Captive Mate BL
Chapter 123: + - 123+

Chapter 123: +Chapter 123+

The bodyguards dutifully following him didn’t try to stop him when he impulsively went deeper into the woods.

Caspian was immediately transported to the woods back in Moonstone.

The nostalgia felt like a breath of fresh air against his face, the scent of nature filling his lungs.

Not to mention, the trees provided cool shade from the glaring sun, and it was a pleasant sight.

He propped his neon pink sunglasses on his hair again so he could see better, turning his short walk into a rambunctious hike.

Whenever he went up a pile of rocks or over a fallen log, he turned around to make sure the men forced to follow him were doing okay.

And they were, every time.

While he struggled to get over the obstacles in his way, they simply cleared them with a little hop.

After a while of confidently marching forward, he slowed to a stop, his face red, chest heaving.

His bodyguards stopped as well, watching curiously as he turned around to face them.

"Um, were either of you paying attention to the path?" He spoke breathlessly, "Because I’m pretty sure we’re lost."

In hindsight, an impromptu hike was never a great idea.

He didn’t even have so much as a bottle of water to cool his thirst and he had gotten them lost.

His very resourceful bodyguards had them out of the woods in no time, they found a much easier path out too.

Caspian would have asked them to lead if he knew how familiar they seemed to be with the woods around Asher’s mansion.

Just as they got to the now very familiar tree, Caspian tripped on a loose stone and fell.

He made a muffled sound of pain as he tried to take the brunt of the fall with his palms, bruising them as well as his knees.

He rose to his feet with a sound of disappointment, this hiking had been an all-around terrible idea.

His shorts and hands were a little dirty but he was no worse for the wear.

Caspian instinctively turned around to reassure his bodyguards that he was completely fine.

They had been leading the way at first but when the exit out of the woods came into view, he walked ahead of them again.

It was his hurry to be on the tarred road again that had cost him his little bruises.

His words of reassurance died in his mouth at the stricken looks on their faces, it almost made him check if he had been shot and he just hadn’t noticed it.

"I’m fine?" He said uncertainly, doubting himself from how shaken they seemed to be about it.

The two men shared a look, it held a silent understanding of their doom.

Keith knew that he should have come up with an excuse when the offer of keeping an eye on the boss’ lover came up.

There had been a lot of men willing to jump on the offer, and as loyal as he was to the boss, he wasn’t a big fan of extra duties.

But he had been unanimously voted just because he had a great aim... which wasn’t on purpose by the way.

If it were up to him, he would miss most of his shots so that he could remain in the lower ranks.

Being a part of Mafia King Asher Mafia House already provided him accommodation, the pay was enough to get him all the games he wanted, he was content.

But despite his tries to sabotage himself, he kept rising through the ranks so fast. It was almost like his guardian angel was working double time to ruin his plans.

The men had wanted only the best for the boss’ missus, so here he was...

Here he was on the first and last day of the job, because they would both be getting shot for letting him trip and hurt himself.

He should have taken today off...

"Just stay right here, sir..."

"Just Caspian is fine," Caspian corrected, feeling lost, his palms and knees stinging.

"Right. We’ll have someone drive out here with a car to take you to the hospital," Keith explained with a calm he didn’t feel, his partner already making calls.

Caspian looked concerned at that, "It’s just a bruise, we can just walk..."

"They’re already on their way," Keith’s partner nodded solemnly.

Caspian wasn’t allowed to get a word in, the men immediately taking their jackets off to create a makeshift blanket he could sit on.

"Don’t you two think you’re overreacting?" He asked when he was seated on their jackets.

Peter, Keith’s partner was already pacing to calm his nerves, while he stared at his phone, dreading having to make the report.

"It’s our duty to keep you safe at all times, and we failed at that." Keith said gravely.

Caspian was too stunned by the sudden turn of events to do the logical thing of getting to his feet and walking back to the mansion.

"It was a rock." He said slowly, hoping that the reality of the current situation would sink in for them. "I. tripped. on. a. rock."

All that did was make Peter pace faster, Keith’s expression grim.

"Oh for fuck sake," He muttered in frustration.

They seemed completely gutted about his minor bruises that barely bled, it was like Asher all over again.

He went along with their overreaction just to ease his own guilt.

Because he had been the one to wander into the woods, and he had been the one to trip on the rock that made them so distressed.

He had an expression of exasperation on his face as three cars with blacked-out windows came peeling down the street.

If he wasn’t at the center of it, he would wholeheartedly believe that they were going against an entire hoard of criminals.

They were all acting like he had broken every single bone in his body and was actively bleeding out.

He let himself be led to one of the cars, clutching his sunglasses in a bruised hand as he got in.

The pretty neon pink lenses had cracked when he fell, and it was the only thing he felt bad about.
