Chapter 237: -Chapter 237-
Caspian was so excited about his lunch date for the next day, that if wearing lace socks hadn’t become a new habit, he would have forgotten to wear them.
Asher was starting to get used to them as well; his mate no longer treated them like they were radioactive and was more handsy with them now.
"I bumped into Lake today at the store," He said as he crawled up the length of Asher’s body.
Watching shows after dinner was a staple of theirs, even though they were both quick to doze off from each other’s body heat.
Asher stiffened, "You did?"
"Yeah, he even helped me pick out new clothes," Caspian went on, too excited to notice Asher’s reaction.
Asher let his fingers caress the edges of his mate’s recent addition to his sleepwear. "And Davian?"
Caspian paused for a moment from the unexpected question, realizing that he hadn’t asked Lake about the Mafia King.
"I don’t think he’s working at Davian’s place anymore," He said with a prominent frown on his face. "He has an apartment in the 5th District."
"Which is what I was getting to because I’m going over for lunch tomorrow!" Caspian got fired up again, cupping Asher’s face as he straddled him.
His mate didn’t share his excitement however, more recalcitrant about the idea.
"I could take tomorrow off," He murmured, more to himself.
Caspian’s brow furrowed, worried that he had forgotten something important. "Why?"
"Because I’m tagging along to lunch." Asher straightened up, making Caspian cling to him.
"No, you’re not," He protested, trying to lean back when Asher nuzzled his neck, and failing because Asher was the only thing keeping him from falling to the ground.
"I’ll be in the background, you won’t even notice I’m there."
Caspian completely doubted that, Asher commanded attention without trying; there would be no ignoring the Mafia King.
"But there’s no reason to come along, I’ll have Peter and Keith with me." He pressed on, refusing to give in.
He wasn’t going to let his mate babysit him when he was in the process of making a new friend.
"It just a coincidence that I’ll be free tomorrow, and Lake has ties with Davian, I have every reason to be there."
Caspian gave his mate an exasperated look knowing that there would be no convincing him otherwise now.
He would rather have Asher come on his terms than have the Alpha crash his lunch date with a slew of men.
So he didn’t point out his mate’s blatant lie about coincidentally being free.
"Fine," He accepted, a pout on his lips.
Caspian had been about to give Asher a condition, but he doubted there was anything that could stop him when he had his mind set on something.
Making the condition Lake’s approval was just being cruel to the other Omega, so he didn’t.
"But," He verbally interrupted Asher’s kiss, "You need to be on your best behavior and not scare Lake," He cautioned.
Asher caught his chin then, over Caspian’s avoidance of his affection.
"When am I not?" He asked with his voice low, right before Caspian could taste his tongue piercing at the back of his throat.
There was no way this would blow up in their faces, right? right?

Lake couldn’t make much sense of Caspian’s panicked call that morning.
And rightly so, because why would Mafia King Asher want to tag along on their lunch date?
He wondered if something came up, and Caspian panicked because he didn’t know how to cancel their plans.
That was more along the lines of what the other Omega was like, so he interrupted his confusing tirade and told him it was fine, and there was nothing to worry about.
Caspian had sounded really relieved and grateful after that, and then he hung up.
But now, Lake was the worried one, because why would Mafia King Asher want to tag along on their lunch date??
It had been an hour since then and he hadn’t been able to put himself together or get anything done since then.
A knock on his door was expected but it made him flinch nevertheless, hurrying to the door with a lump in his throat.
Caspian was at the door just like he expected, and there were two men behind him, but they were the wrong people.
Instead of Peter and Keith, Mafia King Asher and his right-hand man Jael stood behind an apologetic Caspian.
They both stared down intimidatingly at him, and it had him wondering if they didn’t have better things to do than be here.
"Welcome," He greeted with a plastic smile, unsure of what to do.
"I’m so sorry about them," Caspian apologized, looking upset.
Lake found it easy to smile then. As intimidating as both powerful men were, they had dropped everything they were doing because they were worried about Caspian.
"It’s fine, come right in." He invited them generously.
Caspian’s upset expression fell off his face then, his bright smile replacing it as he stepped in.
Lake could only watch from the background as Caspian gave the men orders even though they were easily a head taller than him.
What was more surprising than that was how easily and quickly they complied, obediently sitting, their big bodies dwarfing his sofas.
"I’ve got card games if you’re not interested in shows," Lake stepped forward.
He would be in the kitchen with Caspian for most of the time so everything was still right on program.
Jael’s dim, dark eyes always seemed to see right through the silk tie on his neck, it made him more nervous of the Beta than Mafia King Asher.
"We’ll take it," Jael was the one to speak, Asher taking the pack of cards from him.
Lake had to pat himself on the back for not dropping the cards while giving them to Asher.
"We’ll be in the kitchen if you need us," He made sure to inform them, taking Caspian’s wrist and pulling him along.
"No shooting each other," Caspian cautioned both men who were preparing their first game.
And that made Lake’s brows furrow in concern. What?
