Chapter 105: +Chapter 105+
Their daily routine continued like that...
Jael would come to check up on him in the mornings before he headed to work, and Caspian would spend the entire day drugged out and fast asleep.
Three days passed in this manner, and there was still no word from Asher.
Jael told him nothing, and Caspian didn’t ask. He could just call up the Alpha if he really wanted to talk to him, and he didn’t, not yet.
Jael always insisted that they have dinner together, and Caspian couldn’t complain, it was the only thing that brought him out of his room.
The Beta’s company was the only thing that kept him sane. He knew he was soon reaching his limit, he would need to talk to Asher soon.
Jael on the other hand was impressed.
They were currently having dinner, and it had moved from the dining room to a second-floor living room because the television was a great addition to their meal times.
As they both didn’t talk, it quickly made for a very dreary atmosphere.
That was quickly fixed with the ambiance a show playing in the background brought.
He wasn’t impressed by the cliche romcom playing on the screen however, he was impressed by Asher.
It was already the fourth day and other than getting sparse texts from the Alpha reassuring him that he wasn’t dead, he had managed to stay away.
It was already way longer than Jael had bet on. But every day at dinner, Caspian’s gaze got more and more distant.
If Asher stayed away for much longer, Jael might have to personally drag the Alpha back himself.
"Do you want to come to work with me tomorrow?" He blurted out, not knowing what pushed him to ask that.
Caspian focused on him, blue eyes bewildered. "I can?"
The marks around the Omega’s neck were fading to a faint red now, and by the end of the week, it would be pretty much completely gone.
"If you want to," Jael shrugged, getting Caspian out of the mansion might be good for him.
"It’s mostly paperwork and filing anyway."
Caspian tried to imagine the gruff Beta filling and failed, a small smile lifting his lips, the first one in days.
"Sure. I’m not exactly occupied." He agreed.
Jael caught the little expression, pleased with himself for suggesting it.
The only person who could fix Caspian’s low mood was Asher but he could do his best to buy some time.

Caspian walked into the closet the next morning with a thoughtful expression.
His movements were no longer stiff and most of his aches were now small twinges.
He wondered what to wear; the last time he had been at one of Asher’s clubs, he had been wearing a dress.
As a matter of fact, both times he had been there, he was in a dress.
He didn’t have to wear dresses anymore, and he didn’t miss them.
The time he had to wear them seemed so far away now, it had been such a grave problem then too.
He went for cozy clothes, a sweatshirt a couple of sizes too big, and cargo pants. He considered putting a beanie on and decided not to after all so he wouldn’t get too warm.
There were bottles of nail polish on the dresser, and it was one part of pretending to be someone else that he didn’t completely hate.
What could he say? There were fun colors and they brightened his mood.
He went for a clear one with flat circular pieces in it, which gave the illusion of polka dots.
His nail-painting skills were messy at best and he managed to smear them on everything before they dried.
But they brightened his blue mood even a bit and that was all that mattered.
Caspian always forgot that he had an ungodly collection of heels until he checked for footwear.
He picked out comfortable running shoes, ignoring the flashy heels, and started for the bedroom.
Jael was perched on the couch waiting for him, absently scrolling through TV channels.
"Did I make you wait?" Caspian asked quietly.
Jael switched off the screen and rose to his feet, "Hardly, I just got here."
The longer they spent pretending like their problems didn’t exist, the closer they got.
Well, to outsiders it might not seem that way. Because they spoke less and less to each other as the days went by, the few spoken words clipped and short.
They perfectly understood each other, however, so it wasn’t exactly a bad thing.
Caspian got in the passenger seat while Jael took the driver’s.
The Beta immediately wound the windows down like he always did on his way to work, completely forgetting that he had company this time.
Caspian didn’t mind at all, his eyes closed in bliss as the cool morning air rushed over his face.
He should learn to drive just so that he could do this more often. Surely, Jael wouldn’t mind him driving one of the many cars in the mansion.
The drive was over too soon, and before Caspian could get down from the car, there was a scramble from Asher’s men for who would be the one to open his door.
Caspian was pleasantly surprised by this treatment, he rarely left the mansion so he didn’t expect the men to even recognize him.
"Back off him now," Jael tossed at them when they hung around as Caspian got down from the car, like they expected him to trip.
"We heard the Boss’ missus was a little sick," One of the men said gruffly.
Caspian found the way he was addressed humorous, "Thanks for the concern but I’m fine." He reassured them.
Jael coming over made the men disperse, a slight frown on his face. "Ignore them."
Caspian thought they were sweet, although he and Asher had yet to put a label on what they had so they had gotten a lot wrong.
He did as he was told, following Jael’s lead.
