Chapter 180: +Chapter 180+
The euphoria of learning to make something really important to him faded away when preparations for lunch started, he was ushered out with another slyly manufactured bowl of fruits.
Caspian could even fight to stay because they weren’t getting rid of him because they didn’t want him there but because they wanted to prove that they would handle things without his presence.
So again, he was back in the same sitting room, watching a movie he couldn’t focus on, and fighting the urge to text Asher.
The change in pace of his days was really impressive, just the day before, he barely had the time to do so much as sit idly.
And now, that was all he could do.
Caspian got up and picked up his half-eaten bowl of fruits, putting off the television as he did.
Maybe a change of pace would be nice; So, he went to the bedroom to play some games.
Why did the time he spent apart from Asher feel like an eternity? If the Alpha was just off at work, Caspian wouldn’t have felt his absence this much.
A few games in and he was already bored, his bowl of fruits empty. It was just the first day, how was he supposed to survive the entire week?
They would have to talk about this, the next time Asher was going on a trip he couldn’t avoid, Caspian was coming along even if it meant sneaking in the trunk of the Alpha’s car.
Where had Asher even gone? He hadn’t been in the right state of mind to ask Jael the day before, he would remember to do that when Jael returned.
While lunch was prepared, Caspian got comfortable on the couch in the sitting area and scrolled idly on his phone.
Since he got the phone, he had never really gotten the chance to do this, well not like he hadn’t gotten the chance, he just had never been this desperate for a distraction before.
Even reading books couldn’t save him, but what had he really been expecting when he couldn’t even play games for a distraction.
Scrolling through videos and posts were a perfect distraction and seeing as he was trying to stave away thoughts of Asher, it was no surprise that he clicked on anything that vaguely mentioned the Mafia King.
There was little media coverage on Asher, and with the very illegal things he got up to, Caspian wasn’t at all surprised.
But there were little independent fan clubs, most were locked but the one open one he found had a pinned post talking about Asher at the airport late last night.
Caspian sat up with a scowl on his face, he hadn’t even known about that.
One of the members of the fan club was an air hostess who worked on the plane, and she had even taken a picture.
It was blurry and a little lopsided but there was no mistaking that it was Asher.
A sudden knock on the door startled him more than he should have, and he tucked his phone under his pillow as a maid stepped in.
Which was ridiculous because he was hardly committing a crime, other than completely failing not to think about Asher, he hadn’t done anything wrong.
"It’s lunch time!" She announced with a bright smile.
The maids were also benefiting from the men being fed because they also had their daily meals sorted out.
Their happiness was tangible whenever they spoke to him, and it was honestly more than what Caspian had been expecting when he decided to undertake cooking for the entire mansion.
He noted that they treated him with less distance and formality, because instead of bringing his lunch like they would have done, the maid was instead coming to get him to the kitchen.
Caspian jumped on this chance to leave his own company, even though he knew that when he got to the kitchens, Katya would just prepare his tray and send him off again.
And he wasn’t wrong, because a handful of minutes later, he was back in the sitting room with another nondescript movie playing.
This time he wasn’t with his phone, so he had to focus on the television while he ate.
He could just go get it, but before lunch, he had distracted himself with the device till he came full circle and started stalking fan girl blogs about Asher.
Maybe he shouldn’t go back to his phone just yet, finding out information about his boyfriend from sketchy websites couldn’t be a worse move to make.
So, after lunch, Caspian got cozy on the sofa, finally able to pay attention to the movie.
Katya came along to check up on him with a smoothie in her hand, her approval at him relaxing clear to see.
Caspian didn’t plan to take a nap, but he couldn’t be upset when he woke up much later.
The day was over quicker, and he would be able to call Asher. Jael should also be back really soon.
He got to his feet and returned to the bedroom to splash some water on his face and grab his phone he had hidden away.
Caspian nearly dropped the phone trying to call Asher, anticipation making his hands tremble a bit.
The nervous smile on his face fell off when the call rang endlessly and then dropped.
He immediately moved to call again but the thought that Asher was probably busy made him freeze.
He held his phone tight and stared at Asher’s contact on his phone; Asher would certainly call him back when he did see the call, so he just had to be a little patient.
Torn between walking away from the phone and keeping it close to him in case Asher called back, Caspian found himself just staring at the device.
He was definitely overthinking things, Asher was perfectly fine, he was probably at a meeting or somewhere important...
Caspian paced a bit, he wanted to leave his phone alone for a bit to calm his nerves but at the same time he didn’t want to leave it and miss Asher’s call.
