Born To Rise In Konoha -
Chapter 70
Chapter 70 - 70
From the memories of his past life, Saitama knew this method wasn't ideal. After all, even ninja cells had limits—be it in energy supply, storage, or division.
That's why Saitama rarely relied on brute-force tactics that amounted to "hurting the enemy by a thousand while injuring yourself by eight hundred."
Looking up at the sky, he noted it was still early. He resumed his solo training with the targets.
Since learning the Body Flicker Technique from Shisui, Saitama had never stopped practicing it.
This highly aggressive move, when combined with his natural speed, felt like a perfect match.
Facing nearly ten practice targets, Saitama narrowed his eyes and began his routine. He had already gained decent mastery over Shattering Body Art—while still not on par with Shisui, he wasn't too far off.
Maybe this is talent? Sometimes, such thoughts crossed Saitama's mind, but he kept them to himself. Arrogance was unbecoming of a shinobi.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
His figure flickered through the training grounds. Each target received a clean, fatal strike. In under five seconds, all targets had been hit. Saitama had met his goal flawlessly.
Time passed quickly during training, and before he knew it, it was lunchtime.
Since he planned to visit Captain Fugaku in the afternoon, he decided to eat at the Uchiha Police Force headquarters.
After downing a large bowl of braised beef, ten rice balls, and a serving of seaweed soup, Saitama ignored the curious stares of the other Uchiha members and headed to Fugaku's office.
He'd seen Fugaku enter that building earlier in the morning, so he should still be there.
After checking the main office and not finding him, Saitama headed to the nearby branch office of the Military Police. The two buildings were close, only separated by a short walkway.
Flashing his badge—for the first time since receiving it—Saitama walked confidently toward Fugaku's office, aware of the silent stares tracking his every move.
Knock knock.
He knocked on the door and waited silently.
He'd already confirmed Fugaku was inside, so he wasn't worried about wasting his time.
"Come in," came Fugaku's calm voice. Perhaps it was a trademark of middle-aged men, though Fugaku was only around thirty.
Creak.
Thud.
Saitama pushed the door open and closed it behind him with smooth, practiced ease.
"Hmm? Saitama," Fugaku said with mild surprise. "What brings you here?"
Apparently, he'd forgotten the mission he had assigned to Saitama not long ago.
Setting aside a report on clan affairs, Fugaku leaned back in his chair.
"It's about the mission, Captain," Saitama said, stepping up to the desk.
"Ah, right. I remember now." Fugaku straightened slightly. "So, you're ready?"
Though Saitama was only seven—nearly eight—his maturity often made people forget his age.
"Yes. I'd like to hear the details."
"The task is simple on paper," Fugaku began. "Escort a VIP back to the capital. But the person's identity makes it a high-risk operation."
"High risk?" Saitama raised an eyebrow. "I thought it was just a simple escort."
"The target's enemies may include a number of jōnin-level shinobi," Fugaku said, tone casual, as if discussing the weather.
Saitama nodded, considering the risk. "Sounds like trouble."
"The mission won't begin until after the New Year," Fugaku added. "So you've got time to prepare—and maybe enjoy a bit of Mori's sake while you're at it."
"You'll be going alone on this mission. Are you up to it?" His voice sharpened.
Saitama didn't answer directly. He simply raised a hand in acknowledgment and turned to leave.
"This kid..." Fugaku scratched the back of his head as Saitama exited. "Don't let me down."
Though reluctant to assign such a dangerous task to a child, Fugaku had no choice. At the moment, Saitama was the only one suitable.

As the New Year approached, even the ongoing war couldn't dampen the festive atmosphere. Lanterns hung from every rooftop, and the village glowed with celebration.
On the first day of the New Year, Mori was getting married.
Saitama woke early and put on the new clothes prepared by Granny Kaka. He wore the traditional high-collared Uchiha shirt, paired with warm velvet slacks to fend off the winter chill.
"Granny, I'm heading out to a colleague's wedding. I probably won't be back today, so take care at home."
He packed his things and said goodbye.
"Eh? You told me that yesterday," said Uchiha Kaka, lounging on her stool with breakfast in hand. "You think I'm more naggy than an old woman?"
"Then I'm off, Granny!"
Today, he planned to arrive early—either to help or to just enjoy the fun.
He didn't wear any weapons. It was a wedding, after all—no need to make the groom nervous by showing up armed.
"Hey! Saitama!"
A familiar voice called from behind, just a few hundred meters away.
"Oh? Nagisa?" Saitama didn't even need to turn around.
He stopped and folded his hands behind his head, waiting.
"You're up early," Nagisa said, walking up with heavy dark circles under his eyes.
"Thought I'd go early. You too?"
"Nah. I just woke up, saw you pass by my house, and followed you." Nagisa gestured to a nearby home.
Saitama blinked. "You live that close? I never knew."
"I didn't eat either. Let's crash Mori's place and grab something."
Saitama grinned. "Sounds good to me."
Nagisa nodded. "By the way, I'm invited too. Mori came by the guard station himself yesterday."
As they walked, Saitama glanced at Nagisa's dark circles.
"What'd you do last night?"
Nagisa rubbed the back of his head. "You know how it is, Saitama..."
