Only one person kicked down doors so easily, he thought to himself as he looked up, unsurprised to see Asher and Jael immediately beeline for him.

"What happened to him?" Asher immediately demanded of the doctor.

"I tripped and fell," Caspian recited for the twenty-second time, certain that his words must be getting lost in translation.

Someone hanging at the broken doorway caught his action, disbelief in Caspian’s eyes.

"Why are you here too?" He asked in exasperation at the familiar hulking figure of Mafia King Nikolai.

Nikolai couldn’t very well admit that he had tagged along because he had been led to believe that the male Omega was on his deathbed.

And he wanted to see Asher’s misery up close... you know, as payback for the last three hours he had been forced to spend with him.

But that sounded ridiculous in the face of reality, Caspian’s pretty face was untouched and very angry.

Nikolai couldn’t blame him...

"I heard you were hurt," He went with a generic response.

"Not you too," Caspian said in disappointment, getting to his feet when Doctor Brianna finished up.

He thanked her and then walked off on his own, sick of the supposed dangerous men in his life.

"Caspian?" Asher immediately went after him.

"Don’t follow me," He cautioned as he marched into the parking lot, drawing attention from the fact that he had two Mafia Kings following him.

"Not even you two," He tossed at his bodyguards.

Fortunately, Nikolai got in his car and sped off, but Asher still followed right after him.

He got into the driver’s seat of one of the cars they brought and locked it from within.

"Caspian, you don’t know how to drive," Asher said with genuine worry, pressed up against the window like a kicked puppy.

It was probably best that he didn’t, because he wanted to run over Asher, his bodyguards, and the slew of men that had accompanied them for no reason.

Didn’t they have anything better to do than fuss over him? His scrapes didn’t even hurt anymore.

Doctor Brianna had only looked amused by the entire thing, encouraging him to drop by whenever.

Eventually, he gave in and stepped out of the car, finding it impossible to remain mad at Asher when the Alpha was right in front of him.

Jael was quick to dismiss everyone but Caspian’s recently assigned bodyguards, having a conversation with them a short distance away.

"I’m fine," Caspian said dryly when Asher gingerly inspected his bandaged hands.

Doctor Brianna hadn’t even needed to do this much, but she had.

Getting pampered by everyone he met took a lot to get used to.

"Are you in pain?" Asher asked quietly.

Caspian snatched his hands back, "It’s just a scrape, I feel my manliness reducing." He crossed his arms.

Asher’s lips twitched with suppressed laughter, "I’ll take you home," He offered.

"No, you won’t," Caspian was quick to refuse. "I can get back myself. You’ll go back to work." He poked his chest.

Asher caught his wrist, taking a step forward to bring them closer. "How about I teach you to drive?" He offered without much thought, not wanting to let him go.

"After work, and my hands are still bandaged up," He reminded, already turning away to get in the backseat of the car.

Asher watched him go with a pinched expression. When he first heard that Caspian was hurt, he was sure he was about to become catatonic.

Hearing that he had tripped and hurt himself didn’t make him feel much better, and now he couldn’t even be next to him.

"You’re not driving back with Caspian?" Jael asked as he walked up, the bodyguards pale as they got into the car they had driven to the hospital in.

Asher’s expression was frigid, "He wouldn’t let me."

Jael made a face, he could see why. "I can easily drive you back," He offered.

"He doesn’t want me home," Asher reported forlornly, watching the car Caspian was in pull out of the parking lot.

"How about we head back to Nikolai’s casino?" Jael offered when it seemed like Asher was content to stand in the parking lot.

Asher would rather not show up for dinner with bullet holes in him, Caspian was already upset.

So he turned down Jael’s offer, returning to his club with the Beta in tow.

Caspian pouted all the way back to the mansion, locking himself in the bedroom because he knew that the news of him being ’hurt’ would spread like wildfire in the mansion.

The house staff wouldn’t let him hear the end of it, and things would become worse than they already were.

When he had changed out of his clothes and was lying on his belly on the bed, Caspian started to laugh.

It started slow, small... from a slight lift of his lips to a full-on smile, to a grin that made his cheeks hurt, and then he laughed.

The entire thing was so ridiculous, it didn’t help that they all seemed seriously troubled by such a small thing.

By the next morning, the hubbub had calmed down a bit. His bandages coming off also helped with that.

He couldn’t go back to sleep after Asher kissed him goodbye, rolling around on the bed for two more hours, before getting up to keep to his new routine of eating properly.

Caspian contemplated going on another walk out of spite but he decided to give it another day.

Jael was back and yet Asher hadn’t brought up their unfinished discussion.

Caspian didn’t bother trying, knowing that Asher would bring it up when he was ready to talk about it.

They still couldn’t come to an agreement, so a discussion would only make things tense between them.

Although pretending like their problems didn’t exist wasn’t healthy, Caspian liked how things were right now.

He was scared of ruining the delicate balance, swallowing back his dissensions about the fact that the only intimacy he got with Asher was the goodbye kisses.

He would prefer things to continue in this shallow, pretentious manner, than lose Asher completely.
