Chapter 388: -Chapter 388-
Lake woke up to the sight of Davian, the Alpha was seated at a table in white hotel robes, breakfast in front of him while he went through some reports.
For a few moments, Lake thought he was still dreaming, needing a moment to put together what was going on.
"You’re up," Davian said with quiet happiness, leaning forward.
Lake rubbed his eyes, pushing his hair out of his face. "Sorry, I slept off."
"I liked watching you sleep." The Alpha said in his usual honest and straightforward way.
Lake smiled and sat up, "Call again tonight. How did you sleep last night..."
Talking to Davian while he got ready for the day was fun until the Alpha had to leave, then it was just Lake all alone in his room again.
Lake kept his hair out of his face with a hairband, feeling uncomfortably sore although he had slept pretty early and had also slept through the night. He didn’t feel as rested as he usually did when he slept with Davian, the Alpha’s scent was fainter on his skin this morning as well.
Lake really did want to just go back to bed and stay in there all day, all of the energy he usually had all gone.
A gentle knock on his door stopped him, and he headed for the door instead. Davian was working really hard, he should also try to hold on until the Alpha returned.
So he opened the door to Caspian with a smile on his face, "You’re up early."
Caspian tilted his head upward proudly, "I have a guest so I have to be a proper host. Are you hungry?"

It was easy to keep the depressing thoughts at bay with Caspian’s presence, the Omega always had something to keep them busy, it was almost like Caspian was actively trying to distract him.
Lake really needed it so he didn’t point it out, letting Caspian lead the way to his shared bedroom with Asher. He frowned when they got to the door, stopping.
"Your scent is a little strange," He said to Caspian, worry in his voice. "Do you feel off?"
Caspian shrugged, reminded of Asher’s words the night before. He had thought that the Alpha was just being annoying as usual. "I don’t feel different. I just went for a checkup a few days ago, I should be fine."
Caspian didn’t think anything of it because he really didn’t feel odd, plus he didn’t want to add to his friend’s worries. He would just go back to the hospital after Lake’s stay was over if his scent didn’t go back to normal.
He led the way into the bedroom and then beelined for the closet.
"Wow," Lake had to say when he stepped in, it was like walking into an actual boutique. "Why do you both have so many clothes?"
"A good chunk of it is clothes Asher bought when he thought I was a woman, do you want to see them?"
Lake was already walking closer, his attention on the massive shelf of heels. "Absolutely! Can you even walk in those?"
Caspian had a smug look on his face, "I actually learned to," He said confidently, picking up a classic pair of pumps. "I’ll show you."
Lake got comfortable on a nearby ottoman, the glum look on his face fading to one of glowing smiles as Caspian effortlessly strutted to and fro past him.
He clapped happily like it was a show, already having another pair set out for his friend to try.
They soon moved to dresses and Lake soon adjusted to Caspian’s sweetening scent so he didn’t notice it anymore, a handful of pearls in one hand and a glittery shawl in another as he tried to put an outfit together with Caspian.
It was bright in the closet, the sweet scents of happy Omegas suffused the space, as well as an array of perfumes.
A thud interrupted this bright scene making them both freeze, Lake had been about to put Caspian in a corset, the loose, sheer dress shirt his friend had on was lifted high.
They exchanged a look...
"What was that?" Lake asked, he found himself whispering.
"I have no idea." Caspian replied, pulling down his shirt, wearing lacy thigh highs and short shorts underneath - they had been in the middle of creating a new outfit.
The thud came again, louder this time.
"Is that the bedroom door?" Lake deduced.
Caspian didn’t move, with good reason too, that didn’t sound like a knock. "It’s reinforced with steel," He said in a small voice - Only Asher should be able to break it.
The sound of crashing made them both jump, Caspian’s eyes going round. "Oh no, it’s Asher."
Lake already had his phone out and was about to call the very person Caspian just mentioned. "What? What are you talking about?"
Caspian just held his face - they didn’t have a lot of time. "Once Asher comes in, I want you to leave as fast as you can, I’ll distract him."
Lake was at a complete loss, it did explain why no alarm had been raised when it sounded like someone was about to take down an entire wall.
He wasn’t about to leave Caspian to face whatever insanity was going on, when they were both safely away, then they could discuss a plan.
Without wasting another moment, Lake snagged his friend’s wrist and took off towards the door. The closet’s sliding doors came down at that moment and he used the distraction to dart past the Alpha.
He caught a glimpse of Asher when they went past him, a cold shiver going down his back at the empty, feral look in Asher’s eyes. Yeah, no way he was leaving Caspian behind.
At the completely destroyed doorway, Caspian pulled his hand away. "Go without me. Call Jael."
Lake screeched to a stop and then turned around to see Asher staring in their direction ominously. The Alpha’s hair was wild and he had clearly just barreled through reinforced steel doors.
"Like hell I’m going without you." He said resolutely, standing his ground.
