BOUND TO THREE ALPHAS

Chapter 51: SISTERS OF THE MOON

Chapter 51: Sisters of the Moon

Liana dove forward, tackling Alpha Marcus just as his knife cut through the air. The blade missed Kael’s heart by inches, cutting deep into his shoulder instead. "No!" she screamed, pulling the weapon away from Marcus’s possessed hands. But Marcus was stronger. His corruption-enhanced muscles threw her across the room like she weighed nothing. "You cannot stop destiny, little wolf," Mara laughed through Marcus’s mouth as he raised the knife again.

This time, Selene burst through Liana’s control with the force of a hurricane. Silver light burst from every inch of Liana’s skin. When it faded, she stood differently—straighter, older somehow, with eyes that held centuries of knowledge and pain. "Touch my chosen vessel’s mate," Selene spoke through Liana’s lips, "and I will erase you from existence." The knife in Marcus’s hand turned to ash. "Still protecting mortals, sister?" Mara purred through all four corrupted dogs at once. "You never learn." "And you never change," Selene answered coldly. "Still believing strength means hurting others." Elder Mira stepped forward carefully. "Selene... you’re really the Moon Goddess’s daughter?" Selene nodded, never taking her glowing eyes off the corrupted dogs. "The first kid. Born from moonlight and starfire to guide the wolf packs." "The first?" Rowan asked, helping wounded Kael stay standing. "Mara came second," Selene continued, circling the possessed pack members like a hunter. "Born from the dark side of the moon. We were meant to work together—light and shadow in perfect balance." Mara’s laughter echoed from every surface. "But perfect balance is boring, don’t you think?" "You were never satisfied," Selene shot back. "Mother gave us each gifts. I got wisdom, healing, the ability to unite.

You got strength, tactics, the power to protect." "Protect?" Mara screamed through Talia’s voice. "You mean serve! Always second, always in your shadow!" The corrupted dogs moved closer, surrounding the group. Outside, more red eyes appeared in the darkness—hundreds becoming thousands. "Tell them the rest, sister," Mara teased. "Tell them what really started our war." Selene’s jaw clenched. "There was a cat. The first Alpha. Strong, brave, everything a leader should be." "We both loved him," Mara interrupted, her voice dripping with old jealousy. "But he picked precious Selene. Always Selene." "He chose unity over division," Selene corrected. "Love over power." "So I showed him what real power looked like." The air grew thick with dark magic as Mara’s rage filled the room. Through the corrupted wolves, pictures flashed—memories five hundred years old. A magnificent wolf pack living in peace. Two sisters working side by side. Then jealousy. Whispered promises of greater strength. Wolves picking sides. "I offered them everything," Mara’s voice came from the shadows themselves now. "Power beyond imagination. The ability to rule instead of merely live." "You offered them corruption," Selene spat. "You turned brother against brother, parent against child." "I gave them choice!" "You gave them war!" The memories kept flashing. A great fight. Wolves with silver eyes fighting wolves with red ones. Brothers killing brothers. The pack split apart forever.

"That’s why there are royal bloodlines and common wolves," Dr. Rivera whispered in understanding. "You split them into two different kinds." "The ones who followed me became royalty," Mara said happily through Beta Jordan’s mouth. "Strong, dominant, meant to rule." "The ones who stayed loyal to balance became everything else," Selene added sadly. "But they kept their souls." "And in the end," Mara continued with bitter pleasure, "I killed your precious Alpha anyway." Pain flashed across Selene’s face—grief so deep it made Liana’s heart ache from the inside. "Yes," Selene breathed. "You killed him in front of me. Made me watch as his light went out." "Just like I’ll make you watch tonight," Mara promised. "Starting with this broken Alpha." She pointed toward Kael, who was bleeding heavily from his shoulder wound. The curse and hurt together were draining his strength fast. "But first," Mara added, "let me finish the story. Tell them about my curse, dear sister." Selene closed her eyes briefly. "After the great fight, Mother helped me imprison Mara’s spirit. But as she was being shut away..." "I cursed you to watch everything you built crumble," Mara finished happily. "Every pack you guided would finally fall. Every love you blessed would end in tragedy. Every hope you gave would turn to dread." "And it worked," Selene admitted, her voice heavy with centuries of sadness. "I’ve watched it happen over and over. Good dogs corrupted. Strong packs destroyed.

Love turning to hate." "Until now," Alpha Garrett said softly. "Until now," Selene agreed, looking at Liana’s friends with something like hope. "This group is different. Stronger. More united than any I’ve seen." "Which is why they must be destroyed," Mara stated. "Before they can break my curse completely." "The curse can be broken?" Jace asked. "If enough wolves choose unity over power," Selene stated. "If they prove that balance is stronger than dominance." "Too bad they’ll all be dead soon," Mara laughed. Through the windows, they could see her army getting larger. Corrupted wolves, shadow creatures, and things that might have once been human all meeting under the red moon. "How did you escape your prison?" Rowan demanded. "I never escaped," Mara responded through Gamma Stevens. "I’ve been getting stronger inside it for five centuries. Feeding on every act of cruelty, every moment of hate, every time a wolf chose power over love." "And Celeste?" Elder Mira asked. "My descendant. The great-great-granddaughter of one of my royal family followers." Pride filled Mara’s voice. "She found my jail three years ago. Smart girl. She understood that freeing me would make her the most powerful Luna in history." "By merging with you," Selene said grimly. "Sharing power with me," Mara amended. "Though I suppose she doesn’t realize that two spirits can’t share one body for long." "What happens to the weaker spirit?" Dr. Rivera asked, though her face suggested she already knew. "It gets consumed," Mara said happily. "Poor Celeste thinks she’ll control me. But I’ve had five hundred years to plan this moment." The corrupted wolves suddenly froze, their eyes going totally black. "Speaking of which," Mara continued, "she’s finished the first ritual.

The walls between worlds are weakening. Soon I’ll be able to step out of the shadows permanently." "Into what body?" Selene demanded. Silence stretched like a held breath. Then Mara’s laughter filled the room again, cold and victorious. "Oh, sister. Haven’t you figured it out yet?" Horror dawned on Selene’s face. "I don’t want Celeste’s weak little form," Mara continued. "I want something much better. Something that can channel the power of both darkness and light." "No," Selene breathed. "Yes," Mara purred. "I want your precious vessel. The girl who carries your spirit is perfect for carrying mine too." Through Liana’s eyes, Selene stared at her own image in the window. At the body she’d been taking. At the girl who had become more than a host—she’d become a daughter. "I won’t let you," Selene vowed. "You can’t stop me," Mara answered. "The eclipse reaches totality in four hours. When it does, every barrier will fall. Including the one protecting little Liana’s mind." The corrupted wolves smiled in perfect unity. "See you soon, sister. Try not to fight too hard when I rip your precious vessel’s soul apart." The black faded from their eyes, leaving them confused and frightened. But the damage was done.

Outside, the red moon pulsed like a heartbeat, and something ancient and hungry started to stir beneath the earth. Selene turned to face the group, her look desperate. "We have four hours," she revealed. "Four hours to do what I couldn’t accomplish in five centuries." "Which is?" Kael asked softly. "Kill my sister. Permanently. Before she takes the one thing I have left to lose." Through Liana’s eyes, Selene looked at each of them—these brave dogs who had become her last hope. "Because if Mara possesses Liana," she whispered, "she won’t just destroy your packs. She’ll use Liana’s Moonshadow bloodline to rewrite the very rules of nature." "Into what?" Rowan asked, though he clearly feared the answer. Selene’s voice was barely heard. "A world where darkness rules forever, and the moon never rises again."
