Rosie cautiously drove into the parking lot of Mafia King Nikolai’s casino, no one stopped her as she did, and even though she expected that, she moved carefully.

Very few people knew that she worked closely with Lake and Davian after all.

Her ginger hair was neatly pinned back as always, with two side bangs framing her face. Rosie stepped out of the car with her handbag and her trusty digital pad.

She wore heels and a sheer pantyhose underneath her short shirt, confidently striding across the asphalt. The bouncers at the entrance already zeroed in on her as soon as she approached, immediately picking up on the fact that she wasn’t part of the usual clientele.

Rosie was polite but she didn’t smile as she spoke. "Take me to Mafia King Nikolai, I’ve got a message from Mafia King Davian." She said levelly.

Rosie wasn’t scared of being in physical danger because neither Davian nor Lake would be pleased if something were to happen to her, but the atmosphere at the casino was intimidating regardless.

The man in front of her frowned, glancing at his partner. The other shrugged and tilted his head to signal his approval.

The man she had spoken to gave her another once-over and then made a move. "Come with me," He said brusquely, leading the way through the grand doors.

Rosie strode in, her button nose wrinkling at the scent of liquor that slammed into her as soon as she walked in. The entire ground floor of the massive building was just an open floor and the noise was deafening.

Machines were constantly going off, as well as other games and the clinking of glasses. They quickly crossed the room to a set of stairs and the bouncer stopped there.

"Go up to the third floor and ask for the boss-"

There was a dull thud from somewhere in the room behind them, followed by a sharp cry of pain, and despite the noisy state of the room, Rosie was sure she had heard someone’s bones be broken.

The bouncer didn’t wait to give her any additional information, turning around and cutting through the room just as effortlessly as he had brought her here, returning to his post.

Rosie didn’t hesitate to start up the stairs, hopefully, the third floor smelled better than the ground floor. She merely got a glimpse of the second floor but she felt shivers go down her back.

On the third floor, she walked right into a bunch of men with their guns drawn. They no doubt had already been alerted by the bouncers on the ground floor about her showing up.

Rosie straightened her back, "I don’t have a weapon on me so put those out of my face and take me to Mafia King Nikolai..."

"Hmm?" A new voice hummed from behind the line of armed men, "Who’s here to see me?"

The men parted to reveal the person that had spoken, there were few pictures of Mafia King Nikolai on the internet, like merely taking the Alpha’s picture was bad luck. But she had seen him before, so she recognized him instantly.

Rosie ignored the guns still pointed at her and straightened her shoulders to speak to Mafia King Nikolai directly. "Rosie Read, Lake’s secretary."

He didn’t bother throwing Davian’s name around with the Mafia King, because he was one of the few people who knew the true extent of the influence that Lake now wielded.

Nikolai lifted a brow, the Mafia King looked like he had been on his way out, his dark blond hair was slicked back, dark blue eyes sinister.

"I’ve got a message from Mafia King Davian." Rosie resolutely pushed right on, she wanted Isabella Blackburn out of the picture, so she was taking this task very seriously.

Nikolai gave her a once-over, and unlike when the bouncer had done it, Rosie felt chilly all over. She wasn’t eager to take on another task like this one, if Davian wanted to ask a favor, he could come down to the Mafia King’s casino himself.

"Come along," Nikolai turned around, his black trench coat swishing.

Rosie could still feel the guns cocked at her as she walked behind the tall Alpha, it was a miracle she didn’t trip over her own feet and go sprawling. She knew without a doubt that they were waiting for the barest hint of an order from Mafia King Nikolai, and if he wanted her dead, her body would be littered with holes.

Nikolai took off his coat after leading her into a lavish office. It looked more like a lounge room than an office, with comfortable sofas and a wet bar, a large screen TV on a far wall.

"Take a seat," He invited, settling on the out-of-place throne-like chair in the middle of the sitting area. "What does Davian need that he couldn’t come himself?"

Rosie took a seat although she preferred to stand, she would rather not get on the Mafia King’s bad side. "Mafia King Davian is out of the city currently, and the matter is rather urgent."

Mafia King Nikolai looked amused, and Rosie felt another cold chill go down her back, she would rather he remained indifferent and reserved. There was a hint of mania in that very faint smile, it made her squirm on the comfy sofa she was seated on.

"An urgent matter? I’m all ears."

Rosie loved her job, she had adapted seamlessly when she was promoted from being Davian’s secretary at Fluxcorp to being Lake’s secretary period.

It meant that she was now working closely with the dark underbelly of Haines, but she already knew that Davian was a Mafia King before she agreed to work for him at first, so it didn’t bother her in the slightest.

"Davian sent me to ask for a favor," Rosie started carefully, knowing better than to show all of her cards.

Nikolai’s gaze went heavy-lidded. "I don’t do favors."

Rosie expected that response. "Mafia King Davian is willing to pay, as long as your demands are reasonable."

Nikolai went back to being amused, his emotions a pendulum. "He’s willing to pay? What’s so important?"
