Bounty Mercenary Group -
Chapter 42 - 42 42 Revenge
42: Chapter 42: Revenge 42: Chapter 42: Revenge After being unconscious for several days, the town’s mayor finally came to in his own bed.
He distinctly remembered what had caused him to collapse, so, the first thing he did upon waking was reveal himself from beneath the bed covers.
But it was all too late.
If he wished to live, the only thing the Potion Master could do had already been done.
The option was a fast and sharp cut—quick and painful!
He wasn’t concerned about his personal safety.
If the mayor dared to mess with him, then all the mercenaries of the Mercenary Guild would have a bone to pick with this town’s leader.
Thus, what transpired did so, and apart from opening his mouth wide and gasping from the pain below due to shock, he could do nothing else.
This sense of helplessness started brewing in his heart, like the temptation from demons, gradually twisting into something else.
It was the deadliest demon lurking in the human heart, which would unscrupulously release all brutality and violence.
Because of that woman, he had already lost too much!
So right now, he had nothing worth losing!
Violet and that man!
The mayor gritted his teeth so hard it made the maids near him continuously back away.
He believed that his failure was due to his negligence!
So this time, he wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
Only by choking that woman to death could he rid himself of the bitterness in his heart!
With that, his gaze fell on a corner of the room.
He had a considerable amount of money, loads of Gold Coins.
He was confident that even by squandering money, he could crush Violet.
However, the ignorant him would never understand what had genuinely defeated him.
And what had ultimately kept him alive.
In some ways, Violet’s strength was invincible, because her power was beyond surpassing.
Everyone would have to bow down before it—this was the rule.
Everyone knew that the power of rules was fragile.
If it wasn’t upheld with enough strength, it would become utterly worthless.
But for Violet, she was fortunately positioned with a balance in between the two extremes.
There was no superfluous part to wasted, nor was there a deficiency to make the rule situated on a shaky ground.
And this was where Villes disdained him.
Villes also had a clear understanding of his power.
So he had enough confidence to send this pig-like guy back.
To him, this town’s mayor was like a dying man—no divine power or infinite wealth could save him.
Because the power of rules could reverse the border between life and death.
But not everyone could correctly understand the reality in front of their eyes.
Especially for the mayor!
All he could feel was the most direct sensation.
And such a sensation was limited by his clear understanding.
That is, when he woke up from his unconscious state, he discovered a crucial part of his body was missing.
When he reached down with his hand, there was nothing but emptiness.
His beautiful and joyful life, at this moment, like a soap bubble flying towards the sun, burst into nothingness.
After a horrible howl, no one knew what he intended to do.
He smoothed out the vengeful expression on his face, his eyes taking on the look of a snake hiding in the grass.
If given a chance, he wouldn’t hesitate to bite into someone else!
All the servants who made eye contact with him would instinctively shrink back and hide behind the door.
Withstanding the pain below, he stood up, put on his ancestral magic ring, and unlocked the secret compartment in the room using his key.
By this time, all the servants had been dispersed outside the room.
They could only hear the sound of metal clashing from inside the room, but none of them dared to look inside.
No one wanted to be beaten to death by the mayor at this time.
Finally, when the room was utterly quiet, heavy footsteps and the sound of metal scraping resonated as the mayor walked to the door holding a box.
He passed a glance at the person beside him, and the nearby manservant immediately hurried forward to take the box from the mayor’s hand.
However, he underestimated the weight of the items in the box.
When he caught the box in both hands, he suddenly lost his balance.
The heavy box pulled him down, scattering the Gold Coins as he crashed to the ground.
The sound of coins clashing was particularly pleasing.
This box full of Gold Coins was the wealth he had accumulated in his many years as a mayor.
And now, to get revenge on that damned woman, Violet, he was willing to give up all of these Gold Coins!
The fallen servant was in cold sweats, sunlight shining on the Gold Coins, illuminating the room with its shimmering glow.
Gold seemed to have a mysterious power that could make people forget their sorrow and all their worries.
However, for the servant who had fallen, it was a symbol of impending disaster.
Right in the golden light, he saw the glint of the sword as it swung down.
The light was so bright, so dazzling, exuding the chilly breath of snatching life away.
The emotionless mayor thrust his sword into the devoted servant who had served him faithfully for over ten years.
The servant’s scream echoed with the gushing blood.
However, the scream only added to his irritation!
Therefore, biting his teeth, waving his sword, he stabbed the servant again and again.
The screams continued.
Amid the confusion, the servant was shouting, begging to be spared, wanting to live.
But having lost the most precious thing in his life, the mayor couldn’t hear the servant’s pleas for mercy.
Just like when Villes had pressed him down and brutalized him, the mayor repeatedly stabbed him.
The only difference being that Villes at least knew his strength.
Even though he took away the most significant part of his life, Villes at least spared this guy’s life.
