiar scent of citrus and honey washing over him, soothing just like the soft weight of his mate.

Davian felt like his eyes were only shut for a few minutes before he felt his mate springing upright in his arms. His gray eyes opened slowly, still groggy from sleep.

"We slept through the alarm!" Lake said to him, his voice panicked.

Davian propped himself on one arm and watch Lake scramble off the bed with a sleepy smile, the Omega’s eagerness for their vacation was adorable. They would be taking a private plane and the flight would leave whenever they arrived but Lake was still panicky despite knowing that.

"Stop napping," Wild brown hair poked into the connecting door to scold him, Lake’s eyes holding the morning sun as he looked at him with disapproval. "You can sleep on the flight there."

Davian had no choice but to get out of bed as well, more than wiling to do whatever it was Lake wanted of him. With how on edge he had been all night and this morning, Davian had a feeling that his Omega would be the one sleeping on their 16 hour flight.
