Chapter 192: +Chapter 192+

They had showed up halfway into the play, so it was even more confusing but they weren’t here for the plot of the play.

There were more fun things to hold their interest, the actors on stage, their outfits, the audience...

They stepped out of the theater as the sun was losing its strength in the sky, Caspian laughing so hard that he had to support himself on Jael’s arm.

One of the background actors playing a prop on stage had tripped and sent one of the main actors flying off the stage.

The hilarity was amplified by the fact that everyone else was trying to remain silent so that the play could go on.

He was still wiping tears when he got in the car, laughing too hard to notice the stares the both of them drew from formally dressed audience that stepped out of the theater with them.

"We should absolutely do that again," He said when he could speak again, barely paying attention to where they were going next.

"I don’t think they’ll let us back with how hard you were laughing back there." Jael pointed out, catching his bottom lip between his teeth to keep his laughter in.

"I don’t know how no one else was laughing," Caspian said while gasping as he tried to speak, laugh, and breathe at the same time.

"The actor was launched like he was shot out of a rocket..."

Caspian dissolved into laughter again, because the poor castle turret responsible had spun around a few times trying to regain their balance, and while they did that, the other actors scrambled out of the way.

So it was pandemonium on the stage for a full minute or two, and in that time, the audience was so silent one could hear a pin drop.

Caspian didn’t know how he managed to keep his laughter in, but he was making up for that by laughing so hard now that his sides hurt.

"Where are we going next?" He asked after several minutes had passed, finally able to get past the play’s mishap.

"To the mansion."

Caspian sat up straighter at that, immediately reminded of what was going to happen when he got back.

"I should have called Asher," He tutted, serious now. "Is he even at the mansion?"

"Why don’t you find out for yourself?"

Caspian shot Jael one of many suspicious looks, he didn’t fully believe that the Beta didn’t know anything.

But Jael was usually quick to let him know whenever Asher did anything, so he was tempted to believe him.

Caspian didn’t wait for Jael to open the door for him when they drove into the gates.

He was already out of the car before Jael could even get out of the car, shooting the Beta a happy smile before hurrying through the front doors.

Jael didn’t make an effort to go after him, leaning against the car and pulling out his phone.

"He’s on his way up," He said into the phone when Asher picked.

The call dropped without a response, and one wasn’t needed.

The sun was setting, and the red sky made Jael squint, not because it was bright...

But because the red sunset held too many poignant memories that it stung to look at.

He got back in the car and drove out again although there was no reason to, digging around for mints as he turned the car on.

Caspian tried to walk with a measured pace as he went up the stairs, he had a feeling that Asher wasn’t home yet, and the Alpha was truly busy.

It was more like Asher to get Jael to keep him company just because he would be busy.

Nothing seemed out of place as he went down the hallway. The kitchen staff would be rounding up for the day as they no longer made three meals daily from scratch.

The first thing he noticed as soon as he pushed open the door of the bedroom was the telltale scent of violets.

It was overpowering enough for him to notice, which was saying a lot considering that he smelled like the purple flowers all of the time.

The room was dim enough for him to instantly notice that the bathroom door was ajar, a strange warm light spilling from the bathroom.

Without slowing down, Caspian closed the door behind him and immediately beelined for the bathroom.

The maids rarely went in there unless it was to pick up the laundry, and when they did a thorough clean, it was when they were both out of the mansion.

The scents of violets got stronger the closer he got to the bathroom, the sweet scent of sugar mixing perfectly in a way that felt familiar but one that he hardly noticed.

The lights were out in the bathroom but there was a metric ton of candles lighting the place up, it was also the reason for the sugary sweet scent that filled the space.

The first thing he noticed was Asher seated at the edge of the pool, the steaming water was covered with purple flower petals.

He leaned against the door with a soft smile on the face, the warmth of the candles giving Asher’s hair a fiery glow.

"Want to join me in the pool?" Asher broke the silence.

Asher didn’t even have to ask because even if it was a stormy sea and not a meticulously arranged indoor pool, he would jump in without thinking.

He took his snug top off as he walked gingerly through the path the big candles placed on the bathroom floor made.

"I hope it’s not cold," He said humorously although he could see the steam rising up for himself.

"Why don’t you find out for yourself?"

For the first time, Caspian wished he was a little drunk, but being self-conscious didn’t stop him from taking his clothes off.

Even if he struggled a bit to pry his shorts off...

The water was deliciously warm, the scented water soothing, but not as satisfying as stepping into Asher’s open arms.
