Chapter 149: +Chapter 149+
"I remembered you can’t walk in heels," Jael kept explaining, a tad nervous at Caspian’s uncharacteristic silence.
Caspian put on the shoes as he said that, while Jael only dug his hole deeper.
The fact that the Beta actually considered getting heels made him relieved that Jael hadn’t tried to pick out an outfit for him.
"Thank you, Jael," He said in a measured tone.
"You don’t sound very grateful," Jael scratched his head.
"Don’t push it or I’ll choke you with the pearls."
"Got it," Jael quickly got with the program, straightening up.
"Can I take the car Asher got for me?" Caspian asked, wearing the necklace Jael got for him despite his disapproval.
Jael was slightly surprised by that, "Sure, I’ll make the arrangements."
"Thank you!" Caspian called out as Jael walked off, meaning it this time.
Caspian was on a time crunch, he didn’t trust Asher not to drive down and pick him up even though he said he would do the picking up.
So, he hurried out of the mansion while checking his phone, wondering if he should call Asher just to make sure the Alpha was sitting tight.
The sight of the blue car sparkling in the afternoon sun nearly made Caspian trip, his mouth dropping open.
Keith stood beside the car, waiting politely for him.
Caspian had really never had a normal day since Asher won the bid for him, and he had to admit that he preferred it this way.
For someone who had lived through monotonous days for several years, the spontaneity was perfect for him.
So, he got into his new car with a wide smile, thanking Keith when he helped him close his door before going around to get in.
When they got to the parking lot of the club, Caspian made Keith get out of the driver’s seat so he could sit there, beaming when he sent him off to get Asher for him.
His bright smile stretched from ear to ear as Asher strode out of the club, looking every inch the dangerous mafia boss, he was.
Caspian got out of his sparkly car, black pearls catching the sunlight as he leaned against it.
"I hope I didn’t keep you waiting," He said with unmatched confidence.
"You didn’t," Asher played along, basking in his smile. "You drove here?" He asked casually, heading for the passenger’s seat.
Caspian ducked into the driver’s seat, posing with the steering wheel. "What do you think?"
"I think, I like it when you smile," Asher’s voice dropped as he closed the distance between them.
Caspian momentarily lost his smile when Asher kissed him, kissing him back with fervor.
"I’ll smile wider when you teach me to drive," He pulled away to say, getting out of the driver’s seat so Asher could drive.
Asher partially got out of the car, he still sat on the passenger’s seat, but his legs were outside the car.
He pulled Caspian between his open legs, brushing his thumbs over the strip of skin showing.
"I’ll teach you after lunch," He promised.
Caspian hadn’t been expecting his request to be answered so quickly. "Really?" He asked before he could help himself.
Asher rose to his feet now and he had to crane his head back to keep eye contact, his hands sinking into the soft furs he wore.
"Yeah, let’s go eat."
Caspian had almost protested about Asher being too busy for such an impromptu arrangement, but he quickly remembered Jael telling him that Asher had nothing but free time.
He also hadn’t forgotten how quickly Asher had showed up in the first days he started going hiking.
"Do you have a restaurant in mind?" He asked as he buckled his seat belt.
"Why don’t you pick?" Asher backed out of the parking lot.
"Do you own restaurants, Asher?" Caspian asked even as he scrolled on his phone, "Actually don’t answer that." He cut in, the internet answering for him.
Asher own restaurants alright, so many that making a choice was a little difficult.
Caspian decided on one not so far away, less conscious about how he was dressed now.
Asher didn’t even seem to notice anything amiss, it was a good thing he hadn’t spent time panicking over his outfit.
The restaurant had seemed smaller on the internet, but it was much bigger in person, and it was extremely busy too.
Like the sparkly blue car they drove in wasn’t loud enough, Asher stepping out next was enough to catch the attention of the rest of the people not already paying attention.
Which meant that Caspian was instantly the center of attention when Asher went around to open his door to help him out.
He froze momentarily when he stepped into the sunlight, starting to wish he had paid more attention to his outfit.
A lot of the patrons in the parking lot didn’t even bother hiding the fact that they were blatantly staring.
"Is something wrong?" Asher immediately picked up on his hesitation, "Do you not like the restaurant?"
Caspian had no issues with the restaurant, and he was starting to get used to being constantly stared at, just not on this large scale.
Previously, most of his audience were Asher’s men, and they were always extra nice to him.
And Asher had asked that question like he planned to level the restaurant if he so much as disapproved of it.
"N-No!" He said in a rush, wide-eyed and focused on Asher, "I chose the restaurant, it’s fine."
That momentarily satisfy Asher, the Alpha offering his arm.
Caspian took it, his hands sinking into more fur, "Aren’t you hot in this?"
Asher had a poker face on, not providing a response.
Caspian immediately latched onto it, teasing Asher was a nice distraction from all the eyes on him.
"You are hot, aren’t you?" He pushed, his eyes alight.
They got to the entrance of the restaurant then, the uniformed host held a clipboard and stood right in their path.
"Do you have a reservation?" He asked flatly, deigning to give them a once over after asking.
