Chapter 134: +Chapter 134+
Caspian fumed when Asher dropped him off in the back seat and then got in the driver’s seat.
He had several questions brimming at the tip of his tongue but he didn’t want to ask them in the car where he couldn’t even look Asher in the eye.
So he would wait.
Asher carried him out of the car again, and this time he didn’t protest. He didn’t exactly have shoes on anyway.
Caspian crossed his arms when they got to the bedroom, trying to keep his emotions in check until he found out what exactly was going on.
"Why were you at the pool? I thought you were too busy," He bit out.
It was a good thing it was a sunny day because he had still been damp when Asher took him from the pool, and he would have caught a chill if it wasn’t hot out.
His pale blonde hair stuck to his face as he waited patiently for a response that made sense.
Asher ripped off his baseball cap now, pushing his hair back. "Seeing for myself that it’s too dangerous to let you go."
Caspian straightened up at that, his hands dropping to his sides. "You... are you ready to have the conversation now?"
"There’s nothing to talk about," Asher said calmly, "You’ll stay in the mansion where it’s safe."
Caspian still wasn’t fully comprehending what Asher was going on about. "A-Are we going to try and work something out?" He asked hopefully.
If Asher was no longer talking about him leaving, it meant that he was willing to consider alternate solutions.
"There’s nothing to fix. You’ll be safe from me and the rest of the world in here." He continued in that unsettling tone.
Caspian watched Asher start for the door, "What... what are you talking about?" He whispered.
When Asher didn’t reply, he stormed after him. "Asher, don’t you dare walk away from me."
That stopped the Mafia King, he turned around to face him. Asher reached out to take his hands, spreading out his palms to show the already forming blisters.
"I don’t like you getting hurt," Asher said quietly, his eyes filling up with tumultuous emotions.
Caspian stared at him for a few moments in disbelief, "I thought we were over this."
Asher shuttered at that, letting go of his hands. "You’re not allowed to leave this room." He stopped trying to be subtle.
Caspian made a sound of disbelief, "Like hell I am!" He bit back but Asher didn’t even flinch.
"What are you going on about Asher? What’s going on?" He asked a tad desperately.
Of all the ways he had expected this conversation to go in, this wasn’t one of them
His hope that Asher had finally begun to see reason so they could have a logical conversation was dashed to the expensive marble flooring.
"Nothing. You’re safe here, so you’ll stay here."
The Alpha was starting to sound like a broken record and it scared Caspian a little bit. It was almost like Asher was trying to convince himself of his own words.
"Alright, come take a seat, let’s talk this out." He decided to try another approach.
Asher didn’t budge at that, his expression stoic. "If you need anything, the maids will bring it to you, and I’ll have men stand guard at the door."
Caspian was rooted to the ground when Asher said that, unable to say a word when the Alpha turned around to leave.
He made sure to take the key with him, the nostalgic sound of the key turning in the lock clicking in the silent room.
Caspian was still in his damp swimsuit but he didn’t care, hurt making his eyes glassy.
He couldn’t believe that after the conversation they had, and after his tries to become a person that Asher could trust to take care of himself, this was the conclusion the Alpha came to.
It was like Asher wasn’t listening to him, he could kill a man with his bare hands, and Asher would still be worried that he strained himself.
Frustration bubbled up alongside the other emotions swelling up in his chest.
He wasn’t with his phone because it was still in the pool bag but he could still reach Jael, so he did so.
"Caspian?" Jael said carefully, "Is everything alright?"
Caspian had been fuming when he asked to be connected to Jael but hearing that question made his chest seize, his eyes burning up.
"No. Asher locked me up." He barely managed to get out.
"What?" Jael whispered, disbelief heavy in his tone.
"He kept going on about keeping me safe, and not wanting me hurt but does he know that hurt goes beyond a bleeding cut, or a broken rib?"
Caspian’s voice was teary now and he could barely speak. "He never listens to me. He never talks to me..." He trailed off, feeling a tickle in his nose.
Jael stayed quiet on the line, listening to Caspian slowly break down.
The sinking feeling that he could do nothing but watch this train wreck, trickled through his veins.
Because if Asher wouldn’t listen to Caspian, then he had no hope of getting through to him.
"What do you want to do?" He asked quietly.
It would definitely get him shot but he wasn’t going to sit around and watch Asher do the exact same thing his dad did.
Caspian sneezed, "Take a shower," He mumbled.
He needed to process his emotions before he could even think about his next step.
"Right. Call me if you need anything." He expressed.
"Thanks," He murmured quietly before hanging up.
He hadn’t meant to go on a tangent like that on Jael, the words spilling out faster than he could process them.
But it was the truth. Asher never listened to him, and even more than that, the Alpha couldn’t seem to get past seeing him as a fragile Omega.
The past couple of weeks had been such an emotional roller coaster. There had even been times he thought things would get better... but he didn’t know anymore.
