Chapter 287: FOUR OMEGA PUPS

{"Omega pups are the heartbeat of the pack, soft, fragile, and fiercely loved."}

The Moon Goddess stepped back, the hem of her glowing silver robes trailing over the grass of the Royal Garden, her form beginning to shimmer softly in the moonlight. Her gaze swept across us one last time.

"I am leaving now," she said, her voice gentle but threaded with purpose. "To the Haven Cave at Ragar Mountain. There are ancient forces that must be awakened and old promises that must be kept. You must hold strong until I return."

I blinked, heart racing, a dozen questions crowding my throat, but I could not speak. My mind was still spinning from what she had just revealed.

Pregnant, I was already pregnant with Spark’s pups.

My hand drifted to my lower abdomen in disbelief, fingers playing across the fabric of my tunic as if I could somehow feel the tiny lives growing inside me. The moment the truth settled, I felt it—a surge of warmth, like a faint pulse echoing beneath my skin. A tether of life. No... four.

Four heartbeats and a breath caught in my chest.

"Wave?" Spark’s voice, close now, raw with emotion. I turned and found his eyes wide, shimmering with awe and something deeper, something that made my throat tighten. "You... you’re really..."

I nodded slowly, still stunned. "I am."

And then, everything moved at once, and General Mortas stepped forward, his ever-stern face breaking into a rare, gentle smile. "Congratulations, Guardian."

General Tiger clapped a large hand on my shoulder, nearly knocking me off balance. "This is good news. The best."

Ralph grinned widely, eyes flashing amber as he said, "Your pups are going to inherit fire and moonlight. They will change the world."

Troy, in wolf form, let out a low, approving growl, tail swaying.

I barely had time to respond before Spark surged forward, arms wrapping tightly around me. I gasped softly as he pulled me close, burying his face against my neck.

"You’ve just made me the happiest damn wolf in the realm," he whispered. And then he kissed me with no hesitation, no restraint. His lips crashed into mine like a promise and a prayer all at once, burning, protective, filled with awe, love, and heat. I melted into him, the world falling away for one long, breathless moment. Around us, the moonlight shimmered brighter, the Moon Goddess watching silently as if granting her blessing through that radiant glow.

When we finally broke apart, both of us breathing hard, her voice floated to us once more.

"Protect them," she said. "They are the beginning of the end... and the light after the fall."

And with that, she turned, vanishing in a swirl of moonbeams that drifted toward the mountains, leaving us standing there changed forever.

Spark pressed his forehead against mine. "We’re not just fighting for the realm anymore," he said softly.

"No," I breathed. "We’re fighting for our family."

We made our way back into the Royal Garden, the air thick with both anticipation and relief. The barrier had fallen, the threat temporarily subdued, but the weight of what lay ahead still pressed on our shoulders like storm clouds yet to break. Spark stayed close to me, one arm wrapped around my waist, steady and grounding. The scent of his smoke, pine, and warmth was a comfort that settled in my chest, especially now. When we stepped into the heart of the garden, I froze in surprise.

"Mama?" I breathed.

There she stood, Mercury, my mother, radiant as ever in a flowing sky-blue cloak, her long silver hair braided over one shoulder, eyes gleaming with unshed tears and pride. Beside her stood Crystal, General Tiger’s sharp-eyed mother with her usual poised fierceness, and Flora, my sister, and Rita. Ma rushed forward, pulling me into her arms with a sob. "My sweet boy," she murmured, cupping my face as she pulled back. "The Goddess herself said you carry pups and that you are the Guardian of the Omega Sanctuary." Her hands trembled. "I always knew you were born for something greater."

I swallowed hard, emotions brimming. "Mama, I didn’t even know until moments ago."

She smiled through her tears. "But your soul always knew. I see it now."

Crystal stepped forward next. "And you," she said, turning to Spark with a steely gaze, "had better be ready. You are Beta of this pack, but now you are also a mate to the most powerful Omega alive. Your duty is tenfold."

Spark, to his credit, straightened under her sharp tone and bowed his head respectfully. "I will protect him with everything I have. Always."

Crystal gave a sharp nod of approval. "Good."

Flora and Rita moved closer, their eyes drifting toward me with gentler expressions. "We felt the shift," said Rita, her voice smooth with age and wisdom. "The moment the Moon Goddess touched you, the Omega line awakened."

"And we felt something else," Flora added, her face shadowed. "A hollow. A wound tearing across the realms... Hanka Island."

Everyone fell quiet, and Ma’s tone shifted. "What happened there... What did the Moon Goddess say?"

I exhaled slowly and told them everything about how Ashanai had risen, how she had drained life from Hanka Island, turning it into a shadow of itself. How Gerod, in his dragon form, fought alongside us. How Rou and Elle held the line. How Ashanai’s laughter was like knives through the soul. And how the Goddess herself had warned us that the Bay Shifter Pack is next.

"She’s no longer hiding in the shadows," said Crystal. "She’s making her move."

"And she’s coming for the Omega pups," Mercury whispered, her hand tightening on mine. "For your pups."

Silence again, heavy with dread. "We need to prepare," Flora said firmly. "No more waiting. Fortify the sanctuary. "

"She’ll find it here," Spark finished, voice ironclad.

Rita looked at me, eyes full of something like hope and sorrow all tangled into one.

"You are not just carrying life, Wave. You are carrying a turning point in this war."

My pups stir inside me a flicker of warmth, of promise.

"I know," I said softly. "And I won’t let them fall."

The barrier shimmered softly as General Mortas raised his hand. "Let him in," he said, his voice as calm as stone under pressure.

A flicker of light parted the magical shield surrounding the Royal Garden, and Mortas’ deputy stepped through, breathless but composed, the crimson insignia of our guard gleaming on his shoulder. His gaze swept over us with purpose before landing squarely on the general.

"Message from the southern front," he said firmly. "Paradise Coven has dispatched an army."

Gasps rose all around. Crystal’s hand went to her mouth. Flora’s eyes widened. Even Spark tensed beside me. "Paradise Coven?" General Tiger asked, incredulous.

They felt the surge from Hanka Island. The rise of Ashanai. They know the darkness will not stop there. And..." He paused, locking eyes with me. "They are coming because Freyr is Alpha Tor’s mate. And Alpha Tor is bound to the fate of this realm."

My heart kicked in my chest.

"They believe in the bond," the deputy continued. "They know that if the mate of Alpha Tor falls, it could unravel the balance of power in the northern skies. The coven has made its decision. They fight now for Freyr, for Alpha Tor, for the realms."

Spark exhaled low, reverent. "So, they’ve chosen to defend the realm."

"They’re not holding back," the deputy confirmed. "The Vampire Captain Belisont leads them. He is bringing the old vanguard, the spell smiths, the night riders, the crimson war hosts. And Belisont’s words were clear: We defend the mate of the Lycan Alpha Tor. We hold the line of fate."

Ralph growled with grim approval. "The realm now stands against Ashanai."

General Mortas nodded slowly. "Begin reinforcing the outer perimeters. Inform every sentry we are no longer alone in this fight."

Ralph suddenly went still beside the edge of the garden, his eyes narrowing as the hair on his arms stood. "They’re here," he muttered, his voice low but charged with something primal. "I can feel them... The Rogourau beasts. They have reached the beachfront."

A breath caught in my throat. Before any of us could speak, a sharp ripple passed through the air, and the barrier of the Royal Garden hummed as two towering figures approached its edge, Rolan and Qadira. Their presence was unmistakable, carved with ancient power and wrapped in the wild grace of the Rogourau bloodline and the Vampire Mira. The guards stepped back instinctively as the barrier opened, and they strode in with purpose, sand still clinging to their boots, the scent of salt and wind trailing behind them.

We all turned to face them. "Alpha Rolan," General Mortas greeted, bowing his head with quiet respect.

Rolan nodded once, then swept his gaze across the gathering, landing briefly on me before he spoke. "The Rogourau have returned."

His voice carried the weight of destiny. "They’ve come to defend again," he said. "They feel the dark call rising through the lands, and their blood knows its duty. We were born to protect the Lycan Alpha... and the Bay Shifter lands. That bond cannot be broken."

Qadira stepped forward, her crimson eyes gleaming like firelight. "Ashanai thinks this realm will fall into her hands. But the old beasts of the mountains remember their oath. "

Ralph growled in quiet agreement, shifting just enough for his Rogourau form to flicker beneath his skin. "Then let her come," he said. "We’ll tear through the sea itself if we have to."

Spark placed a hand on my lower back instinctively, shielding, guarding. I could feel the pups stir lightly within me. The Realm was assembling, and no one was going to stop us.
