They got to the entrance of the store at the same time that the Omega was getting dragged out.

Caspian marched forward with all the confidence he didn’t feel, looking like any random person in his casual clothes.

"Take your hands off him," He ordered, his voice cutting.

Just like with Peter, Caspian felt like his orders were obeyed out of sheer shock.

He could see the look of recognition on the bandaged man’s face who stood in front, he seemed to be the one leading the posse.

"Lake, come over here." He kept throwing orders when no one tried to stop him.

The male Omega moved quickly for someone who had to be beyond confused, Caspian placing a protective arm around him.

"I won’t stand for my friend to be treated this way." He went on, just saying whatever came to mind at that point, "Whatever it is, you can take it up with Asher."

Peter and Keith were just coming over at that point, and they managed to catch the tail end of Caspian’s words.

They were completely not on board with Caspian meddling with another Mafia King’s business so openly yet they proudly backed him up.

It was a good thing it was so early in the morning, because it meant that the store and its environs were mostly empty.

Because they would have attracted a crowd with all of the theatrics happening.

"I’m glad you understand," Caspian concluded haughtily, taking Lake’s bag off his shoulder and handing it to Peter who was quick to take it.

He tightly held the Omega’s hand and turned around, marching for the car he had so abruptly left.

The entire time, Caspian expected a retaliation but nothing happened.

They had bought his bluff. He couldn’t believe it.

"We’re so fucked." Peter muttered as he helped both Omegas get in the car.

"Don’t be so pessimistic, Peter," Caspian said, still riding high on his fake confidence. "I’m sure Asher can handle this."

He still held tightly to the male Omega’s hand because he didn’t let go, and he noticed it was trembling so he held on even tighter.

"Yeah," Keith agreed, turning around to give Lake a once-over. "You’ll definitely be fine. I’m not so sure about him."

Caspian refused to let them bring him down, he would have asked that they drive right to Asher but he still needed to deliver the fruits.

He would just have to call his mate... ASAP.

"I’ll just call him and confirm," Caspian reached for his phone with his free hand, his uncertainty clear to hear in his voice.

Throughout all of this, Lake sat stiffly in the car, scared to lean against the expensive leather.

He still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that he had been saved, and by none other than the eccentric mate of a Mafia King.

"Hi, Asher," Caspian said into the phone in a false cheery tone.

Asher immediately picked up on it. "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing," He said defensively, "Why did you jump to that conclusion?"

"Are you alright? Does your head hurt? Do I need to come back home?"

Caspian had completely forgotten that he had been sick in the face of all that had happened.

"No, no, none of that." He reassured him in a rush, "I just did a little something." He started carefully.

Everyone in the car was fully focused on the conversation now, Peter stepping on the gas like they were being chased down.

"What did you do?"

Asher’s tone was concerned and a little confused, Caspian was yet to see his Alpha angry and he hoped this wouldn’t be the moment he would.

"So I went to the store to get some fruits-"

"You went to the store?" Asher cut in, already disapproving.

"Wait, I’m not done yet," Caspian pouted.

If Asher already disapproved of just that, how would he take the latter half of what he did?

"And there was a poor Omega being chased down by Mafia King Davian’s men, so I helped him." He said in a rush.

Asher fell completely silent, Caspian could hear the background noise of a quiet conversation happening nearby.

"Are you hurt?" Asher finally spoke.

Caspian sighed in silent relief, "No, no, I’m fine. I know I should have told you before I did it but there was no time."

"I’d rather you tell me before going to the store," Asher changed the line of conversation, sounding huffy.

"But if I did, you would try to stop me-"

"Because you’re still recovering-"

Caspian was doubly relieved to find out that there had been no reason to be stressed out about what he had done.

Asher seemed to only care that he was out of bed and doing menial labor, he might be able to save the male Omega completely after all.

He had to hang up when his mate started trying to bargain for him to get more bed rest, giving everyone a bright smile.

"Asher didn’t mind," He said like what he had told the Alpha was something casual like what movie to watch.

"Lake, your name is Lake, right?" Caspian finally could pay attention to the Omega after making sure he wouldn’t be thrown in danger again.

"Y-Yeah," Lake had to clear his throat for his voice to work, awe in his light brown eyes.

"You can stay with me for as long as you need, okay?" He offered generously.

Lake fish mouthed for a few seconds, "Aren’t you even going to ask what I did?"

Caspian looked alarmed at that, like he was just considering that Lake might be the dangerous one. "Did you do something bad?" He whispered.

"N-No," Lake retreated into himself, nervous about saying what truly happened, even to his savior.

Peter shot him a look through the rearview mirror. "Saying the truth would really help you out right now."

"I didn’t commit a c-crime if that’s what you’re thinking," Lake defended, his voice hitching a bit when he remembered the stolen items sitting in his bag.
