Chapter 343: -Chapter 343-
Davian spaced out for the rest of the meeting, so much so that Bella gave up on trying to get his attention.
It made Lake worry that he had crossed the line, concern painting his features as he watched Davian.
The meeting ended earlier than he predicted and that was because the executives didn’t have the patience for it to drag on any longer.
BlueAir was a small struggling company, and the shareholders weren’t interested in funding a money drain. The CEO spoke at length but unless they found a way to increase productivity out of the blue, there might be no saving the company from going under.
Davian was simply a shareholder and all Lake had to do was protect his interests, they had no obligations whatsoever to the company.
As soon as the meeting ended, executives made their way out in droves, leaving behind Lake, Davian, and Bella who was using this opportunity to freely strike up a conversation with Davian.
There was one more person in the board room, Clint approached Lake as the last executive left - he picked up his ringing phone as he stepped out of the door.
"We meet again," Clint smiled harmlessly, ignoring Davian and Bella on the other side of the table.
Lake could barely pay attention to the Alpha in front of him, his eyes constantly straying to Davian and Bella.
When Davian didn’t so much as give Bella a response, she hastily joined their conversation.
"So you two really do know each other," She said with a shallow smile, getting up to come over.
Like they were opposite sides of a magnet, Clint made for the door as Bella approached, outrightly ignoring the heiress.
This meant that Bella only met Lake when she came to the other side of the table.
Lake calmly stared up at her, waiting to see what she would say.
Bella did look like she had a lot to say but she just glared at him, gave one last inscrutable look to Davian, and then marched out in high heels.
That left just Lake and Davian in the empty boardroom. They couldn’t stay here very long, the cleaning staff in the company would be here soon.
Now that it was just the two of them, Lake lost his bravado, embarrassment digging its claws into him.
"I’m sorry about that," He mumbled, not sure what he was apologizing for.
If it was for kicking Davian in the balls or boldly giving him a footjob in the middle of a board meeting.
Lake shrunk deeper into himself, not sure what to do. Davian didn’t respond to his apologies, the Alpha had his face hidden in his arms on the desk.
The sound of soft conversation outside the boardroom doors pushed him to his feet. It was almost noon, even if Davian was mad at him, they would have to figure it out at the mansion.
So he rose to his feet and went around the table to lightly touch Davian, "Hey."
The Alpha raised his head then, a little disoriented, and out of it, it made Lake worry more.
"Are you alright?" He softened his voice, giving in to the urge to cup Davian’s face.
The Alpha leaned into his touch, his face flushed, pupils blown.
It took a moment for the realization to sink in. Lake had done this. It was his fault that Davian looked this wrecked.
The door to the boardroom opened then, making him flinch like they had been doing something secretive.
The staff also caught a fright, "I’m sorry. I was told the boardroom was empty."
"It is." He said in a rush, turning to Davian to say in a quieter voice. "We’ve got to go."
Davian seemed to put himself together then, rising to his feet.
They got to the elevator without event, Lake sighing in relief when the door closed. It was just the two of them in the elevator so he could properly pay attention to Davian.
The Alpha was keeping a wide berth between them and Lake couldn’t blame him, he had overstepped.
Davian still helped him hold his door open when they got to the car. Lake was the one driving and his thoughts were a mess.
"A-Are you upset with me?" He finally gave in and asked, his voice trembling.
That completely snapped Davian out of his haze of pleasure. "What?"
"I-"
"I’m still hard," He reminded in case Lake had forgotten.
Lake colored up, his hands gripped the wheels, pale and bloodless. Right, of course, he would be upset at that.
He didn’t know how to respond to that, but he supposed he should take full responsibility.
"When we get to the mansion," He murmured, his voice barely audible.
It was plainly obvious what he was promising. Davian leaned back in the passenger seat at his words, his eyes closed and his brows knitted like he was in pain.
Lake’s eyes trailed down the Alpha’s torso, nearly losing his grip on the wheel when his gaze dropped to his crotch.
That did look like it hurt. Was he the reason Davian was in this state?
Although he felt a little guilty, he also felt pride, trying not to think about what he promised as he drove through the mansion gates.
If you asked Lake, he couldn’t tell you what had been discussed at the board meeting. A report summarizing the meeting would be sent to his mail though so he couldn’t find it in him to be concerned.
They both ended up in Lake’s room out of habit, the Omega just as jumpy and disoriented as Davian who stood off expectantly to the side.
The scene they painted nearly made Lake chuckle, here they were acting like shy teenagers like he wasn’t already pregnant with the Alpha’s baby.
"Take your shirt off," He said kindly, reminded of Davian’s rut and how he had to often take the lead.
He guided Davian to take a seat at the edge of his bed and then made his way over to the dresser to hold his hair back with a hair band.
Davian watched him curiously, a fine sheen of sweat on his muscled body, his pants uncomfortably tight.
Lake made his way over and got to his knees in front of Davian. He looked up at him as he placed his slender hands carefully on the inside of the Alpha’s thighs.
