Chapter 258: -Chapter 258-
Caspian fell against the bed, fully dressed. It had been a whirlwind of events ever since he had the conversation with Noah.
He had expected that they would be spending a couple more days in Moonstone, but they had the conversation just yesterday, and in roughly a day, the divorce documents were signed.
They would be getting the papers first thing the next morning and then they could leave.
And although it meant that he had spent the entire day dealing with the proceedings, it was all worth it.
Because here he was back in the hotel room with his mate walking in through the door holding their dinner.
"Don’t fall asleep yet, baby, you barely ate all day."
Caspian grumbled, laying face down on the bed. "Can’t we eat tomorrow?"
They had gone for a simple hotel room, they had no plans to stay here for very long anyway.
"The food will go to waste," Asher said logically, dropping off their food on a table, "I even got us wine."
Caspian’s head lifted a little at that, their fun brunch of pizza and wine had been interrupted the day before.
Plus he didn’t even need to see Noah the next day before he left, so it didn’t matter if he got drunk.
But agreeing to that would mean that he had to get up to clean up before eating.
Another sleepy grumble and he was rolling out of bed, "Let’s shower together to save time." Caspian decided, immediately getting with the program so that he didn’t lose his zeal again.
Asher’s hazel gold eyes were focused on him as he caught his mate by the lapels of his half-unbuttoned shirt to pull him to the bathroom, Asher going with him easily.
He made sure to take his mate’s rings off, although his eyelids were practically dropping, smacking away Asher’s hands when his mate immediately reached for him.
"No touching," He cautioned, knowing that if he gave into Asher’s antics, they wouldn’t get to eat on time.
He ignored the look of a beaten-down puppy his mate wore at that, the brisk shower clearing out most of his sleepiness.
Caspian pulled on one of the bathrobes provided by the hotel, stopping to look at himself in the mirror.
Asher slipped behind him, his dark red hair almost black as it was wet.
His mate placed both hands on the counters on both sides of him pinning him to the counter.
Caspian leaned his head all the way back against Asher’s shoulder so that he could see his mate without the help of the mirror.
He squinted his eyes when droplets of water fell to his face from Asher.
"You’re going to catch a cold if you don’t dry yourself," He cautioned in an airy voice, sighing as he sank against Asher’s body.
They managed to get back in time to eat before their meal became inedible, Caspian cradling an entire bottle of wine to himself.
Asher just sat back and let him do whatever he wanted, content to watch him.
He humored his tipsy mate who insisted they made a toast for every drink they poured out, emptying a bottle of wine between the two of them.
Well into the second bottle, Asher had to clear out the rest of the dishes, getting room service to come take it out.
Because Caspian was unsteady now, and he didn’t want his mate to bump into anything.
"I’m still upset that you went to get drunk without me," Caspian complained.
The Omega was seated on the ground, clutching the entire secondary bottle of wine while managing to hold onto his half-empty glass.
"You should have gotten drunk with me instead," He pouted, pointing an accusatory finger at Asher with the glass in his hand.
All Asher felt was a light buzz, and he preferred it that way, getting drunk never ended well... at least for him.
Because his mate was stumbling to his feet to pour him another glass of wine, a drunk smile on his face.
Caspian being drunk always ended well... especially for him.
"But you don’t like to get drunk," Asher humored him, taking the glass of white wine offered to him.
Caspian stopped to look at him, swaying slightly on his feet. "I’ll drink for you," He said solemnly, letting Asher pry the almost empty bottle of wine from his hands.
"And that way, you can drink something that isn’t bitter," Caspian went right on.
"But my mouth still tastes bitter..." Asher sat on one of the armchairs in the hotel room.
Caspian immediately closed the distance between them, a look of expressive concern on his face.
"It does?"
"Yeah," Asher went along. He wasn’t driving this time so he intended to enjoy every bit of his drunk mate.
Caspian was climbing up him now, his bathrobe slipping down a shoulder to reveal a silvery scar of sharp teeth marks.
He still held on stubbornly to his glass of wine, managing not to spill it down Asher’s body.
"Let me see," Caspian asked, sounding like Asher broke his ankle.
Asher humored him again, curious about Caspian’s thought process.
The last time he had complained about a foul taste in his mouth, Caspian had kissed it away, so he was waiting for another such lavish treatment.
Instead, his pretty little Omega just inspected the interior of his mouth with a solemn expression like he was a dentist.
And it took a lot for Asher not to close the distance between them, and put his mouth to use.
"Come with me," Caspian got off him and gently put his wine glass on the ground, it was empty now and Asher hadn’t even noticed when he drank it all.
He was wearing sweatpants, his torso bare while Caspian hadn’t gotten out of that bathrobe that left nothing to the imagination.
He curiously followed his mate who led them to the bathroom, and with that same concerned expression on his face handed him his toothbrush.
"Try cleaning your mouth, baby, you might feel better."
It was said with so much seriousness that it made him chuckle, taking Caspian’s wrist instead of the offered toothbrush to pull his mate closer to him.
"I know something that would work better."
