Chapter 249: ALPHA TOR GALE IS MY MATE

{"He is the storm behind the silence, the shadow behind the howl. The Alpha Lycan is both legend and law and he is my lifetime mate"}

We stopped just before the steps, and she descended one, breaking formality, offering closeness.

"On behalf of Paradise Coven and the realms that still breathe in peace tonight... thank you." Her gaze swept across us. "What you faced at Blood Stone Mountain, the evil you vanquished would have consumed more than just one place. It would have spread like rot across the world. You stopped it before it could."

Sierra was the first to respond, graceful and composed. "It was not without cost. The Mira’s home has returned to the earth."

Aurora’s expression shifted, softening with reverence. "Then may it rest, proud and eternal. Its roots live on in you."

Freyr stood tall beside her, his chin raised but his eyes unreadable. Qadira said nothing, but the faint shimmer in her aura told me she felt the weight of that acknowledgment.

"You didn’t just protect this coven," Aurora continued. "You safeguarded the peace of the entire realm. And though few may ever know the truth of what you did, we will remember. I will remember. "She placed a hand over her heart and bowed her head to us.

After we moved to the Bloodstone Citadel knew how to make a moment feel immortal.

The banquet hall was carved from opalescent stone, lit by floating crystal lanterns that bathed the room in a soft, star-like glow. Vines of silverleaf curled along the archways, blooming with enchanted flowers that responded to music I could not hear. Long tables stretched out beneath the high ceiling, already set with goblets of starlight wine and some of blood.

But the real weight in the room was not the magic but dozens of nobles, elders, generals, and council members. All dressed in ceremonial silks and battle-worn leathers alike. They turned as we entered, their murmurs dropping to silence. Aurora Jade led us in, radiant and poised, and took her seat at the central dais beside Nessa Elder Armon, and the high seats of the council.

That is when Freyr stepped forward, and he looked taller tonight, more composed, wrapped in a dark Mira robe trimmed in white, the markings of his line glowing faintly against his skin. He did not raise his voice, but when he spoke, the hall hushed to listen.

"I ask for your attention."

A ripple of stillness spread through the air, and Freyr turned to face the crowd, arms open in formal welcome.

"I want to introduce and acknowledge the presence of the people who accompanied me to Bloodstone Mountain. You already know my mother, Lady Sierra, and my sister Qadira Kayne. Plus, Elder Dante, my stepfather, and the lifetime mate of my mother"

Freyr stepped next to Rou and placed a firm hand on his shoulder.

"Rou Rogourau. Alpha of the Rogourau clans, fierce, untamed, and loyal beyond reason. He destroyed the blood-infected vampires and the bloodstone bugs nest they had built in the waters. He held the ground long enough for the sun to rise."

Rou gave the crowd a crooked grin and a wink, earning a few stiff gasps from the more nervous nobles.

Then Freyr turned to the Rolan and stated, "Rolan Rogourau, he was imprisoned in the blood stone mountain for years and was a good friend to my late father, Dunco Kayne. "

He gestured toward Rita and Flora, "Commander Flora, a wolf shifter from the Bay shifter clan, and her mate, Rita, the daughter of AlphaRou. They were the ones who worked together with Rolan and Qadira to bring down Lord Marcel and end his life. "Rita nodded solemnly. Flora gave a small, nervous smile.

Freyr stepped back then, voice steady and final, and he laced his hands with mine.

"Finally, this is Alpha Tor Gale, the Bay shifter Alpha and the greatest Lycan in the world. He is also my lifetime mate:

A goblet fell. A chair scraped. Somewhere, someone gasped like they had been stabbed through the chest. One of the nobles outright choked on her wine.

"What?"

"Impossible—"

"That’s forbidden!"

A dozen voices clashed at once, crashing over one another in a rising tide of outrage and disbelief. A member of the elder circle stood, face flushed with shock. Another councillor began demanding that protocol be followed. A woman near the head of the merchant table turned pale, then red, and then pale again.

Freyr did not flinch, and I, on the other hand, was still trying to remember how breathing worked.

"You could’ve warned me," I muttered through my teeth.

"I just did," he said, with a small smirk only I could see.

Aurora Jade rose slowly from her seat, and by the way she was composed, told me she knew well that I was mated to Freyr.

"Silence."

"Freyr Kayne speaks of bond and choice," she said, eyes scanning the crowd. "Not war. Not betrayal. Not treason."

An older man near the edge of the council rose stiffly. "But a lifetime mate between a Vampire of our own and a Bay Alpha? It is unheard of—"

"Then hear it now," Nessa interjected, stepping beside her mate. "This is no political alliance. It is a soul bond. Sanctified by life, not by law."

"But he’s a shifter!" spat someone from the military table. "These upset the natural order—"

"He is the reason your walls still stand," Freyr snapped, his voice sharper now, stripped of diplomacy. "If the natural order is offended, then it should thank him for the courtesy of survival."

I laid a steadying hand on his arm. "Let it go," I murmured.

Freyr’s jaw was tight, but he relented.

Aurora stepped forward again, her voice the blade and the balm. "There will be no more outbursts. The Paradise Coven honors the deeds of all who saved us from Blood Stone Mountain. Alpha Tor is one of those heroes. If Freyr Kayne names him as his mate, the coven will respect that bond or risk the wrath of its hypocrisy."

Silence fell like snowfall, thick and cold and full of everything left unsaid and lowly, the court began to settle again.

Aurora turned her gaze to m,e then softened, curious. "Alpha Tor...do you have anything to say?"

I stepped forward. The weight of every eye in the hall pressed against my spine. Nobles. Warriors. Commanders. Elders. Half of them still looked like they did not know whether to scream or bow.

"My name," I began, "is Tor Gale of the Bay. Alpha of the Bay Shifter Pack. "I am not a court-born creature. I do not wear silk or speak in riddles. But I know loyalty. I know what it means to stand between death and those I love."

Whispers flickered around the edges of the room, but no one interrupted. "My beast," I continued, meeting the eyes of every commander I could find Gabriel, Brandyn, Belisont—one by one, "is not one that tames easily. I am not just a wolf." I let my eyes flash, just once, gold and silver layered, a flicker of the monster beneath my skin. "I am Lycan. Born under the blessing of the Lycan ancestors and the moon goddess."

Gasps rippled. One elder made the sign of protection across his chest. Another muttered something about "the Old Blood."

"My Lycan chose Freyr Kayne the moment we crossed paths in Hanka Island, he recognized Freyr’s beast Kayne as its mate. So, I stand here now not just as an Alpha of the Bay," I said, voice firm. "But as his mate. And through him, our mind link is bound by the Kayne stone, Mira magic, moon goddess, and the guardians of Hanka Island, Ragar and Sagstone mountain."

A few nobles flinched. Others looked stunned and in shock.

"I am not your enemy. I do not come for your throne or your laws or your old fears. I come as a shield. A warrior. A protector. And if Paradise Coven ever stands under threat—" I looked directly at Aurora, "—then I will bleed for this place the same way I would die for my pack."

"Wow," Nessa beamed while Elder Amos and Aggrey clapped, surprising everyone in the room.

"This is my son-in-law. I trust him with my life, "Sierra added, and Qadira nodded with her.

"Alpha Tor Kayne was the one who helped us vanquish the evil in the mountain core. Without him, we would not be standing here. The Marcel family are the one who bore the evil creatures and almost put the world in trouble. They vanquished the evil, and they put their lives on the line for the realm. But with his help and the members of the Bay shifter pack, we would not have been able to see the rot and the evil that our people created, " Freyr asserted.

"Then may Paradise know your name not just as a visitor, but as a protector, "Aurora stated. "And may the gods of both sky and soil honour the bond you have forged with one of our own."

Freyr moved closer to me and then pressed a kiss on my temple, adding to the shock in the room.

"I, Freyr Kayne, affirm that Aurora Jade is the rightful coven leader. I have no interest in power and plan to settle in Hanka Island with my mate. I will be the peace bridge between Paradise Coven and the Bay Shifter pack. I am ready to fight anyone who has any objections."
