Chapter 569: Clash!
“So this is the lingering might of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix… such a grand display of power.”
Staring at the massive mountain in the distance, Gu He’s brows tightened. Despite his own cultivation and spiritual level, just gazing at that towering peak from afar had already triggered the protective grand formation of the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan.
The phoenix cry from earlier was clearly a warning, sounding the alarm to her clansmen.
The sudden spatial barrier rising over Danxue Mountain was enough for Gu He to sense with just a brief probe that ordinary five-star Dou Saints would have no hope of crossing it.
However, for the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan’s eternal rival—the Ancient Void Dragon Clan—such barriers would be essentially meaningless.
After all, in this world, very few spatial defenses could hinder the steps of the Void Dragon race.
Before long, a crimson figure shot out from within the vast golden barrier, racing directly toward Gu He.
It was a woman in a red dress—a beautiful mature woman appearing to be in her thirties. Her aura was terrifyingly powerful, and her slender brows were slightly raised, revealing an overwhelming killing intent.
“A two-star Dou Saint! This woman should be the leader of the Three Heavenly Phoenixes of the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan—Phoenix herself!” Gu He speculated as he sensed the pressure emanating from her.
“You’ve got some nerve, daring to intrude on our Danxue Mountain!”
In a flash, the red-robed woman appeared in front of Gu He, her voice cold and forceful.
As she spoke, she scrutinized Gu He with narrowed eyes.
‘Anyone detected by the Heavenly Phoenix Grand Formation is bound to be a threat. This one is indeed a Dou Saint,’ she thought.
“Heh, don’t misunderstand—I have no ill intentions,” Gu He replied with a calm smile, raising his hand dismissively.
As soon as he spoke, he began walking away from Danxue Mountain.
“Stop right there! You think you can come and go from the Heavenly Demon Phoenix territory as you please?”
Seeing him try to leave after saying just one line, the red-robed woman grew visibly irritated and instantly gave chase.
Soon, the woman known as Phoenix had pursued Gu He three thousand kilometers away from Danxue Mountain.
Of course, Gu He had never intended to escape. He stopped in place.
“Speak. Who are you? Why did you come to Danxue Mountain?” Phoenix demanded loudly.
Gu He didn’t answer her directly. Instead, he asked, “You’re Phoenix, the leader of the Three Heavenly Phoenixes of the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan, aren’t you?”
Phoenix’s expression changed instantly. The doubt in her eyes grew deeper.
“Who are you? How do you know my identity? Speak now, or don’t blame me for what comes next!”
Her voice had grown colder, and she clearly admitted to her identity.
“Heh, has your Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan recently received a… special guest?” Gu He asked with a smirk.
“A special guest?”
Phoenix frowned, her face full of confusion. She had no idea what Gu He was referring to.
“In recent days, other than you, a stranger with unclear origins, who else would dare cause a ruckus on Danxue Mountain?” she retorted bluntly.
“Looks like the Three Dragon Kings really haven’t contacted the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan yet…”
Gu He pondered her words silently.
In another timeline, the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan had only received an invitation from the North Dragon King. At that time, the Western and Southern Dragon Kings had been gravely injured during their battle with Zi Yan and Xiao Yan, which allowed the North Dragon King to seize the opportunity.
He devoured both of them and gained strength comparable to a six-star Dou Saint.
Only then did he dare to let the Phoenix Clan stir up trouble on Dragon Island.
But in this timeline, though the Three Dragon Kings had also been heavily injured, the North Dragon King had no such overwhelming advantage.
“Seems I’ve been worrying for nothing…”
Realizing this, Gu He no longer felt the need to stay.
His long silence had already worn Phoenix’s patience thin. Her eyes now burned with deadly intent.
“I just remembered I have other matters to attend to. I’ll be taking my leave now.”
Gu He cupped his hands politely, then turned, intending to depart once more.
Phoenix was thoroughly enraged by Gu He's attempt to walk away.
In the next instant, her jade-like hand stretched forward and clenched toward the space in his direction. Immediately, the space around Gu He twisted violently, warping inward with the intent to tear his body apart.
Faced with Phoenix’s spatial strangulation, Gu He simply smiled wryly. He didn’t resist at all—letting the chaotic spatial force rage across his body.
The immense spatial power that could have easily torn a high-level Half-Saint to pieces swept over Gu He’s body without leaving a scratch. Not even his skin was harmed.
Phoenix had never expected this move to actually injure Gu He—it was merely meant to stop him from leaving. But what truly caught her off guard was that Gu He hadn’t even attempted to defend.
He simply endured it with his bare body—unhindered, unbothered, and unafraid.
And his speed didn’t drop in the slightest.
“Who is this man...? That body of his—it's as strong as the top warriors of our clan!”
Watching Gu He gradually fade from view, Phoenix’s eyes revealed a trace of panic.
In the next instant, she shot forward, leaving behind a golden trail in the air as she rapidly closed the distance.
Without using his Instant Step or Void Thunder Flash, Gu He truly wasn’t faster than a speed-specialist from the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan. In just moments, Phoenix had caught up to him again.
Without saying a word, Phoenix launched a golden beam of powerful Dou Qi toward Gu He.
The beam roared through the air, splitting the wind with a high-pitched shriek.
Gu He didn’t back down. With a casual sweep of his palm, he dispelled the incoming attack with ease.
Boom!
Their brief clash generated a massive energy shockwave that rippled toward the towering peaks below.
Startled, the small animals living in the mountains scattered in every direction.
Gu He, feeling slightly guilty for intruding, didn’t become angry even after Phoenix came at him with full force.
After neutralizing her first attack, he prepared to use his movement technique and shake her off quickly.
However—just then, his brows suddenly furrowed.
With a sharp glint in his eyes, he stared cautiously at a patch of distorted space near Phoenix.
That space twisted and rippled.
And from within it—two female figures descended.
