Caspian found a purse that matched the red of his shirt and he hesitated to take it only for a split second.

He had his nails done and was wearing make-up, taking a purse wasn’t really going to affect anything.

Only when he found a solution to his pressing problem did he remember the existence of his lover, walking past wardrobes to go find Asher.

He wasn’t in the closet, so Caspian had to walk out to search for him, he didn’t expect to see Asher perched on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands.

He placed his hands on his waist as he walked up to the Alpha, "Do you really have to go?" He grumbled.

Asher looked up at Caspian, mere inches from begging him to stop pushing that point.

His self-control could only take so much.

He reached out instead to catch the Omega by the rows of pearls draped around his neck, Caspian coming willingly even though he held onto his hand with both of his.

Caspian evaded the Alpha’s kiss, a hand against his shoulder to hold him back. "You’re going to ruin my lipstick."

Asher clenched his teeth at that, but it was probably smarter to listen; because if he went right ahead, he doubted he could stop.

He rose to his feet instead, his fur coat completely black, dark red hair slicked back.

"Are you ready to leave?" He asked with a sour expression.

It was evening and much cooler, so Caspian didn’t protest the Alpha’s heavy coat, holding onto his hand even after he let go of his pearls, toying with his rings.

"I just need to grab my purse-"

"I’ll get it for you," Asher offered.

"It’s on the dresser!" Caspian called to him, his eyes settling on the shopping bags still left in the bedroom.

He should have let the maid help him put it away, but he hadn’t been expecting Asher to hurry back home.

There was no time to put it away now, he was sure that it would be attended to before they got back from the function.

Asher was out in no time, and the Alpha seemed to be in a foul mood.

Caspian could at least revel in the fact that Asher didn’t look like he wanted to be at the function, maybe he could get them to leave early.

He hung off Asher’s arm without waiting for the Alpha to offer it, anticipation thrumming through his veins.

"How was work?" He asked as they left the bedroom.

Asher held onto his purse, and he didn’t bother asking for it because he knew the Alpha wouldn’t give it over.

"Fine," Asher replied through gritted teeth.

Caspian smiled, his mood improving the worse Asher’s mood got. "I almost forgot to tell you that I went for a check-up..."

He filled the silence in between them when Asher didn’t seem inclined to say more.

He had actually planned to call Asher after his visit to Doctor Brianna, but his busy day had gotten the best of him.

"Doctor Brianna said I healed perfectly," He kept rambling, letting Asher help him into the passenger seat.

It was a two-seater car, Asher driving.

Caspian’s good mood from Brianna’s report returned, while Asher was the opposite.

The Alpha’s already dark mood soured further at the new information as he walked around to get in the car.

He was happy to hear the good news, but it couldn’t have come at a worse time, it didn’t help that Caspian was literally glowing, blue eyes smiling.

Asher might have driven faster than he should have, considering he had been the one to reassure Caspian that they could be late.

But being in a confined space with the Omega wasn’t very healthy for him, Caspian’s sweet scent on his tongue.

The function was being held at Blackburn’s private mansion, a slew of expensive and flashy cars parked in and around the high gates.

Asher was let in through the high gates at a quick glance from the guards at the Mafia King, a valet swiftly approaching to help him park.

Asher got out of the car and handed the valet the keys, going around to open the door for Caspian.

The valet was immediately focused on the Omega that the Mafia King helped out, at first because it was unlikely for Mafia King Asher to bring a partner to one of these high-society parties.

But his gaze lingered at his striking beauty, quickly glancing away at the cold look the Alpha shot him, his blood chilling.

Caspian was too focused on the interior of the gates to notice the minute interaction between Asher and the valet, walking off with the Alpha.

The car had stopped very close to the mansion so there wasn’t a long way to walk, the uniformed guards letting them pass through just as quickly as the ones at the gates had.

Caspian’s middle coiled from nerves, thinking that he had done too much and now looked tacky.

He was also unsettled from his inevitable encounter with Bella, too distracted by his personal issues to notice all the eyes on him.

Asher on the other hand was hyper aware of them, tightening his already possessive hold around Caspian’s waist.

If it were up to him, he would throw his coat over the Omega and throw him over his shoulder to take him back home.

There was a neat row of uniformed servants in the entrance hall, Caspian feeling doubly self-conscious when they bowed to them.

A pair of uniform servants led them to the ballroom where the function was being held.

Caspian could already hear the muted sounds of music and conversation, the dim hallway they were in opening to a brightly lit ballroom.

The servants bowed again and made themselves scarce, the entrance doors to the ballroom being opened attracted attention.

Caspian shrank a little at it; this was what he had expected from the first and only function he had gone to with Asher.

He couldn’t really say which of them he preferred now.
