The foyer was empty when he stepped in and Lake couldn’t tell if it was a good or bad thing.

He thought quickly after getting in, bumping into Matilda would be devastating.

He didn’t even know if she was still at the mansion which made things all the more delicate.

Lake immediately slipped into the staff locker room, he knew the mansion like the back of his hand, so getting around was easy.

When he got there, he came up with a plan. He would just go to Davian’s bedroom and stay there till the Alpha returned.

No one ever went there, and even if someone did, hiding would be easy... hopefully.

With his mind made up, he moved quickly. The house staff were constantly moving around, and he would hate to bump into any of them.

Just as he predicted, the master wing was completely empty, the hallway of Davian’s bedroom the same.

Behind Davian’s bedroom door, Savannah and Natasha cowered against the door.

An Alpha in rut was easy bait but Davian wasn’t in that league, because he was just pissed off by their appearance.

Before they could respond the door handle behind them turned slowly, the door opening to reveal the very last person they both expected to see.

Lake was even more stunned to see them, staring right past the two Omegas standing in front of him right to a half-naked Davian.

The first thing he noticed was how powerful that damned chocolate scent was.

Before any of them could say a word, the sound of pattering feet came from the end of the hallway.

Lake turned to see Matilda and Arthur flat-out running over and he blanched.

"I’m sorry if I interrupted something important," He murmured, breaking the silence.

Just as he turned around to dash off, Davian spoke. "Don’t move."

Lake was frozen like Davian had held a gun to his head, wilting as the crowd at the Alpha’s bedroom got bigger.

"What the fuck is going on here, Arthur?" Davian demanded, getting aggravated with each passing second.

Savannah and Natasha had wisely bolted out of his bedroom to hide behind Matilda.

"I heard from the house staff that Lake was headed to the master wing so I came here right away!" The butler reported, frothing at the mouth.

The information about Lake’s presence was enough to make him get over his issues with Matilda in a split second.

Because even though they couldn’t stand each other, the male Omega was their mutual enemy.

Davian was running out of patience, his skin tingling.

"Don’t play fucking dense." He bit out, his hands clenching in a fist like he very much wanted to gift him a right hook.

It was only then Arthur realized that Lake was indeed the least of his problems because he had broken the rules given to him by Master Davian.

"I-I-I..." He spluttered, his hands fidgeting in his panic.

"Disobey my orders again, and you will all be having lead for dinner." Davian handed to them.

He could relax a little when they all hastily made themselves scarce. Matilda had looked like she had something else to say but she wisely didn’t.

Lake was the only one left behind after the group left, thinking about how everything that could have gone bad did go bad.

"T-This doesn’t seem like the right time for a conversation," He spoke nervously when all Davian did was stare at him.

"So...so, I’ll just come back late- ah!" He yelped when the Alpha just stepped out of his room to snatch him up.

Lake squirmed in Davian’s hold, trying to negotiate his escape. "M-Master Davian?" He called nervously.

"Quiet," Davian ordered, the single word said with a sigh.

Lake could hardly stay quiet when the Mafia King was essentially abducting him to his bed.

Davian didn’t care for his protests, pulling him down to his messy bed with him, his arms like iron bars around him.

All Mafia King Davian did was bury his face in the curve of his neck, breathing deeply like his scent was some sort of breathing aid.

Lake went rigid, something wasn’t right... actually, nothing had been right since he got here. Nothing had gone right too.

Master Davian’s dark scent was everywhere, it made him feel heavy, the Alpha’s scalding body heat unbearable.

Davian lifted his head up, and when he spoke Lake could hear the frown in his voice. "You smell different."

Honestly, he was just as dense at the Alpha for not picking up on it right away...

Davian also smelled different - well, not different per se. He just smelled too much, his scent permeating everything in the room.

The Master was in his rut...

Lake would laugh if he wasn’t in danger, it was almost like there was a magnet that drew him to the Mafia King whenever he was in his rut.

It was honestly not his fault that he hadn’t noticed. He had written off the Alpha’s scent at first as a him problem, that dark scent of bitter chocolate had haunted him every day since that fateful night.

So the fact that it was the only thing he could smell when he opened the door didn’t stand out too much.

Also, Master Davian had acted the same as he always did, if a little more irritable.

The Alpha in rut he had experienced was one that went from clingy, obsessed, and possessive to docile and obedient, nothing like how Davian had acted when he showed up.

Lake turned around because he needed to see Davian’s face when he told him.

"That’s because I’m pregnant."

Lake regretted it immediately he said it. This couldn’t be a worse time to tell the Mafia King that.

Davian stared at him silently for a long while, absolutely nothing in those gray eyes of his.

Lake was almost about to take his words back and figure out a way to get away from Davian when the Alpha spoke.

"For me?"

"God, I hope so," Lake muttered under his breath, trying to break away from Master Davian’s hold.

Having this conversation in such an intimate position was really detrimental to him.
