Chapter 29: Professor Tsuna...ka.

The strongest warrior isn’t he who wins all of his battles.

The strongest warrior is he who wins all of his chosen battles.

In other words, if he sees a battle he has no hope of winning, he would run.

Run and get the f*** out of there!

Akira’s sharp instincts screamed at him the moment Sakura and Hinata began stomping toward him with terrifying purpose, their expressions locked somewhere between offended pride and dangerous challenge. Their generous chests bounced with every step, like twin sets of enchanted jellies that dared men to look and perish.

Akira didn’t even blink.

He turned, sprang out of the pool in one clean motion, grabbed Shiina’s hand, and bolted toward the exit.

"Kyaa!" Shiina squealed in shock, her bare feet splashing against the tiles, but she didn’t resist. She let him pull her along as shouts echoed behind them.

"Don’t let him escape, girls! Catch him! Bring him to me!!" Coach Kubo yelled, flailing a clipboard in the air like a man possessed.

"Ada! Yshtola! You two go as well! If any of you manages to catch him, you get to do whatever you want with him for a full day!"

"Yes, Coach!" came two more very, very excited and motivated voices.

Two additional team members, one with short hair and a piercing glare, the other tall and cool-eyed, sprang into motion from opposite ends of the complex. Towels flew, benches toppled, and the chase began in earnest.

Shiina stumbled slightly as Akira dragged her through the locker hallway, her damp hair clinging to her cheeks and her towel flapping behind her wildly.

"H-hey! What are you doing?! Where are we going?!"

"Anywhere they aren’t!" Akira shouted, his eyes scanning ahead. "Their formation is tight. They’ll box us in if we stay on open ground!"

Shiina stared at him in disbelief as they burst out of the pool building and sprinted into the open sun.

Behind them, the sound of multiple pairs of footsteps echoed with purpose. The swimming team was organized. Trained. And now with the Coach’s promised reward, they were thoroughly motivated.

"Heheheh. I can do anything I want... With a newbie... For a full day?! Heheheheh." Sakura thought evilly as she flung a table blocking her path away.

Piang!

"Mwa ha ha ha! I have a huge stack of laundry that needs to be washed and ironed and folded and categorized. I am going to catch him at all costs!"

"Kyaaa! That boy is cute! I... I get to do whatever I want with him for a full day?! I can dress him up! And paint his nails! And put on make up! Kyaaaa!!"

"The swimming team needs him? Hmph. I will catch him and make him swim 100 laps today as pre-training. For the glory of the swim team!!"

If Akira knew what his pursuers were thinking, he would have definitely let go of Shiina’s hand and get the bloody hell away from them at full speed with every single drop of his elemental energies.

But he didn’t know, and so he was still desperately pulling Shiina along with him.

Akira turned sharply and cut through a narrow path between two gym halls, barely slowing down.

As they passed a smaller, unused side pool, he spotted two folded dry uniforms on a bench and instantly veered off course.

"Wait, Akira, what are you doing?"

With ninja precision, he grabbed the uniforms mid-stride and flung one at Shiina without missing a step.

"Change on the run!"

"What?!"

But he was already pulling on a shirt over his soaked torso with mechanical ease, water still dripping from his hair. Shiina stared in disbelief as he somehow wriggled into pants mid-jog, not slowing even once.

Moments later, they emerged onto the training field behind the athletics complex, the open grass stretching wide under the sun.

They had made it.

Akira jogged to a halt, took a deep breath, and then stood proudly in the middle of the field, hands on his hips.

"They’ll never find us here, especially with us fully dressed this way. Shiina-san, let us go into the middle of the field where they can’t see us clearly."

Shiina, now barely clothed in a slightly oversized uniform, sighed deeply behind him. Their frantic escape hadn’t managed to make her breathe deeply.

She was extremely fit indeed!

"You stole uniforms. That’s theft."

Akira turned to her with a grin. "Tactical resource acquisition."

Shiina groaned and pulled the large shirt tighter around herself. "We’re going to get expelled."

"Not if they never catch us." Akira grinned even wider.

At that moment, a loud voice thundered across the field.

"TWO OF YOU ARE LATE! GET YOUR ASSES HERE AT ONCE!" A shrill female voice rang out.

Akira and Shiina turned towards the voice, and saw a furious looking Professor Tsunaka pointing at them.

"We are not-" Akira began.

But at that moment, a powerful lightning bolt struck the ground in front of them.

KABLAM!!

"I SAID! COME! HERE!" Professor Tsunaka roared furiously!

"Okay, okay, chill, Professor!" Akira shouted back.

Behind him, Shiina could only sigh deeply. What an eventful morning!

Akira and Shiina began to jog towards Professor Tsunaka who was dressed in a sleeveless cream robe which barely covered her huge assets.

Unknowingly, the two of them were still holding hands.

When they reached Professor Tsunaka, she glared at them as though they had killed her favorite rabbit.

"You know what we do to late comers." She growled at them.

"Uh. No? I am sorry, but we are not from your gang." Akira attempted to explain in his most polite voice. "We are just passing by."

Like Captain Colossaria, Akira could feel that Professor Tsunaka was extremely powerful, albeit at a slightly lower level.

"She’s probably at the top of what they call the A rank." Akira thought calmly.

"Passing by? No such thing. You dare enter my Royal Martial Arts Training Field, it simply means you’re here to sign up to join our Royal Martial Arts Team. You’re both officially enrolled! Now, go over there and wrestle with those Brown Bears! You’re not allowed to leave their enclosure for 5 minutes!" Professor Tsunaka smiled evilly at them.

She had recognized Shiina Kanzaki, of course, the 2nd year superstar whom she had always wanted to recruit into her team but failed miserably.

And now that she had willingly delivered herself to her door, she would be the biggest blundering fool if she let Shiina escape just like that.

"Today, the Royal Martial Arts Team will gain a new ACE!" Professor Tsunaka thought happily to herself as she watched the two youths make their way to the Brown Bears.
