Caspian went silent for a few beats at the store assistant’s question, realizing that he hadn’t asked what kind of function it was.

If there was a dress code, he was sure Asher would have told him, and if it wouldn’t give away his secretive plans, he would have called up the Alpha to inquire.

"One for the elite of Haines... and... and I’d like it to match my nails," He waved the new set at her, his tone serious.

The staff stared at him blankly, starting to think that she shouldn’t have bothered offering professional help.

But the two men with him had looked like employees, and the beautiful Omega was wearing rather expensive clothes despite how casual they looked.

So, although his words made it difficult for her to take him seriously, she pasted a professional smile on her face.

"I could certainly work with your nails, they’re gorgeous by the way," She spoke rapid-fire fast, making mental notes on what clothes to show him.

"Thank you," Caspian muttered, focused on the three-piece suit she pointed out to him.

It did match his nails in that the inner shirt was red, as well as the cuff links, bow tie and napkin.

But it was boring...

He couldn’t possibly outshine Bella with this.

"Do you have something... not as plain?" He asked carefully.

The Beta noticed that he hadn’t even bothered to look at the price tag, and it made her eyes narrow in suspicion.

It meant he was either filthy rich or a thief.

"Sorry to intrude but could you give me a little more detail about the function?" She asked, her voice firm.

"It’s not a formal one, that’s for sure..." Caspian said, his expression thoughtful.

He doubted that Asher would be wearing a three-piece suit to it, knowing the Alpha, he would have an even more elaborate coat ready to go.

"Look, can I be honest with you?" He gave in, his eyes pleading.

The Beta’s hackles rose at that, her eyes darting around in case she needed to get security. "Absolutely."

"I need to look better than Bella Blackburn." Caspian said through gritted teeth.

The staff was flabbergasted to hear that, but her thought that he could be a thief had immediately been wiped from her thoughts.

"Lady Isabella Blackburn?" She found herself whispering.

"Yes," Caspian whispered in turn like they were concocting an evil plan. "I need to keep her far away from my boyfriend."

Caspian had never referred to Asher as that before, but he didn’t think that toting name dropping the Alpha was a great idea.

The staff looked really troubled by that, "You’re not pulling my legs, are you?"

"I wish!" Caspian threw his hands up in frustration, "But I even had my nails done for this, I’ve never been more serious."

The staff nodded at this, going from being suspicious of the Omega to taking his side in mere minutes.

She knew about Lady Isabella; she was a well-known celebrity. A rich heiress whose father owned a lot of businesses in Haines.

"Come with me," She said again, this time offering him her hand like they had been friends for years, a determined glint in her eyes.

In no time they were in a dressing room, having Caspian try on some outfits that she got for him, already past first name basis.

"Marge? Do you think this covers me up too much?" Caspian turned away from the mirror to ask the staff who had a serious expression on her face as she studied the outfit he had on.

It was a high-neck dress shirt with lots of ruffles, and it paired well with the high-waisted pants he had on.

"You’re right," Marge had to agree, "What if it was more sheer?" She asked, pulling out a similar outfit that was see through.

Caspian had a look of dismay on his face when he tried it on, "Going sheer ruined it..."

Although not finding the perfect outfit was a little frustrating, it was nice to have someone take this just as seriously as he did...

"That’s not going to be enough to beat Lady Isabella..." Marge tutted when he tried on the umpteenth outfit.

Caspian had to fight the urge to push his hand through his hair, he was running out of time.

Marge paused at that point, staring at him with a serious expression.

"How comfortable are you with showing skin?"

Caspian thought back to all the dresses he had worn, he doubted he could ever wear something that revealing again.

"Very," He deadpanned.

"Give me a minute," She held up a hand, dashing out.

Caspian had to smile, this had turned out to be more fun than he thought it would be.

Marge was back in no time, sporting a couple of scarlet outfits. "What do you say to something backless?" She held up the first outfit with a flourish.

Caspian’s mouth dropped open, impressed, and even more so when he tried them on.

He ended up getting more clothes than what he had come for, promising Marge that he would be back whenever he needed new clothes.

She had also been kind enough to get him accessories, Caspian barely reacting to the amount total.

He couldn’t say if it was because he had been exceedingly satisfied with his purchase or because he was starting to get used to spending Asher’s money.

Peter and Keith were quick to take the shopping bags, leading the way back to the car.

"Did you find what you liked?" Keith asked as he opened the door for Caspian.

Caspian’s smile was devious, "Yes."

The sun was setting as they drove back into the mansion, and Caspian was honestly surprised that he hadn’t gotten even a single call from Asher.

Maybe the Alpha had as much of a busy day as he had.

A maid took the bags from his bodyguards and helped him carry them.

Other than the gift bags he had given to the poor men he had dragged around on his hectic day, the only other things were his clothes.

And they were light enough that he could carry them himself, but no one would stand for that.

So, she could easily carry the bags, stepping into the bedroom after him.
