Angelo had gotten tired of kneeling, it made him uncomfortable as well so he just laid on his side awkwardly. He wore nothing but the black cotton pants that came with the delivery uniform, they were uncomfortably tight because they used to belong to a woman, and they were also short on him, stopping mid-shin.

He had given up on trying to escape, he had been stripped of all his weapons. It wasn’t like there was a lot left considering how many he expended just to lightly injure Mafia King Nikolai.

Although the room was quiet, Angelo stared right at the door, knowing that it would swing open at any time.

The casual mention of his name made Angelo flinch, his already pale skin becoming colorless. "What did you do to Silvia?" He demanded, pale green eyes blazing.

There was no reason to keep up pretenses, if he had found out who he was in such a short time, it meant that the Mafia King had gone to Silvia.

Nikolai didn’t reply for a moment, instead, he closed the distance between them, a disturbing smile on his face. It was fascinating to him how Angelo’s eyes went from the surface of a pond to the depths of hell.

Angelo. His name suited him, it fit his unique appearance.

"Silvia’s fine, I just wanted to ask her a question."

Angelo quietened down at that, his sharp eyes never leaving the Mafia King.

"Why did you accept this job?" Nikolai directly asked him, an amused smile on his face. "Silvia said it would be better if I asked you."

Angelo stayed silent, he knew that Silvia had said that out of respect for him. But of all the people that Angelo didn’t want to tell about his mom’s death, Nikolai was at the very top.

The first three he told her groveled at his feet but that was because they had been at death’s door. He was at such a disadvantage in this situation that it was laughable, and he knew that Mafia King Nikolai’s reaction would drive him to the edge of insanity. Angelo wasn’t willing to freely give out such important information.

"For the thrill," He said mildly, a small smile on his face.

Nikolai paused, he wasn’t sure what he had been expecting, but the answer felt lacking. It was amusing enough to bring a matching expression to his face, he sank his hands into Angelo’s hair and used it to pull the Beta to an upright position.

Angelo glared at him the entire time, pale green eyes spitting fire.

Nikolai laughed now, the sound was low and pleasing, nothing like his creepy smile. He let go of the assassin’s hair in favor of holding his face, "You still have guts for someone in your position."

Angelo’s eyes were still spitting fire, his chest heaving from nerves. "Kill me." He said bluntly, his voice steady.

"Hmm? Now why would I do that?" Nikolai asked, brushing a thumb over his face. Angelo’s skin was softer than he had expected, it felt like satin.

"I know you’re not into men, this would bring you no satisfaction. I would rather you tortured me dead." Angelo spoke calmly, saying a lot because even if he had to push down on Nikolai’s trigger himself, he would rather die than become the Mafia King’s plaything.

Nikolai didn’t pull his hands away, "I have ways to make it satisfying." He said bluntly, looking thoughtful.

Most hitmen would prefer this over a slow painful death but Angelo was completely disinterested.

"I’ll pass," The Beta said cynically, green eyes frosty.

Nikolai closed the distance between them, with his hand on Angelo’s face and the assassin bound, he couldn’t turn away even if he wanted to.

"Even if I a send in a sweet little Omega?" He taunted, low voice dangerous. "Fuck her and I’ll let you go. I’ll even let Silvia off the hook." He tagged on even though he had no plans to drag Silvia into it in the first place.

Angelo had a difficult time hiding his revulsion, "You’re going to have to kill me, Mafia King Nikolai."

Nikolai stared into those pale eyes, dazed for a moment. He pulled away and fumbled for a cigar. Even though he had been the one to offer, if Angelo had agreed to his terms, Nikolai would have had a difficult time going through with it.

The thought of Angelo with an Omega made him pissed off... that wasn’t right.

He blew out a cloud of smoke and wondered if he should just kill off the assassin and be done with it, after all, he had practically been begging for it all this time.

But there was still so much Nikolai didn’t know, plus the assassin’s face wasn’t bad to look at. He didn’t understand his sudden interest in seeing Angelo’s sensual side but he didn’t curb it.

"No one tells me what to do, Angelo." He handed back to the tied-up assassin when he had a rigid hold on his self-control.

Angelo didn’t say anything further but there was a wary light in his eyes now as he tracked every one of Nikolai’s movements.

Nikolai’s slight smile faded away when the white smoke around his face dispersed. He drew in smoke and swiftly closed the distance between them to grab Angelo’s face, spilling the mouthful of rich aromatic smoke past those round lips.

Angelo was too stunned by the sudden action to put up resistance, unconsciously swallowing some of the smoke. He blew out the rest, not caring that Nikolai was still right in front of him.
